The NBC News statement said:
“This decision comes as a result of an ongoing review process, which initially included the announcement of a suspension. It also takes into account many conversations with our own employees. What matters to us most is that the men and women of NBC Universal have confidence in the values we have set for this company. This is the only decision that makes that possible. Once again, we apologize to the women of the Rutgers basketball team and to our viewers. We deeply regret the pain this incident has caused.”
Word is execs at the CBC Corporation are also calling for him to be pulled from their station.
IN RELATED NEWS..
In an interview with ABC News Wednesday afternoon, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., called for talk radio host Don Imus to be fired, and said he would never again appear on his show, which is broadcast on CBS Radio and MSNBC television.
“I understand MSNBC has suspended Mr. Imus,” Obama told ABC News, “but I would also say that there’s nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group. And I would hope that NBC ends up having that same attitude.”

You are right. No matter what color you are, it’s the GREEN$$$ that everybody listens to.
I wasn’t tripping on the nappy headed part because hell, I’m a full-blooded sistah and love my nappy hair. But to call them “hoes”…he went too far. I wasn’t just offended as a black woman but as a woman period. It didn’t matter if Don Imus was white, black, purple or yellow with blue spots….what he said was demeaning. I am glad he was fired. From a female standpoint, whow do we expect to be treated just as fairly as men when you have this public figure whose calling us whores basically…when we are essentially playing basketball…which has long been considered a “man’s game”. Damn just apologizing to “us”. Apologize to women period!
@19 (Babyboss)
You’re right. Jesse and Al are NOT our spokesmen. White America put them there and they do whatever’s necessary to keep themselves there. They’ve made a career out of it.
However, it’s a new day. Our leader, has always and will continue to be, God. Then, we lead ourselves by making sure we do the basics: Getting an education, having an excellent spirit, saving our money and investing wisely, making good decisions, etc.
It’s time for the younger hip-hop generation to make a stand against injustices done to us. However, we must do the necessary things to help ourselves, such as demanding that rappers STOP using language that breaks us down. I’m all for hearing a good beat, but change the words to BUILD us up. Raise our boys and girls to know how to love and respect one another, to stop allowing their emotions to drive their decisions, and to manage money. These are just some of the issues, but let’s use this situation as a springboard to making our own community better.

I don’t understand why some people keep comparing what so called Black rappers & comedian say to what Imus did. There is a big difference between Imus and people in our own community saying hateful things. First, no “True Black Man” would never disrespect a black woman by writing songs referencing them to Ho’s & Bitches. Also, these so called black men who do use those terms only do it for the sole purpose of obtain wealth for themselves at the prize of sale out their own race.
Second, White men like Imus don’t need to hear a rap song or comedian to make him think black women or lower then dirt. You see White men like him have for centuries has always thought of black women as Ho’s. Just that in this day age Imus and other white men like him can refirm what they always thought of black women thanks to black rap star sellouts.
Bill Said:
Thank You Marie.
I’m confused as to why people want to use excuses for Don Imus saying what he said.
Don Imus is a grown man that has been on Radio for over 40 years.
He knows VERY WELL what he should not say on RADIO.
I would expect the FCC to fine the radio station very shortly….
@66 I totally agree.
Its sad that when ever a someone makes a comment about blacks in a negative way, they always try to clean it up by saying it was a joke gone bad or some bull to make it ok,and its not.
Bill…like hell it doesn’t have any bearing. But then again, it’s okay for another black to depict black women negatively by calling them out of their names, right? But for a white man to do it…all of a sudden you want to get offended and say it’s wrong. Puleeze! What you said made no sense and comes as very narrow-minded and hypocritical. Have you ever klistened to Don Imus’s show before now? I doubt you have. How do you know he’s a racist? You’re just regurgitating what people like Al Sharpton have been saying in the media for the past few days. I tell you what. When you develop a point of view of your own, then try that argument again. I don’t know what’s worse…that ridiculous argument you just made but that you trust to use Malcolm’s pic by your name. What a joke!
I’m SO glad because just being suspended wasnt enough for me. What he said was uncalled for he needs to lay off the Whiskey! I can only imagine what he says off-air

So far, Obama seems to be okay, but folks don’t just hang your hats on him before you hear what he has to say and watch what he’s doing.
Anyone of these politicos can get up, schmooze and flatter you with their tongue, but what are they going to DO for the benefit of the Black community and Americans everywhere?
Barack is coming to ATL this weekend. There should not be one person out there yelling emotionally, at these political pep rallys, everyone should be silent and waiting to hear and ready to ask: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? HOW ARE YOU GOING TO WORK FOR ME? This goes for ALL the candidates.
It’s time to put people in office with Character (who you are when no one’s looking); Integrity; and who is led by THE TRUTH (inside buzz word for The Fam). No longer is Black America going to tolerate someone with the look and the image, but no substance and no heart for my black skin and red, white, and blue heart.
Listen to what they’re saying and hold them accountable to do what they say they’re going to do…
No one “automatically” gets my vote.
Chante’
Sorry Chante”’, you changed your avatar, but you kept the same old Jim Crow mentality! Comparing the black experience to that gay mess is like the “ham and egg breakfast! The chicken was happy to give up a few eggs if the pig donated the meat!! WTF? Or, the story of the apples and oranges! No comparison!
