I agree with the HOWARD U student. I think that they should showcase more of a real picture of being in college. It seems that no matter where we go or where we are in the world, other races of people always stereotype us as blacks no matter where our hertiage lies. On a historical note, the slave ships didn’t only stop in America. The heritage of African descendants is world reknown. But enough with the history lesson. Now about the show:

Though the cultures are different, the Cali kids and Carribean kids have one obvious thing in common, that is, they are all people of color. The are all descendants of some group from Africa. True enough Crystal complains a lot, but any rational person knows that change takes a little time. You are not going be acclimated to something new right away. And this is the dilemma the Carribean kids have with Crystal. Vanessa is a little abrasive at times. She holds a grudge or at least that’s my portrayal watching her on the show. She just doesn’t like Crystal no matter how much Crystral tries to make amends. When Crystal cooked for the house, I think that was a nice gesture on her behalf. But you could tell that Vanessa didn’t care how nice the gesture was. She already had the “I can’t stand Crystal” tag in her head. The only thing I remember Crystal saying is that anyone who is not trying to stop the groups from fighting with each other is for the groups fighting. And then Vanessa chimes in and goes after Crystal. Vanessa clearly iniated the physical altercation. I think that JT iniated the actual argument when he interjected as the Carribean kids were talking among themselves about things. Though he mad some valid points about one or two things, I think the situation could have been handled more maturely. When it’s all said and done at the end of the day, last night’s episode is yet another example why we as people of color will continue to have the struggles we have to claim our fair share of the good things the world has to offer.

LOL @ Compton/(#160). The quality is really shitty. Unfortunately, it’s come up over the course of each season. I don’t know if you remember much about season 1…but it looked like it was shot with someone’s camera phone. And all those people in that tiny dorm rooom. Talk about cutting corners.

I have taken the time to read the posts on this website. I watched the show last night and have watched it the passed few weeks. I must say the attitude of Crystal towards the carribean culture is a disgrace. This is an opportunity to step outside your comfort zone and embrace something new and different. Being American and proud, I have had the opportunity to embrace other cultures and even though I do not agree with everything. To be able to experience and see how things are done differently elsewhere is great. I have had the opportunity to try different foods, fashion, slang amongst other things. If you give it a chance it would grow on you. Before you can degrade something you have to take the time to explore it. Crystal is closed minded and seem extremely ignorant at times. There are so many great things to do over there and if she would only open her mind to it and stop being stuck on Cali she would have a wonderful time. I now question has she ever been outside of Cali. I wonder how she would feel about the east coast or the south for that matter. We all have diffent things to bring to the table, that we all could experience from. As far as the other Cali kids, their minds should be strong enough to follow what they feel is right about the carribean culture instead of following Crystal. Vanessa never should have put her hands on her. At the same time she has taken insult after insult from Crystal and even when they all sat down and tried to talk Crystal mind was closed minded and was only concerned about her views and feelings. Crystal knew she was going to the islands, why accept the opportunity if you knew you couldn’t handle the environment of another country. I do not agree with the fighting at all and I’m truly disappointed in BET for not stepping in and breaking it up. Society feeds off of junk of that nature and if we as people wouldn’t tune in for episodes of that nature they wouldn’t have anything to broadcast. I just hope that both girls are okay and that in the end everyone can see the ignorance of separation. We have come to far to set ourselves back.

Ive been watching a couple of episodes and while I think kristal is a complete BITCH, I was glad she fucked that girl vannessa’s face! I must say that I’ve watched several seasons of BET’s College Hill, and the previous seasons have been shoddy knock-offs of MTV’s REAL WORD. But this season was actually shaping up to be a good one. The editing was better, the castmates were more appealing for starters, but there had to be a downside. The “California Kids” as they call themselves, seem not to try to ‘fit in’ or explore the V.I. Culture. They have been down right disrespectful, and close-minded. There is already so much segregation in the world as it is, why have even more segregation amongst your own race? Although fighting is never the answer, this situation was a pressure cooker waiting to explode. You can only push people so far before one goes off. Not that Vanessa was justified to hit Krystal. We are seeing 10, 20 minute, episodes, which have been edited, that took place over a 3-5 month period. so basically, the producers of this show are creating a sitcom of sorts.

