In there efforts to get a hit show like MTV’s ‘THE REAL WORLD, they failed to capture the essence of what their own show should be like. ‘COLLEGE HILL’ should be about the joys and pains of COLLEGE. Maybe one show focused on the STUDENTS actually being in class– and I think that was the first day. In place of that, they tend to focus more on who’s going to ‘hook-up’ with whom, or what party or club they are going to attend to ‘bring unity in the house’. Do these KIDS go to school or even care about academics. What a way to show COLLEGE-Aged youths who watch this show, what college is all about. If this tactic is to be used for ratings, get older castmates and change the name of the show. And these kids are always drinking alcohol. Are they even all old enough to drink? Makes you say ‘ SHAME ON YOU TRACEY EDMONDS, shame!

What I don’t get is, why are you going to school in a different country if you don’t want anything to do with the culture? You might as well have stayed in the United States if you wanted Starbucks coffee, and all the other luxuries that are in the United Sates that may not be available abroad. I dont understand why ppl insist on saying that the ppl on the show are from Jamaica. Haven’t u ppl been watching the show? It is College Hill Virgin Islands…Not College Hill Jamaica. Please use your intelligence. Saying that Vanessa is from Jamaica and you don’t care that the Caribbean is made up of different islands is just as ignorant as saying everyone from the United States is from New York!! Get a freaking atlas and utilize it!

WE AS A PEOPLE, should not base our STANDARDS on what WHITE America does or doesn’t do.
The arguments such as “there are fights on the REAL World all the time, so it’s ok, etc..” are IRRELEVANT!

Let’s not look to the left or to the right at what others are doing. We have our OWN standards and value system. (Black people weren’t the ones who oppressed numerous races over the past centuries).
As I Black person, I know that fighting is wrong. And they should be monitered b/c it’s a show based in a COLLEGE context!! If the show was Hooker Hill or whatever else, I would understand. But we MUST be careful what we promote, TV is a usefl tool that is used to influence kids in general. I just hope that BET and Black ppl understand that our culture isn’t suppose to bring us down but instead BUILD US UP

I do watch the show but I am not fond of the continued display of ignorance. I must admit that there is fault on every end from the “Cali Kids” to the “V. I. Kids.” Someone said it best in an earlier post that there is a lack of knowledge when it comes to the African Diaspora. I am a young African American college senior from the hood but I have a constant quest to gain knowledge. The “Cali Kids” had a great opportunity to obtain knowlegde from another culture and they did not take advantage of that opportunity. On the other hand…..
…..There is alot of editing done on TV shows especially REALITY TV. Something is obviously missing. Yes Crystal was a bit snobbish but that doesn’t warrant another human being regardless of their culture to attack her. All of the College Hill cast members need to be educated on one anothers culture as well common politeness and how to be civilized individuals.

I watch the show and I’m appalled at Krystal and Fallon. I could never see myself going to another city, country, continent, wherever, and being ignorant. Sure, I’d be homesick and probably call may famz all night crying but I could never ever ever be downright ignorant and snooty. My parents raised me better than that. Now about the fight, I love all the people on the show except for the 2 Cali chix (well I don’t know where Fallon’s from) and I really really like Vanessa, she seems cool but I do believe anyone who’s being run up on like that will defend themselves with whatevaz in their hand like Krystal did. But I personally cannot say who won because I couldn’t see shit since dudes was holdin and pullin them both. I wanna see those 2 fight with no interruptions, and no runnin up and sneakin on a sista and then I can tell. Now I personally think that Vanessa should go for not controlling herself, and while leaving whoop Krystals ass and in the end Dre can go and get a kick in! And hopefully Krystal cries and can’t take staying in this horrible place anymore and goes home so I don’t have to listen to her voice again! We shouldn’t compare ourselves, or shows, to something else. If you don’t find your joy from within, you’ll never be happy. No two people or situations or the same. Both shows are good shows.

for one we are always quick to compare this show to the Real World when they do the same thing on the real world….u have people on the real world that want to drink all day, have sex with people they don’t know, they go to jail they do everything so don’t put the black people down because they are fighting what we need to be doing is sending they ass to a class to learn about how to respect other cultures that was messed up now just imagine if everybody on the island heard everything they would have said about there culture heads would have been chopped off so don’t down us as black people and lift the white people up because they do the same thing. You just never know about personalities on the reality shows. There is usually a whole lot of editing going on. Both sides get their snarky comments in. Vanessa’s rap and her reading of it loud enough for all to hear. Wrong. Crystal’s critiquing of every Island experience is Wrong. Vanessa should have charged out the door if she felt she was unable to control herself. She did not walk up to Crystal, but charged her. That was wrong. When V took it to another level, she made the decision about who should go home a bit easier. She should start packing her bags, IMO. They should consider whether to send Crystal packing as well,because she participated in the fight and she is very disrupting and polarizing.

When I first saw the fight, hands-down, Vanessa started it and should be the one to go home. But when I viewed the re-run I saw that even though Krystal didn’t start the fight, she certainly (instigated) it and should be the one to go home. Either Krystal should go home, or 2nd choice, they both should be sent home. Not only did Krystal pick a very bad time to run off the mouth at Vanessa, with the comment she made it sounded to me she was somehow accusing Vanessa of instigating the fight between JT & Idysha. If it were me in that same situation, and we have a bad history and she accused me, at that age I would have been ready to fight her ass too. But really, Krystal needs to go home because she’s not happy there and is all the time instigating, so who is going to be the next person to go up-side her head? And who is going to be the next person that she will have to take a weapon to? Krystal runs off at the mouth all the time, yet she can’t hold her own and has to use weapons. That is dangerous, so for that reason she should be asked to go home. Some may say she didn’t start it. But if she had taken out Vanessa’s eye with that stilleto shoe, then what?