Black people are born black! Gays chose to be immoral! Using your analogy, you could have said, married people shouldn’t diss adulters! Or, motivated people shouldn’t diss lazy people! These example pertain to choices that people made for themselves, not conditions they were born with!
Being black with coarse hair is the way God created us! Being gay is a sinful little nasty choice that immoral men and women make! So, don’t try to defend your gay stans by comparing that immoral lifestyle to the plight of these young college women who should have been honored, but instead were discraced!
Now that you’ve changed your avatar, you should tell the Lord it would be alright if He changed yo name! Will you ever stop with gay rights? What’s next, rapist rights? Kidnapper rights? Pedophile rights? Exhibitionist rights? Racist rights? Adulterer rights!
Just because its a womens team, doesn’t gives Imus the right to assume or call them hoes! Just because our hair is different doesn’t give him the right to use his wit and call us nappy-headed as a translation for the N-word! Unlike the low-lifed rappers, Imus was given a great responsibility based up decency and standards! So, stop comparing Imus to these dumb ass rappers!
This is in anticipation of your response:
Chante’, I know you changed your avatar for profound reasons, but its not the outward appearance that you need to face! I actually like the way you looked! You kinda fly, but sometimes that flyness serves as a warning to brothers…don’t judge the book by the cover! A beautiful rose on a thorny stem! She may be fine on the outside, but so unkind on the inside!
And, to those who don’t think the finances got Imus fired, I say okay, it was also the pressure from politicians and civil people! I can also say, it was the examples set by Martin Luther King to protest injustice! Or, I can say it was the blood that Jesus shed on the cross at Calvery! But, the bottom line is, those phone calls to MSNBC from Proctor and Gamble and nem was the straw that broke the damn camels back! lol!
OK first and foremost I am a female rapper. Rappers such as snoop, luda, etc. speak on situations that they live and see in their environment. Some women are no good hoes. its all in how you present and carry yourself. When I hear songs talkin about bi##h this and that, the first thing I say is hey they aint talkin bout me. But as an elderly white man you are , in no way shape or form, snoop dog so don’t try to emulate what he (snoop) says. I will take responsibility now for my lyrics because we as a race influence all of america.
Bill:
I sent the email and am waiting to hear back….
Black America is about to change, babe!
He’s fired… now what?
#54 judging by your picture. This is the reason we are degraded in the first place. see what I mean. It is the way us black women present ourselve. OK
#66, I applaud your post and appreciate your voice. BRAVO!
I can’t debate on whether Imus should be allowed to stay or go. Either way, his presence isn’t getting to the heart of the matter. Just think about all the money Blacks spend on GARBAGE and how many Blacks funnell $$ out faster than they bring it in. Does the average Black person know what their net worth is? Do they even have a net worth? It’s not about having a house or a car, it’s about having a LEGACY. Imus being fired may never change a lot of people’s mentality about their own plight.
Think about who you support and how your dollars are spent. Think about whose kids you’re sending to ivy league Yale while your child is barely getting financial aid for community college, much less getting into college. Think about how while you’re busy stylin and profilin in that whip you just bought with the proceeds from your rapid refund check or payday loan, someone just made 325% interest off of you! Think about the fact that Walmart still offers layaway so you can spend six months paying for a $1,000 chain that they paid $50 for!
Imus is the least of my concerns for our people. Many of us really do have our priorities backwards.
On the real tho is Don Imus the real culprit or just a media scape goat so the Al Sharpton’s of the black community can attempt to stay relevant and feign progress or a sense of accomplishment…???
Seems to me that the voices really holding down the black community aren’t Don Imus’ or Bill O’Reilly’s, but your own. Why not fix the poison streaming into your kids ears 24/7 rather than attacking an old irrelevant lame who’s words could mean less to you and yours? The idolization of the 50’s and soon Uncle Murda’s (Kids got those darts in his raps) are a hundred times more influential to their sensibilities and perceptions than anything a haggard old disk jockey can ever say.
Afterall the only reason Imus even said what he said in a mocking/serious way is because he and countless other white people have heard blacks referring to eachother and their women in the same exact way!!! Is it really wrogn for the him to make fun of how idiotic its is for a group of people to denegrate eachother in that way??? Is the root of the problem really “the white man” for having fun with it????
Don’t get me wrong he was wrong for saying it, he’s in an environment where standards are set and he shouldn’t have been foolish enough to say that, just like i would never say that in my office. Non the less the imagery/language is out there and HE didn’t invent it.
Why don’t these “leaders” ever attempt to fix the problem from INSIDE out ???
anyway back to my mobb deep….
#34: Queen Nefertiti
We have the solidarity. Stop thinking in terms of ‘everyone’. Think in terms of those who are of the ‘same mind’ as you and then make sure our voices are heard the loudest.
We don’t go after stopping a consumer’s right to purchase what they want. We go after the hip-hop artists who are creating the words. We go after the “video vixens” and demand that they represent the image of Black women as “classy”, “intelligent”, and “queens”. It’s okay to have a video, but “thug life” is out.
