Beyonce is not representing black women. Beyonce could easily pass for white in the freakum dress video. Believe me when I say that white America (in general) does not view women like Beyonce or Halle and someone like J Hud in the same category. No one wants to talk about it, but it is the truth. It doesn’t matter that its 2007, these issues still exist. Black isn’t just “black”. Now a true positive representation of a black woman would be Oprah. She is actually “black”, and could not be mistaken for white or Hispanic. Blacks like to claim everyone they can as their own, but most of the people we say are beautiful black women are more than 50% white and/or Native American when you factor in the father (or black parent) not being 100% black (as a number of blacks in America are not 100% black).

Point: I’d like to see more “black-black” women portrayed positively in the media. Beyonce doesn’t count; have you all heard Creole….? Even she acknowledges the difference. Having said that, I still think Beyonce is an ok artist.
