So, everyone knows that Rihanna is nobody’s singer, however, it seems as though people are loving Rihanna’s new single, “Umbrella,” which originally features Jay-Z. I can’t say that this remix, which features Lil Mama, who is best known for her annoyingly addictive single, “Lip Gloss” improves upon the song or doesn’t do it any justice at all. In any event, Rihanna is trying to let the game now that she’s a main-stay. The girl has put out 3 albums in three years.

I think what I like about Fabolous is his consistancy. He always gives you a single with a female vocalist, and usually it’s a female vocalist who’s about to go really hard for that season. Remember his songs with Lil’ Mo? And then with Ashanti, then he replaced her with Tamia? Well, now he’s trying the same formula with Rihanna, and luckily, people are loving her right now. If I can say anything about Fabolous, he definitely knows how to make a good move as far as putting out the right single.

I posted the Scott Storch-produced “Lock U Down” months ago, and hated it then. To me, it sounds like Mya’s sound has not progressed at all. It was a good move to put Lil’ Wayne on the track, but it just sounds like something from any of her other albums. The video does do something for the song, though. I just wish that Mya would take her music somewhere else and continue to get her dance on. She’s a fabulous dancer. I feel like she’s been doing the same thing since “Movin’ On.”

Remember little Tiffany Evans from Tyler Perry’s “Diary of A Mad Black Woman?” Well, she’s sung songs for Disney, so I guess she’s trying to make a transition into a real artist. If you know me, you know I love this kind of old school dance music. Not only that, but I love when kids make age-appropriate music. Tiffany is 15 years old, and has a pretty nice voice. I can definitely see kids liking this. And what’s strange is, I could definitely see myself dancing to this… in somebody’s club. But I guess that’s not the song’s purpose. Shout out to The Clutch, again!
Both of Rihanna’s did well…..selling more that 3 million world wide, the whole point is, she still made her millions…… still in high demand.

People, it’s a shame that you guys have no idea of Mya’s true vocal abilities. There is something called versatility. While I agree Mya’s sound is softer than most, the girl has SANG on other tracks.
You can’t expect the in your face type singing all the time and it does not suit every type of song. I have heard Mya SANG more than she does on Lock U Down.
You can’t judge her ability blindly unless you’ve been truly exposed to all her work. I have heard renditions she has done on her albums, soundtracks and commercials and not to mention in her live shows (including AOL Live Sessions, Award Shows and Tours). The girl has a good voice. Just that, Lock U Down does not display that. In my opinion, the “sincere song” as she put it, never called for the SANGING you guys talk about.
Rihanna is growing, that much is true. I love the Remix. I think Lil’ Mama is here to stay. Her flow is POPPIN’! LOL.
Tifanny’s voice is good for her age but can do with some polishing (just as Rihanna’s).
The Fabolous song is mellow but not super hot. Am not hating on it though.
All in all, I like all the songs presented today.
And I concur with Dre. On all of Mya’s albums, she has shown growth. The ignorant shall judge her only based on her released singles, but the others who know better won’t.
