Reginald “Cool” Coolidge is a struggling actor, fed up with taking stereotypical African-American roles and waiting for his big break in a legitimate production. While working his day job, his ex-fiancée – and one true love – reappears after three years of silence. Discovering that it’s only 36 hours until her wedding to a local lawyer, Cool embarks on last-ditch attempts to win her back. oh no not one of these type of films again…NEXT. hollywood need to step they game up quick
Did u even watch the trailer? That comment went up a little too quick homie.
I’m mad they keep casting Zoe Saldana as a Black woman in these films. Why can’t they cast as the Dominican woman she is? I’ll tell you why! All Spanish women in hollywood gotta look like Jlo or Selma Hayek to be considered or classified as Spanish! But then again it aint so good to be Spanish in Hollywood either! Your just looked at for your tits and ass! It’s sad!
LOL @ Angel!!!!!!! you know these bitches are dying to be first!!!!! crazyness
erm but either way I agree w. Ms.Lashonda on one thing. Next! The film clearly tried to be a different take on things at the beginning but it seems to fall back into these standard Black romantic/comdeies. I’m tired of our films being either dance competition type films or stupid and cheap black romantic comedies. God! What ever happened tothe drama. Soulfood anyone?
This looks really good! I love indie movies and music. I still watch Matty Rich’s “Straight out of Brooklyn”
Angel La I think you are fine.
oh yeah! about the post, the movie looks very interesting i love great independent flicks……..
The movie looks pretty good, I will def look for it when its released. I enjoy indie films too because they tend to stray from the mainstream
i’m in da top ten, it looks decent 2 watch
I really like Independent Black films, they are not always the greatest movies as far as production, but I still rent them and enjoy! This is one I will rent. I really like Hill Harper. Not so sure about Eva Pigford, I have yet to see her in anything worthwhile.
Top 10
.
..
…
oh this seems like it would be worth a rental…
but why dude gotta go and try to ruin his ex’s life…
there is a song with the lyrics “she used to be my girl”…
obviously they broke up for a reason…
get over it…
and please can we get a new premise for a movie…
…
..
.
I’ll watch it.
I love me some Hill…
Looks like a good concept…
The trailer was nice.
@ Ms.S girl you need some history classes or take sociology for that matter. the girl is HISPANIC not SPANISH and she is a BLACK HISPANIC at that. she is a BLACK woman so calm down. look at Halle. she’s mixed but is a black woman isn’t she? Hollywood calls her african-american and she thinks she is too. if anything zoe is more black than halle so hush
I think the movie is looks cute. Looks like a movie a lot of “us” can relate too. Zoe Saldana is the bomb. Black, Dominican, whatever I like her.
What’s most important to me is supporting Hill and Zoe. Other than that… NEXT PLEASE!
Okay, I love to support people of color as well. So I say rent it if your sole purpose it to support. But I have seen it (my husband loves watching independents) and I have to say, the movie really wasn’t that great, IMO.
I actually like the storyline. I would def rent it or borrow it from someone(lol).

>>>>> She’s a black latina, black being racial, latina being cultural so yes she is a black woman. And she claims black as her race. If that woman was claiming Cuba, Spain or Puerto Rico talking ’bout “soy una borricua, si señor!!” all y’all would call her a disgrace for distancing herself from her african heritage and trying to sound exotic. I’ll support the movie, thank you Angel!
It’s available on AMAZON.COM too :
http://www.amazon.com/Pre...qid=1177002103&sr=1-1
This movie is EXCELLENT..go get it.
Zoe is a black woman..Damn!
I just bought it and can’t wait to watch it!
As far as Zoe Saldana goes, her father was black. So she’s dominican and black or Blatina or whatever. Even if she wasn’t black, I love that chick. She is so smart and endearing in all the roles I’ve seen her in.
HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TOPIC AT HAND BUT I HAD TO POST SOMEWHERE.
SPIDER LOC VIDEO SHOOT UP.