I strongly believe it doesn’t matter if Krystal was poppin’ off at the mouth, and it doesn’t matter if JT called one of the women out of her name. What matters is, when fist make contact, and Vanessa threw the first punch. Fighting should never be a resolution to a problem, as we saw, it just created another problem (Vanessa’s bloody face).

This is a good example of people not being able to control their emotions. If your life is not being threatened, there is never a need for violence, but in this instance, i think Krystal was defending herself.

Also, from the few episodes i have watched, i think some of the people in the house are not mature enough to handle this situation and take advantage of huge opportunity they have been given.

Oh Hell No… Yall on here actin like Vanessa didn’t start it. I have watched the show from day 1 and yes Krystal has ran her mouth from day 1 and has been rude and bitchy but she didn’t physically put her hands on anyone else. Now if yall were in a house and someone didn’t like some comment you said and decided to hit you for it, would you think that was fair. I don’t give a damn what I say nobody better not run up and attack me cause I’ll shut the whole place down. They are suppose to be adults, we deal with ignorant ass people on a daily that doesn’t mean we can go around and knock they asses out everyday. So my opinion is Krystal had a right to defend herself, just cause she chose to use a shoe in doing so doesn’t mean she should go home. And yeah it was a shoe cause I seen the commercial and they say it was a stiletto. Vanessa threw the first punch, and if she can’t control her anger then they should send her home. What if someone else says something she doesn’t like, Will she attack them to?

Both sides were wrong. They treat the V.I. kids like there not American’s. This would have been avoided had they just said from the beginning that thye didn’t want to go out. Secondly, as others had said before JT disrespected Idesha and there culture not only by calling her out her name but by saying that she must speak like him she is speaking English she has an accent. It looked like she wasn’t even talking to him, which makes that whole fight even crazier. Krystal needs to go because she is to close minded for this experience. Vanessa needs anger managemnet, but Krystal hit her with a shoe and I think I would have fought after that too…

I can’t even watch the Real World this season. Too many screaming YT girls with problems, which is every season.
Everyone of these shows are the same:
throw in a depressed chick, a gay dude, some douchebag, and a volatile mfer, and you have a tv show.

The two ladies were wrong, but i undastand where Vanessa was coming from. If i was there and Krystal was hating against my culture, I would be pissed.

I saw this show last night and was LMAO!! That is good that Vanessa got cut or whatever. Kristal gets on my nerves sometimes too but Kristal had EVERY RIGHT to defend herself. Next time Vanessa will be careful about who she runs up on. Like me, Kristal looks innocent. But you bet not ever talk about running up on me unless you wanna take a trip to the hospital. I think Vanessa should go home because she threw the first lick. Then again, Kristal may volunteer because she is sick of VI anyway.

But LMAO @ Vanessa always talking $hit about what she would to do somebody but homegirl ain’t smart enough to know that you got to be careful about who you run up on. Girl should know she can get killed like that. Maybe not in VI but in America.

Vanessa ended up looking like the fool,smh. She let Crystal comments get to her. People talk about the american culture everyday, but they choose to live in this country. She shouldn’t have let those comments get to her,and this showed how weak she was. I ain’t gone start fighting somebody just because they don’t like my culture instead I would educate them to help them learn more about my culture. One thing about Vanessa that I hate is everytime Crystal said something about her culture she would response with something you need to watch what you say to Crystal. Which was not the way to go.

Ok now…all of you who are sitting back determined to down the show because it features black people fighting…let`s be real. How many views do you think the show would get if it was about college students SUCCEEDING? And that goes for any TV show. No one wants to watch something positive. They want to watch some grimy sh*t.

