I first heard about this movie via Fresh and shook my head. A couple of people emailed me about this film so, I guess I’ll just go ahead and spit out my opinion – no more ‘Beauty Shop’ remakes. Please, we already had ‘The Hair Show‘ and ‘Nora’s Hair Salon’. I think the world has fully grasp the concept of African American women in the beauty salon across the United States, so…what? Challenge yourselves Hollywood and come up with a better premise.
Here’s a quick movie lesson for you all – Did you know Vivica Fox’s ‘The Salon’ was suppose to be called BEAUTY SHOP? As a matter of fact, Hair Show and The Salon battled for the title but, Oscar nominated Queen Latifah got those rights.

Why doesn’t Vivica’s face look tightly wrapped around the bones like it usually does? It actually looks nice. Movie looks corny though. Won’t be going to see this one. I’m surprised at Terrence Howard. He’s moving up in the industry. Don’t follow “Pride” with this garbage.

Wow..we got the gurl from Players Club…i still feel a lil mad at her for wat she did for Diamond. Ever time i see her movies, i always come back to that. U oh gurl Kim Whitley (is that her name?) from the Friday After Next, thats where i remember her from mostly, Soulfood hearthrob, ? and ? and ol dude from Jamie Foxx show AND VIVICA FOXX! I hope they atleast TRY to make it different. I agree with # 7 Babychief…they always put one different person in the movie to STAND OUT. I always remember the asian person on there but now there tryin somethin different…yea right. I’ll prob. catch on HBO next year.

I can’t remember the title, but there was a good independent movie that came out last year about a black woman whose family struggled within a poorly designed housing project (like what housing project isn’t poorly designed) and came up with an improved design and fought the city to have it built. This movie also included a plot about her white nemesis within the government whose family had their own struggles including a son who loved black culture and frequented the same housing projects.
I didn’t get a chance to see it in the theater, because it disappeared so fast due to lack of support. Does anybody remember the title of this movie? I’d like to put it in my Netflix queue.

Believe it or not some folks act because they love the craft, the money is just a bonus…so that’s why you would see someone like Terrence Howard in a not so hot film, they just want to do what they love…