It’s all about Royalty. All about that rapper having his “Wifey, his equal partner” right beside him–helping him build that kingdom. All these gangsta-grills, sloppy dress days are gone. Keep the jeans with the dress shirt, sweaters, and sneaks (that’s not bad).
Words create. So, we demand that hip-hop create and build a positive Black community. Also, in our own communities, we need to clean them up. Make your houses and yards look nice and neat. It’s time to step our game up.

Why do you insist on comparing a black person to the lifestyle that people chose for themselves! Even someone born Jew can decide to live as a Gentile! But, a black woman can’t just decide to become a white woman. Some have tried, but bleach and relaxers can only hide so much! Politicians, gays and Catholics are choices!
You gay rights avocates are a trip! Y’all try to jump on the first bandwagon you see rolling! That’s vicious!
And, to those of you who want to talk about all the good that Imus has done in the past! Well, he disqualified himself! You can spend a lifetime building up a reputation, but it only takes one false start to ruin it!
A track runner trains his whole life to compete in the Olympics, but he gets disqualified after the second false start! “Everyone stand up from the blocks! Imus you have been disqualified! Please remove your blocks and return to the locker room! Please turn in all your credentials and passes! Please exit the stadium! A plane is waiting to fly you back to the USA!” See you in four years!
Now, runners take your mark!
# 56 PUUULEASE. have you ever seen a black professional, or any other, get on national wide coverage and call a white person one of those names. I DON’T THINK SO!!!!!! Stop it!
To Genesis and the rest of the people here who keep trying to compare Don Imus to the rappers, let’s focus on the issue at hand. What he said was wrong. Genesis…I listened to Don Imus in the past and I can tell you, the guy is a bigot. This isn’t the first time he’s made disparaging comments about our people. This is the first time action has been taken. The difference between rappers who for instance use black women negatively in their videos, is that these women know full well what they’re getting into. Nobody put a gun to their heads and made them act like glorified hookers in a rap video. They do it for the money, the notariety but mainly bvecause they want to. It’s the image THEY perpetuate…not the rappers. All those girls from Rutgers were doing was playing ball. They didn’t deserve that disrespect…period.
He looks like Satan himself on that picture. If he said that on-air, imagine what he says in his own home or with his buddies. I can only imagine. What’s in you will come out.
Let’s take it a step further. If Don gets to be fired, so should the brotha from Grey’s Anatomy that called his co-star a f@ggett. F@ggett is just as demeaning to the gays as “hoes” or “n!gger” is offensive to us. Yet, what do we do…we give Isiah a standing ovation at the Image Awards. We send hinm to “rehab” in an attempt to save his @ss and his job. We see nothing wrong with what he said because we don’t hold out people to the standard we hold…uh….white folks. Some of you make me sick! When you’re bumping to people like Ludacris who’s just one of many rap stars who portray women negatively…all of sudden when some white man uses the exact same terminology, you want to remember where you came from.
132. hood_shit asked: “…He’s fired… now what?”
======================================================
One of the “now what’s” is that others like him will think before coming out and speaking their racist minds! They will have to be a little more strategic when training their kids to be racists! They will have to hold their peace when they’re not sure if the next white person will laugh or yell foul!
This may seem like nothing new to you, but when money talks, bull$#!T walks! Following the Janet Jackson mess, the FCC instituted a five-minute audio and video delay to ensure that there are no excuses for fools like Imus! You get a live talk show, you better be a shock jock with swagger! Children can watch Imus in the morning! If he wants to go racist let him broadcast on pay-per-view or HBO, and then he can go buck wild like Chris Rock and Snoop! But, they have sponsorers who have black consumers, and yes, Chris is a sellout too!
The standard is different for blacks dissing their own people! And, the only time I hear black people use the word “honkey or cracker” is to let them know that a ass whoopin is coming! hehe!

Why not? Let’s get them off too! We have to gather the ‘evidence’, which means we need those of you who have heard these shows and know the derogatory terms that were aimed at Black America, to list them here.
Then, we find out their major advertisers, write them, and boycott their products. We demand that they pull these folks from having a public forum on TV or radio.
Queen Nefertiti is also right about going after hip-hop artists and comedians too. They need to be held accountable. If they don’t change, we don’t support them.. plain and simple. I know a lot of you might not agree, but please understand, that we’re NOT calling for the end of hip-hop. We’re calling for the end of negative words and images of Black America. Everybody’s not from the street. Black America has so much more to offer and so many layers, why not show what’s positive about us?
Finally, for all of our young babies here on the Loop:
We’re fighting because we care about how the image of Black people is represented. We’re fighting against a negative way of thinking that has hindered our community for years–our own and other people’s view of us. We want you to be able to hold your heads high and have the necessary tools to handle yourselves in any area of life.
There are many of us who care about the conditions of your schools, the quality of education you’re getting, making sure our men and women stop going to prison, holding cops accountable for their behavior, and kicking drugs out.
We want you to be held in high esteem whereever you go. You are sons and daughters of God and He loves you–regardless of how crazy your circumstances may be. So do we. In order to spread Love, we must first be the examples of Love to each other.