hey i rented this last week and it was better than i thought it was going to be. pretty funny movie, not too serious and not too silly:)
I think I will take a peek at this movie. It probably wont be all that good (who knows) but I like Zoe and I loves me some Hill Harper
(*Holmer Simpson voice* mmmmmmm Hill Harrrrper!)LOL
Anywho…I agree w/you Tia…..I am sick of dance competitions and hair salon flicks…..can we not do any better?
This is the reason why I watch Love Jones at least once a week. Granted the movie had its corny moments but Nia and Lorenz rocked it out!!! And the soundtrack was fever too!
I LOOOOVE THAT MOVIE!!!! Damn, I just realized that movie came out in 1997! SHUT UP! LOL
Question: Why does just about EVERYTHING have to be about race with some of you guys? Who the hell care sometimes…..sheesh! Seriously, does it lessen the quality of the persons acting or singing abilities if they are or arent of mixed heritage? Good gracious…..lighten up a bit.
No…it looks like the same cliche romantic comedy. Some guy has to stop a wedding so he can tell her he’s always loved her…NEXT!!
Sean Nelson should have won a academy award for his role in “Fresh.” And what ever happen to that show that use to come on The N? They always cut off the good black shows real early and leave the crappy white shows on for like a decade! I rarely watch anything on that network, but sadly I’m a moesha fan so….
Dorian Messick is lookin real sexy though

BUT THIS IS WHY WE NEED TO SUPPORT THE BLACK MOVIES, WHY CANT WE HAVE A NORMAL RUN OF THE MILL ROMANTIC MOVIE? HELL THE YT’S DO IT DAMN NEAR EVERY MONTH!!!
WHY DO OUR MOVIES HAVE TO BE HOOD MOVIES, DANCING ETC?? WHY CANT WE HAVE A CINDERELLA STORY LIKE PRETTY WOMAN? WHY CANT WE HAVE A ROMANTIC ACTION MOVIE LIKE SPEED?? AND THE LIST GOES ON IM TIRED OF SEEING JENNIFER ANISTON, RENEE(CONSTIPATED LOOKIN) ZELLWEGGER, REECE WITHERSPOON, & JULIA ROBERTS ON EVERY FUCKIN MOVIE! IF WE SUPPORTED OUR PEOPLE & NOT BE SO QUICK TO LOOK FOR THE DRAMA THAT WE EXPECT TO BE AROUND THE CORNER, THEN WE COULD GET THESE MOVIE ROLES AS WELL…
But unlike the salon and barbershop movies, the movie is also used to talk about a struggling black actor fed up with stereotypical african-american roles being given to him, that’s one good theme and for that reason alone I’ll buy it. AND Hill Harper is in the movie, boy they got my money fo sho!
*yawn*
WACK…..NEXT!!!!!!!!!!
i wonder how much they are paying y’all to promote this crap!! not worth my money or time!
Ms. S said some dumb shit about the actress being spanish. I thought a mutherfucker could be black and Hispanic all at the same time. I don’t understand why all these nappy-headed Dominicans keep trying to pretend like they are something other than black. Can someone tell me?!!!
I must say that I am proud of Concreteloop! For the first time they have done thier jobs and promoted something indie, instead of kissing the mainstreams asses!
This looks dumb!!! I wouldn’t even spend money to rent it, much less spend 2 hours watching it.
@ Chante is being biracial really that crucial? I mean my daughter is black and Puerto Rican. So what the hell? I’m so confused. I didn’t know it was that serious.
New Yorker …you need to hush cause you obviously didn’t read a damn thing I said! I said I’m tired of Hollywood casting her as the stereotypical black woman in Hollywood! As for Hispanic….thats our Slave name…She’s Latin American or Latina…she was born in Dominican Republic…therefore I’m right in what I say! I just wish she was cast as a Latina for once, instead of being put in a role for how she looks! if anybody needs to go back to school! It’s you!
why does this have to turn into some racial issue? who cares what role she plays…this post is about the movie and i’d see it.
#34 you need to hush too! I said I just wish she could be portrayed as a Spanish woman for once! And yes I happen to a nappy headed Domnican…you got a problem with that? Yes the girl is Black, never said she wasn’t…I’d just like to see her as a role mean’t for a Spanish woman for once…dammit I’m entitled to my opinion, I’m not taking away from her acting chops for that! I just wish homegirl would broaden her horizons for once. Jesus!
The trailer was a lot better than what I expected from reading that lame ass plot summary!
Seems like the director borrowed Spike Lee’s style in some parts
@ Ms. S , Zoe is doing what she needs to do be more acceptable and mainstream. If she were to limit herself to playing a latina , she would be hardly working – those roles are few and hard to come by. By recoginizing herself as a Black woman, she is able to choose from more roles. All the actresses have to do it to survive in the business – ex: j-lo played an italian in out of sight. i’m not saying it’s right but it’s just the nature of the business.
she’s repping DR all day but she still doesn’t deny being black.
sounds like a serious version of norbit, but not that funny.

