THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW

Beyonce – Welcome to Hollywood (full) – download
This is basically the same as “Hollywood” from Jay-Z’s “Kingdom Come,” with some added vocals and adlibs and less Hov. It’s interesting to see what Beyonce did with his parts. Apparently, for some odd reason, this is going to be on the re-release of “B’Day” (due out April 3) as if it’s something that we’ve never heard before. I’m not hating, I just don’t really see how it fits into the rest of the album. But I’ll admit it, Beyonce’s re-recorded vocals and adlibs are pretty fun.

Sterling Simms – Nasty Girl (full) – download
So much better than that “Jump Off” mess that Sterling is trying to put out right now. Although I can see why this isn’t a single, “Nasty Girl” is giving me what I need. It has a very retro feel and I’m also digging Sterling’s delivery on this song. Those who know me, and have been reading the site for a while, know that I’m absolutely in love with Prince’s music and it definitely gives me that kind of vibe. If there is more material on his album like this, and less like “Jump Off,” I’m definitely in support of it. Because this is dope.

Drake feat. Andreena Mills – Closer (full) – download
Drake is coming out with a second mixtape as a sequel to “Room For Improvement” and here’s a track from the new mixtape. I really loved the song “Closer” from Goapele, so this is really nice to me. Drake’s flow is sick, and I like the vocalist, she has a really nice voice. If you’re looking forward to hearing more about Drake’s new mixtape, check out thisisdrake.com or peep his MySpace page.

Timbaland feat. Keri Hilson & Attitude – Hello (full) – download
This is bonus track from “Shock Value,” Timbaland’s new album, due out Tuesday, April 3rd. I can see why the track was left off the album, because “Shock Value” has a more progressive sound, however, “Hello” sounds, to me, like some old school Timbaland. Keri Hilson kills it though, it’s good to hear more of her voice. I really enjoy her rapping. She never oversings… it’s like her voice just floats over the track. It’s good to hear Attitude back at it too.

@ #59, maybe right NOW she is BUT aint no 1 gonna top Mariah on that one when she was in her hay-period!

I love me some Prince 2 Brian, so feelin that S
Sterling song-but as someone said it lacks something either beat or vocally wise, can’t put my finger on it.

Timbo track is really nice 2

    Drake nice

Bee-I prefered the Jay-Z version. This one sounds more like a demo and somewhat empty. Like someone said earlier, it would be good as an interlude-maybe a bit shorter in song length too.

  3. GETOVER IT

beyonce song sound like shit some more recycle songs for her! the light skin dude sound like some old school prince before purple rain for the young ones!

  4. sunshine

bey should have rapped on the verses like she did in the end. sterling needs to sit down. leave the MJ sound to MJ please. i was feeling drake for a while until i listened to some of his other songs and homeboy has some woman issues. might be an undercover misogynist. but of course i love the tim. keri’s voice is like lemonade on a hot summer day…much needed. so happy she droppin a album. ya’ll remember to get keri’d away nah. ;-)

i love that drakey tune. i always loved Goapele tho.

    ‘closer to my dreams..’
    =D

The Bey joint i think was better when Jay took it as his own and put it on his album. Sterling=MJ i need to hear his voice not so high pitched for me to decide whether i like him or not. I am a huge fan of Drake ever since the replacement girl joint came out. Anything Drake does will be pretty hot, the female did her thing singing the hook but i think that noone can sing “Closer” better than Goapele (she makes the song hers with her distinct voice). I like the Timb beat, the song has to grow on me some more. Attiude does sound like Big Boi of Outkast

  11. Compton_Chick23

I have a feeling that it was Beyonce’s bitch ass that made Jay make that wack ass “Kingdom Come” album…

  12. 4daluvovmuzik

i wonder if ne-yo wrote those additional lyrics to bey’s song? i know he wrote the parts she sang on jay’s version…

  13. E_BEZZIE

I can’t help but wonder if Beyonce didn’t do as well as she had anticipated on her album. It just seems like she’s doing way too much. That’s the exact same song… wtf? And what about all of those videos? I just think she has free time. I don’t know, I could be wrong.

  17. TrueGoodGirl

@ 67 how is it a show off song? Do understand the premise of the song? Maybe you need to hear the original.

  18. Simms reminds me of that 90s dude, Al B Sure.

  19. k.w.een

drakes is aiiite. but it does no justice compared to GOAPELE’s version. woooot! goapele is my giiiirl! baaay areeea !

  20. ms. complexity

Kingdom Come was a weak album but I really enjoyed “Hollywood”. I don’t think Beyonce should have put her ‘own’ spin on it – the version with Jay is a really strong one.

  21. DaBaddest

Adreena Mills should’ve let Goapele sing her own lyrics because I feel that Mills is butchering them and not giving them the justice that Goapele does.

  22. joe-EE

i LOVE that [DRAKE] joint. his flow is soundin real sick && he definitely got summin coming for him. im anticipating his blowin up status real hard. he gon make major moves i know that shit for a fact!! adreena’s voice sounds really good too. i like it.

sterling simms is a cuteyy!! hmmerz. the song is ok tho but i think itll grow on me more. im sure

  23. nicole