What does this mean? It means it’s time for Momma’nem, Daddy’nem, and Grandma’nem to get out of the clubs and parent. No one told you to bring your babies into the world. Stop ignoring them and turning these monsters loose for the rest of us to deal with, b/c you couldn’t take 3 minutes to whip them when they were two.
It’s time to learn how to trust one another, learn how to be excellent people and entrepreneurs so that we can pour our purchasing power back into the community. It’s time for the entrepreneurs and the working class to use that purchasing power to reinvest back into your businesses and the community instead of putting it all into your pocket. Stop being selfish and shady. Mentor a young person. Pour into making our HBCU’s the best too!
It’s time to go back to the old-school values that we knew were tried and true–the whole n’hood raising a child. Back in the day, we didn’t hear about our young men killing and burning their ex-girlfriends on a grill b/c he couldn’t handle her being in another relationship. Where was daddy, brother, cousins, and friends to regulate that before it got to this point?
However, babies, we need your help too. We need you to make a commitment to challenge yourselves, and your friends, to stop using words like: “Nigga”, “hoe”, “Bitch” or any other words that tear someone down.
We need you to stop using drugs (Weed IS a drug!), dress nicely, go to school and learn everything you can and commit yourselves to WANTING TO LEARN. We understand that when you’re around your friends, you talk more casually. BUT, when you get away from your neighborhood, you need to know how to speak with intelligence and understanding (NOT ‘u know what I’m sayin’? or Ummmm). Regardless of what type of home or circumstance you are living in (we know some of you are catching it behind those closed doors), know that at the very least, you can pray for help. You can pray for change. You can also BE the change.
All of us needs to make sure our minds and hearts right with God. This isn’t about getting into a debate about the hypocrisy of the church. This is about caring for all of you. Caring that you have a means of hope. Caring that you have a foundation to go to when the Money/People/and things fail you.

Love you babies!
@103 Ms Mac
I’ve seen those statistics before sis and it exemplifies the fact that blacks have moved nowhere. All the movements, protests, and marches were and still are in vain. They were all orchestrated to make black people think that they were achieving something with all that effort and sacrifice. The illusion of inclusion.
The people in power sacrificed Imus (for now) because they know that black people today are simple. Blacks require immediate satisfaction like children so that they can claim “victory” in a battle that whites could care less about. So they threw Imus to the lions probably on a condition (orchestrated with character actors Sharpton and Jackson) that he would re-attain his previous stature in probably 6 months to a year. The white man waits that long to achieve real “victory” because he knows that that’s when the real battles are won, when the smoke clears. By then niggas will be back to their normal bullshit and won’t even remember who Imus is.
These people are in the midst of organizing the New World Order and they can’t have certain white men slipping up and letting the negroes know that mainstream corporate America still doesn’t like them. Plus blacks have to remain in enough of a stupor that they’ll be “patriotic” and willing to fight for this country when the white man escalates his conflict with Iran.
In regards to Obama, he’s a politician. Politics is the art of telling people what they want to hear and getting them to believe that you’re genuine. Like he’s gonna say, “I will still be appearing on Imus’s show….” Lol.
He referred to the whole team as nappy headed hoes, right? I guesspeople seem to be forgetting that there were at least 2 white girls on that team as well. I guarantee you if Steve Harvey had said it instead of Don Imus, this wouldn’t even be up for debate. Most of you people commenting have never heard of Dom Imus until now or no doubt have never heard his show until now. A lot of this talk about firing him is “jumping on the bandwagon”. Al Sharpton once again has played you all. Al Sharpton is nothing but a racial ambulance chaser. He saw an opportunity toget back in the spotlight at the expense of a notso racial statement. I’m sorry but “nappy headed hoes” was not racist. The “ho” part was sexist and to me, that’s where he was wrong. But if you black, then dammit, you got nappy hair. Why should that offend you? But then again, judging by the heads of horse hair some of our women rock these days, I guess having nappy hair is a shameful thing. I wouldn’t start cheering so soon because Dom Imus has a very strong and a very large following. He will get back on the air, even if through Satellite radio where anything goes. The ones who lose in all of this is MSNBC. It ain’t like any of yall are providing them ratings. I don’t some of you even watch the news!

Well, that’s what white people did to blacks for hundreds of years! So, turn about is fair play! You sound like you would enjoy hearing Imus call your daughter a hoe! Why did you only defend the word “nappy”? Come on now! Don’t play dumb, you know who he was refering too! White people from Duke to Davis University to Boston College to U-Conn have the same elitist attitude as Imus!
And, what you said about Obama made no sense: “AS FOR BARACK OBAMA HE SHOULD KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT CAUSE I PRAY HE DOESNT WIN..THIS COUNTRY IS READY FOR A BLACK PRESIDENT” WTF???
Maybe this country IS ready for a black president who will stand up and tell racist like you that if you come with that Imus bull$#!T, you’ll be out of a job! Black people get fired everyday for less $#!T! You meant to say that the country is NOT ready, but you see how one crutial word can change the meaning, and Imus said several crutial words!
Black’s can’t coach! Black’s can’t quarterback! Black’s can’t swim! Where you get that BS? White people aren’t perfect either! And, the past presidents have brought more strife to the country than good! Bush has worst blood on his hands than Sadam did and Clinton was a nappy-headed hoe!