The Real World and College Hill are on the same BS. Just because it`s BET you negroes are determined to make it a black-white issue. If you`ve even watched a SINGLE episode of the Real World this season, it`s been nothing but bitching and moaning from all of them.

Give the kids something to do with their time like they do on the Real World, let them get jobs or join some organization to help kids, build a play area or something. So when they are in the house they are to tired to bitch all day and nite.

I dont understand why ppl insist on saying that the ppl on the show are from Jamaica. Haven’t u ppl been watching the show? It is College Hill Virgin Islands…Not College Hill Jamaica. Please use your intelligence. Saying that Vanessa is from Jamaica and you don’t care that the Caribbean is made up of different islands is just as ignorant as saying everyone from the United States is from New York!! Get a freaking atlas and utilize it!

Crystal has been talking a lot of mess since she got into that house. She has had problems with both the VI kids and the Cali kids. I saw the episode last nite and Crystal got her ass beat. They couldnt get Vanessa off her. with that being said Crystal should leave the house she got issues. On another note the cali kids should also be more receptive to the other culture. THEY signed up to go there its not like they didnt know they would be experiencing another culture. They dont need to be babysat they grown so they should open their minds and enjoy it. Granted they are far from home but they have to realize that they will not always be in their comfort zones they have to learn to step out of what they are used to. The VI kids try to include them alot but they always got something smart to say about most of the things they suggest.

My take on the whole situation is that JT and Deshia had their lil fling, so everybody should have just let them do their lil thang and make up later. Crystal neither Vanessa should have gotten invovled. I know that they had their tension in the house, but this is were maturity kicks in and it seems none of them are. Vanessa talked a lot of trash and ran up and caught a Cali beat down, she got served.

i agree w/ 21… I don’t really care to watch College Hill OR Real World, but I know that had this been RW the fight wouldn’t have got as far as this one did. Look at any potential or actual “fight” on that show and you’ll see at least one producer getting in the shot to break it up. First off I have to say as a west indian man AMERICANS ARE VERY IGNORANT, they sat there and laughed and made fun of the WI culture when its American culture thats really F**KED UP, its AMERICAN culture that teaches you to grow up and sell drugs, its AMERICAN culture that teaches you to make babies and DONT take care of them and its AMERICAN culture the reason why blacks dont know their real culture anyway, they should have took this expeirence as a postive one and see that there are posotive black people in the world outside of AMERICA instead they wanna form clicks….an AMERICAN thing.

I’ve noticed that the show has been looking that bad ever since the beginning, and half the shows that BET produces look the same way, while some of the other stuff on MTV look at least nicely put together for a reality show. BET either needs to be upgraded cause it looks like they making these reality shows on a budget, and I don’t even see how that is since thats like they only reality show.

But that Krystal girl did mess that chick up, I could’ve sworn she was beating on Krystal like a red headed stepchild. I think she might’ve scratched her face…don’t even throw them off the show…just cancel it completely and come up with a concept that is intelligent, and entertaining. And I see that BET even put up some stupid thing that’s asking us to go to BET.com to see who won the fight.

vanessa did not get her ass kicked by no one. she got hurt in all the confusion by others pulling her off that boney b*&$h. Crystal got her a@# beaten and she deserve it don’t go running off your mouth if you can’t defend yourself.

On BET’s website they mentioned that Krystal used a high-heeled shoe against Vanessa during the fight, and could have put her eye out. The fight was definitely coming, the Cali kids (ex-nay Willie Mac) have been nothing but discriminatory and disrespectful to the VI kids culture. Thats like living in a house with people racist against you. Tensions were bound to boil over. JT is a flake and Krystal deserved her beat down. Sat that it had to happen for them to open their eyes though.

I dont approve of the violence but i am GLAD that Krystal gave it to Vanessa…yeah Krystal is a brat, but that is her personality and she keeps true to herself. They are always picking on her and when that fight broke out ALL SHE SAID was “if you aren’t trying to stop the fight, you are for the fight”…that VI chick was waiting for a reason to get at Krystal.I’m just glad Krystal held her own.
