I like Rihanna as an artist and all, but I am not feeling this song. Jay-Z being on the song does not change my mind of the conception of it neither. Big success to her though. I’m diggin the pictures and her new hairstyle!
I’m sorry to say, but Rihanna’s not in the game for the long haul. Why do you think she’s putting out albums so fast? That Jiggaman is a shrewd businessman indeed, and he’s trying to work her while she’s hot. I sure hope he’s also advising her to invest her money. Or she may be able to do something on the modelling circuit after her music career is done.
Ciara, on the other hand, may be in it for a while. I only say that because she seems to have really grown as a performer since “Goodies”. She’s the go-to person for a hot dance video now (and rightly so).
In terms of vocals, neither are very good, but while Ciara’s voice is merely weak (which actually makes the songs easier to sing along too, which may contribute to their appeal), Rihanna’s voice is ACTIVELY bad.
And this song “Umbrella” is REALLY crappy. It sounds like some sort of malfunctioning robot is singing the hook. Just saying. . .

beyonce’s shoes in the green light video were NOT ballet shoes, not even close. they were fetish heels. they’re usually about 7-8 inches high and impossible to walk in. they have nothing in common with ballet pointe slippers. it takes an entirely different set of skills and years of training to manuever pointe slippers; in other words, beyonce could not hit that pose for anything.