Karma is a Bitch but Imus is just the tip of the Ice berg.Everyone is in need of change including me.

I agree with the majority of your post, but JamieE, what are you willing to DO to get the black citizens of Milwaukee, who feel the way you do, mobilized and working to change things? Are you willing to do what it takes to make the change happen?
This is my point. We come on here and always talk about the problems, but we have to change our mindsets to become solution-oriented. Change starts with you, your family and friends, your neighborhoods, and your cities. Just start there with the people who feel the same way, b/c everyone won’t.
You all band together and create the force of change in Milwaukee.
@ Daphne, Black people are thinking Obama that is going to be some sort of savior for the community. They do not realize that there is only so much he can do. However most (if not all) politicians are liars. I would not be suprised if he was in cohorts with Hillary. And this Imus stuff is annoying me! Why isn’t anyone talking about that young girl in the south! The one who is currently serving the strict jail sentence for pushing a hall monitor (because they would not let her into the school). I know Bushy is loving all of this!

Isn’t that the way it always is? Get fired up over something that’s “front page news” but lose the civic spirit when it’s no longer considered water cooler talk or the “hot” topic of the day. Seen at least 30 examples on CL alone.
I totally agree that too many Blacks exhibit child like behavior. This is why so many of us are lost. Children need guidance. Children wait to be told what to do. Children don’t usually act on their own unless prodded or encouraged. Children need constant supervision. This child-like mentality that many Blacks exhibit is part of the reason for the many problems we face right now. So when are we going to grow up?
@ Meatloaf – You write eloquently, however your statement that Jews can choose to live as Gentiles shows that you really AREN’T on my level so I will be brief. First – read a few history books, or maybe even the Torah (the old Testament) to discover why that statement is completely asanine. Jesus (a Jew) did not choose to live as a gentile, but I digress. Anywho – I am not comparing the plight of the black (wo)man with that of the Jew, the Gentile or the homosexual. If you read and comprehend my comment in its entirety, you will see that the intention was not to compare – merely to state that Imus offends PLENTY of people. Regardless of whether it be because he calls them fat, ugly, gay, honkey, camel jockey or nappy. Offensive is offensive. If his comments offend – we also have a choice. Don’t listen. There is this thing in America called the First Amendment and like it or not – he has the right to feel how he wants and say what he wants. When he starts burning crosses in yards and shooting black folks with BB guns, that is when we should become “OUTRAGED”. Words are words and worse words have been spoken. Yes – What he said was rude and probably offensive to those to whom it was directed. But believe me, in my 32 years as a black woman I have been called WORSE than a nappy headed ho and believe you me – it didn’t come from the mouth of a white person. And even if it had, so what. Those comments don’t define ME so who cares. We live in America. This is nothing new. It ain’t gone change people so get behind a cause the REALLY matters. Like all these people out here praising and giving thanks to Jesus, instead of to GOD because Jesus is NOT God. Or if that is too heavy for you, complain about the 9 million black children in THIS country without health insurance. Or the dilapidated schools in the inner cities. Getting all worked up over Imus and whether he works or not? Simple. But hey Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson need SOME headline to stay relevant don’t they. LOL
146. Muchacha, I hope you’re not black, because it would be difficult to stomach such a lost soul!
I’m not going to even address your comment about the 2 white women on the team, because you can’t see the forrest for the trees!
I don’t believe that Steve Harvey would have said what Imus said at that time! That’s why Steve didn’t get fired! Imus did!
And trust me, people like Jesse Jackson and Al serve a good purpose! They are articulate, ruthless and respected! Don’t forget, Jesse brought POWs home with his smooth talk!
And, I’m sure Al Sharpton has averted some riots by sitting at the tables with racist white people and admonishing them to back off! These guys are mouthpieces who are ready to represent the cause! No different than a lawyer does in the court room!
You probably hate them because they leave your head in a fog! Jackson, Sharpton and Obama are more politically astute than 98% of the people in this country or around the world for that matter!
No one cares if Imus goes to Satellite radio. That’s where he should be! That way, children can’t tune into him in the mornings while eating their porch! That would send a clear message to other mainstreamers who don’t want to be confined to satellite!
I haven’t seen one tittie on main stream TV since the Janet Jackson mess! Before Superbowl-gate, I saw boobs all the time on “Style” and “E”! Don’t forget, satellite radio has sponsorers too! The subscribers are only half of the funds! And, Imus can’t compete on satellite with the really hardcore racist! He’ll be just another negative show that gets limited exposure from other racist!
I agree with just about everybody in this post. People like J-Queen,Meatloaf,Bill,Chante etc…. We’ll just see how this situation will turn out in another couple of weeks.
But I seriously do wonder : if black people can change? Is this a wake up call for people in the black community (trust I did not need for this one to wake me up, so I’ll exclude myself)? Will we finally pull ourselves together? Can we actually unite together as one because of this incident? Can we, in a matter of years actually bring down these statistic numbers? Are we gonna do like we said and stop degrading one another? How can we SAVE the current and next generation from being lost causes and guide them down through the right path? Are my questions ever gonna be answered in the future??? Who knows. *Crosses fingers and says a little prayer*
Love,Peace,&&Honeyy

My point is that He could have lived anyway He chose to, because He is God! He didn’t die only for Jews! I can see why you digress, because you’re trying to cover a fault! I already know that you will never be open and honest in this discussion! What is your real cause? Homosexuality? Well, gays do chose their lifestyle! So, you can stop trying to slip that in! You were raped or abused or neglected or condidioned to that mess, just like the adulterer and the thief!