>>> Black and Puerto Rican don’t mean mixed to me, because black is a race and Puerto Rican a nationality and culture. Black Puerto Rican is black from puerto rico in my head, but maybe you define it differently and I respect that. I’m not against Zoe reppin’ her latin culture and she does it too, but she claims black as race and I was pointing out that if she was claiming everything else but black, ppl would be pissed. It’s like a lose lose situation. Folks are mad at Lala Vasquez for reppin’ puerto rico. Ya know?
And H-Town Chic***, basically, me personally I’m not mad at them for reppin’ their cuba or puerto rico. That’s legit.
#43…thank you for hearing me out! I’m proud of home girl! I really am! I know roles are hard to come by and I more mad at Hollywood then her. Naw she is doing her thing! I just wish these assholes at Hwood would stop giving her the same ole roles. I don’t her to be typecasted thats all! I don’t mind repping for the black women…it’s a beautiful thing….I just wish there was a way she could rep her African roots and her Dominican roots, then she recieve the real paper and get it poppin! But yeah, she is repping us right! You right about that!

@ #3
Zoe is Black. Doesn’t matter if her ancestry is from the Dominican republic. My fam is from the south and she’s darker than me. She looks just as Black as lets say ahh, Megan Goode. Black women need to get off that hating shit. Hating on other black women from different areas. The slave ships brought us everywhere.
@ H-Town Chic***, you’re welcome!
@ oatsuzn – that’s just it – it does matter whether or not she claims to be black and not claim to be dominican , then dominicans and the latino community in general would say that she was denying her roots and turning her back on them.
the same principle applies if she were to rep only being dominican, then she would be pissing off the black community.
it’s like walking on a tightrope trying hard to please both sides of your culture and identity…
Ms S, I just read the rest of your comments and I gotta say u are one of the most ignorant black, dominican, nappy(whatever u wish to call yourself) women on here. I hope I never have the inconvienence of meeting you in real life.

You are right about that, they did drop us off everywhere…wasn’t hating man, I just wish she could rep for both African American and Latin American women…but Hollywood won’t give her dual roles cause she don’t like Jlo! and Zoe can act better than her to boot!
Oatsuzn
You don’t know me…to say I’m ignorant….I considered myself Afro Latina. I don’t want to meet you either, you sound very uneducated and ignorant yourself! To make an assumption like that you must be…but whatever, I’m entitled to my opinion like everybody else is on the topic. you wanna label people? Fine. your just as bad as these ignorant people in Hollywood!
I tried watching this movie *twice* and fell asleep both times. The script was boring as hell. Don’t waste your money.
@ Bored@work
But does the culture she reps in real life affect the movie role??? I mean, that’s what Ms. S is trying to imply, but really it doesn’t. Zoe is a Black woman from DR. She fits the look for the role(a Black woman). You act as if she’s not doing spanish speaking roles because she refuses to. She doesn’t get cast for JLo roles because the viewing audience would see her as a Black woman not the typical Taino Latina. JLo played Selena, but shes the farthest thing from Mexican…but she LOOKs the part.
The movie was alright. It was a little slow in parts but it picked up in the middle.
I bought that last weekend and its a pretty good movie. If you aint broke, cop it! Eva did her thing in there too…
@ oatsuzn – you’re right. how she portrays herself in real life doesn’t affect the character she’s playing. but by limiting herself to only playing latina roles, she would be missing out. i think she’s doing a good job of repping both sides professionally and personally. she doesn’t get considered for or offered latina roles because she doesn’t fit the so called mold of what latin women look like because hollywood doesn’t realize that latin people come in all shades..
There was a black film fest some months ago in DC (I want to say late last year) and they showed this movie and the director was there to talk about it. I thought it was a cute movie but unless it is edited, it is definitely something that I could not see making it to the big screen.