I could care less about Imus’s First Amendment rights, because the Constitution ain’t the bible! He doesn’t have the right to get on mainstream public TV and shock innocent women and children with racist/sexist remarks!
Some of those basketball players or “hoes” as you and Imus like to call them, could have been underage (17)! If not, some of the audience listnening certainly are! And, public TV has given me an assurance that women and children are more important than Imus’s First Amendment rights!
Words are only words to you, but to me, in the beginning there was the Word! (sm) And, the Word became a Living Soul and dwelt among us! So, when you cobras go around trying to convince people that words are just words, remember Imus and the story about Humpty-Dumpty!
I don’t believe you are a 32 black woman! And, I don’t trust you! So, just remember that as you play your little game! What you said about Jesus gave you away:
“Like all these people out here praising and giving thanks to Jesus, instead of to GOD because Jesus is NOT God. Or if that is too heavy for you, complain about the 9 million black children in THIS country without health insurance. Or the dilapidated schools in the inner cities. WTH??? You’re patho as well as venomus!
I AM SO GLAD THE RACIST BASTARD GOT WHAT HE DESERVED
THIS IS A STEP TOWARD’S THE RIGHT DIRECTION!!! GO OBAMA!!!
THIS IS A WARNING TO ALL YOU RACIST BASTARDS OUT THERE IN COPORATED AMERICA OR OUT ON THE STREETS(STOP THE NON-SENSE!!!) ARE YOUR ASS IS NEXT
I say enough already this is nonsense and not racists i bet after the game was over those girls were on the bus listening to thier Ipods with some rapper calling them ho’s ,baby mamas, bitches, gold diggers etc and they were lovin it tapping thier foot. next morning they hear about Imus’s non racial remarks and it’s a big blow up GET OVER IT all of us have said and heard the words nappy head since birth and will continue to say it . MOVE ON BLACK FOLKS !!there is sooo much more you could be doing
154. Saffire in Ny, I don’t remember anyone sounding so doom and gloom before this bout! Black people have economic problems because of the mind sets like Imus and networks like MSNBC who give him platform, but have no diversity to level the playing field!
Other than the poverty and related issues, the spirit in Black people is stronger than it has ever been! Our problems would go away if we could get employment and education as easy as the next person, but a nappy-headed person has one strike against them when they walk into the interview! Two strikes if its a nappy headed woman, because she’s a ho too, according to Imus!
The statistic and numbers plauging the black community are the result of poverty! The discrimination and taunting by the Imuses is fuel that feeds into the poverty! The straightness of our hair has nothing to do with our ability to work or the promiscuity of our women, but Imus created a connection.
MSNBC talk show host are nearly all white! In fact, Oprah, Montel and Tyra are as close as we get! Travis gets shut down everytime he tells the truth and Jackson/Sharpton are ministers with advocations to uphold!
So, stop sounding so pitiful! We get to be heard again! That’s a start! White people set the bar on offensive media when they zapped Janet, now we get to watch them eat from the same bowl. Before nipplegate, I saw titties all over public TV! But, never on a Sunday…shame on you Janet!
And, please stop with the emotional plea for us to all come together “as a people”! That’s so selfish and not what Martin meant when he said, ‘little black boys joining hands with little white boys’ etc!
The only wake up call is that the oppressor got beside himself and showed his true colors again! You can uncross your finger, but continue to pray, because God is in control of this generation and the next one as well as He’s in control of the bigots and snakes!
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

There is sooo much more Imus could have been doing too, but I don’t hear you crying over his pasta! You must not have sisters or daughters! You don’t want anyone in corporate America refering to them the way Imus did the Rutger team! That was just unnecessary and foul! Most of us would fight if someone called their Mother that name!
What those girls do in their private lives, whether it be ipods or porn magazines, is their business! What Imus does on public TV is everybody’s business! Y’all need to get off the rap, because Imus ain’t no rapper!
You make it sound like they woke up the next morning and after being told what Imus said, they laughed till they cried! Here’s a litmus test for you! Go to the EEO Investigator at your place of employment and ask them if its okay to call your employees, “nappy-headed”! Oh my bad, you’re not the supervisor!
Okay, lets try this! Tell EEO that someone in the elevator called you “nappy-headed” and ask them is it a form of bigoted harassment on the base of race, color, national origin, religion, creed or lacefront!
And, what you’re mother or father called you since birth is you’re business! That doesn’t mean that anyone on the planet has the right call you nappy headed! The third part of the Serenity Prayer is for “wisdon to know the difference” when your relationship to someone affords you certain rights!
Sorry, but Imus and Kramer don’t have it like that with blacks!

Thank you!!!!!!!! I have been saying the exact same thing on many posts. Whites don’t get their opinions about us from songs and tv shows that are out today. They get it from their ancestors who get it from their ancestors. It has been passed down from generation to generation. I don’t care what kind of songs come on the radio or what kind of shows are aired on TV, they are gonna to continue to think of us the way they always have.
@LadyElle, Massa say he ready to eat now.
I still say his a$$ needs to be fired. Too many people think they can say racist or derogatory things and get away with it just by apologizing.

===============================================
After I saw you asking 66. Jamie E for his hand in marriage, I scurried back to see what he said to get you so excited! After reading it, I don’t think you’re ready for marriage! lol!
You raised questions about the war, New Orleans, Darfur and black respect! I don’t think she wants to marry you for that, but good questions anyhow!
Next, you tore into the rappers like everyone else is doing! I don’t subscribe to any of the rappers that you mentioned, so I can’t uphold or defend anything specific! I will say that I haven’t spent on thin dime on 50 cents, Snoop, Ja, or Tupac! And, I prefer gospel music! The people who buy and listen to rap are not the enemy! Most are kids and Imus knows better! So, he gets no hall pass for being stupid like the rappers! Not marriage materials!
Then you spoke about the Bush administration world crimes and Imus on another radio station within one year! Well, Bush and Imus will have to answer to God for their wrongdoings just like you and I will! But, I don’t think anyone really cares about Imus, the individual! It’s the principle that must be addressed and corporate America decided to join in the fight!! We don’t always get help from big business! This time we shut em down!
Then you said: “I hate to rain on your parade, but Imus was wrong for calling those young ladies a bunch of “nappy headed ho’s”, but our community reaction to this just made another million white people think we’re nothing more than Ignorant N!ggas.”
Obviously, there were millions of us who think the reaction was necessary! White people need to know when they cross the line and they can think what they want about us! BTW – I think that’s just your opinion! Did you talk to a million people? I didn’t think so! Stop the wedding!
We’re reactive and over-sensitive, because we live in a country with people we don’t trust and some like Imus who don’t like us!
Now, you’re whole story about Milwaukee, Wisconsin is only slightly worst that other places! I’ll admit, y’all got it bad! Get out of Milwaukee! But, be mindful that no matter where you go, there will be poverty and there will be problems! So, one could thank Imus for opening dialog on the subject, but this time, we know we’re being heard, because the fat lady sang!
When did we start worshipping Sharpton, Jackson or Farrakhan? Its not a victory when O.J. and Imus get released, but it is a victory when we are heard! Trust me, Jackson, Obama and Sharpton will get a lot of millage from Anus’s remarks!
Then you said:
“Beyonce gets more headlines and comments within the Black community than Bush.” And, rightfully she should!
You said: “I only heard lyrical responses from all of four rappers (Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Juvenile Mos Def) about what went down in Katrina, and only Jay-Z and Juvie had a full song about it on a commercially successful album. But Camron and 50 can make like three or four diss videos within two weeks?”
When did the rappers become the answer?
You said: “Yep, I’m done. I don’t expect or want ANY other race, culture, or ethnicity to respect Black Americans as long as we don’t respect ourselves. Yeah, WE won a small victory today, but we LOST the war when we laid down our arms, left the streets, and went home to watch BET after MLK died.”
We got respect when the big corporations said, lay off the Rutger team!
And, you are confussed to put Martin in the same sentence with losing the war when we laid down our arms! Martin preached non-violence!
You’re a well-thought out young man, but you just can get caught up in the moment and into yourself! I was serious about you leaving Milwaukee!
I don’t preach it! Sounds like you could use some time in marriage counseling with your Pastor! lol!
Wash the lice out of your head, motherfucker! You have been drooped!
*dropped*
Why are yall so surprised at his comments. You know he been around since slavery. his old ass
Can we please not keep putting Don Imus and rappers in the same sentence? These rappers are not exploiting our women. The women who choose to be in these videos whoring themselves out are the ones perpetuating the stereotype. I don’t see rappers like Snoop, The Game, Ludacris and 50 putting guns to their heads saying, “You better get in my video, shake yo’ ass half naked, whore yourself out before I put a bullet in you!” These women do it because it’s their choice. No one is going to do any more to you than what you allow them to do. Same way with shows like Flavor of Love and Charm School….don’t blame VH1. If you are willing to go on tv and make a complete coon of yourself or back up the hype about black women already, then you should be perceived in that way because it’s your own fault. Now these women on the other hand who were simply playing basketball, they didn;t deserve to be called nappy head hoes because some racist shoc jock couldn’t handle a bunch of black women being at the NCAA tournament. These women did NOTHING to deserve what Don Imus called them. They weren’t dancing on a pole, sexing other men, or nothing like on tv. They were only playing basketball. He didn’t know anything about these women or their walk of life. All he saw was a buch of black women playing against some lily white players in a supposedly prestigious tournament. No he didn’t have to call them the N word because that would “truly” make him a racist. He wanted to make his point that those women probably had no business there and not be blatantly racist about it. I have this to say to the naysayers who don’t think he should be fired….I happen to be white male with a six year old son. How would you Black Imus-supporters feel if my six year old son called one of your daughters a nappy headed hoe or called your son a jigaboo(Imus has used this term too in describing blacks)? If you tell you’d still embrace my son and not demand he be kicked out of school, I got some swamp land to sell you!
Redwood, are you sure you white??????
“These rappers are not exploiting our women.”…
“I happen to be white male with a six year old son.”
So you’re white and married to a black woman? What do you mean OUR women? Just askin.
I agree that if Black people didn’t use these words so freely about ourselves then others wouldn’t be so comfortable. In all fairness rappers are calling these females who have no respect for themselves sleeping with men for a chance at fame and fortune or even just for the hell of it ho’s and sluts. Not self respecting black girls who are doing something positive with their lives. That punk Imus had NO justification whatsoever to call these educated, well disciplined and award winning females nappy headed ho’s.
That just goes to show that he probably calls Condeleeza Rice or Oprah a jigga boo as well. F**K him.
nappy headed hoes?…. i still cant believe his ass. he makes me angry. i would choke his ass to death if i say his old ass in the street.
Are we that blind?
White people think things like this is okay because we (as Black people) talk trash about ourselves all the time. Maybe if the word Nigga wasn’t as rampant in songs or in everyday black language…maybe if black men stopped referring to women as hoes in passing like its nothing…maybe if we stopped being hypocritical and stopped making fun of others (ie white people) they would see that it’s not okay to put us down like that.
This double standard that we have is not right. If we want to be treated with dignity and respect then we have to clean up our acts and project a dignified image to white America.
YES, he was obviously wrong for what he said…but at the same time we are wrong on many levels as well. Why do we have Black Student Unions and then cry foul when white people want to make a White Student Union? Why are we upset when we call each other Nigga outloud around white people and then they use that same word casually in passing? How come we can joke about white people on air, but when the joke is from a white person talking about a black person all hell breaks loose? How come we have Black History month, but the minute they start talking about White History month we want to protest?
Makes no sense. What-so-ever. Double standard much?

to ms_mac…to answer your question, I am in fact married to a very beautiful black queen for the past 5 years now. In addition to my son from a previous relationship, I have two daughters with her. As a husband married to a black woman and a father to two beautiful girls who are part black, I was very offended. Even if I wasn’t married or dating one or happended to be the father of one (in my case two), I’d still find the comment offensive because I was raised not to call people out of their names and not to use stereotypes to base your judgements on them. He should have been fired and deserves to be blacklisted.
“I was explaining where the double standards between “nigga” and “cracker” comes from and why SOMEHOW “cracker” does less harm, still I agree that we need to be the first example of how others should treat us, because how we treat ourselves and each other has an impact on how others will treat us. If you don’t love yourself, don’t expect others to love you.”
Thank you Chante, that is all that I”m trying to say. I’m not taking away from the fact of the idiot was wrong, and he may even be a racist, but Black people invite all of that BS on themselves. I will never understand the black race, we don’t understand that WE ARE EACH OTHERS OWN ENEMY!!!! But, yet always lookin somewhere to point the fingers on why we can’t get like Caucasians. As far as Oprah comments and all of that BS, I feel the same way, Don’t hate on Oprah, get like Oprah!!! What will it take for blacks to stop dragging each other thru the mud just for fun for us to see that Oprah is perhaps our most inspirational african american LIVING! She has already went thru the fire in her life and experienced the same thing we all have growing up poor, but guess what…….SHE MADE IT, and she came out stronger than any afro american would ever think we could come. That’s what any God fearing individual would call “PURE AS GOLD”, and “A TRUE BLESSING!”
As far as Snoop Dogg addressing him or no rappers being compared to Imus, BS!!!! Don’t check america for telling the truth, check the entertainment industry for allowing this mess to go down for so long. There is no difference in what Imus said and what Snoop is talking about simply because we all were born of a woman, and whether she sleeps around for free, money or whatever, WOMEN ARE BLESSING TO GOD FOR MEN, especially black women, we are QUEENS so either way of calling women hoes and bitches are morally wrong. And to show the BS, Snoop leagues and mentors an group of poor childrens football team, BUT he does refer to his QUEENS as bitches, hoes, and talk about them like a dog, so what kind of example is he setting for our future? Huh, although it is a good act, I wouldn’t want my children around anyone who will refer to the as anything but the QUEENS they are.
And to show the level of ignorance (some) black people carry is……..question #171 MS MAC
“So you’re white and married to a black woman? What do you mean OUR women? Just askin. ”
Now that is blatant ignorance!!!!!
FIRST OF #54 & #56 I AGREE WITH YOUR STATEMENTS, BEING RACIST AGAINST WHITE PEOPLE IS NOT THE NORM, CAN YOU RECALL ANY BLACK PEOPLE PUBLICALLY HUMILIATING SOMEONE WHITE ON NATIONAL TV,NO, AND AS FAR AS HIP HOP GOES THEY HAVE IN THE PAST MADE STATEMENTS ABOUT ALL WOMAN, WHO DECIDED THAT THEY WERE JUST DEGRADING BLACK WOMAN & I DO SAY PAST BECAUSE THE MUSIC TODAY IS NOT DEGRADING EVERYONES SNAPPING THEIR FINGERS & DOING THEIR STEPS!!!!!!!!!
