This post and the lawsuit is just giving Bee more press as if she needed it. Also, the lawsuit is not filed directly at Bee, its at the record label and producers. How can u say things about a person u don’t even know. We all act like we there cuzin or aunt lol. But I’m sure I’d give it to Des’ree. Beyonce fan I am but if they say no, it should have been left alone. It was pretty bold and ballsy of Ms. Knowles to do so without a blessing from Des’ree. DeSiree has got to eat like everyone else. She wrote the song, she deserves some paper for it. Like someone else said, had the tables been turned and someone decided to remake “Freakum Dress” (god forbid) the Knowles clan would be on Desiree like women at a after Christmas sale.

DeSiree’s version is more soulfull and heartfelt to me. Beyonce’s version is pretty but that is all it is just picture perfect pretty with no depth (in my opinion).

I’m biased. I’ve liked Desiree’s version for years. Its one of the reasons I loved that adaptation of Romeo + Juliet.

desiree’s version almost brings me to tears everytime…i m not a beyonce hater i just think shes better at creating nice danceable singles because shes always inferior at ballads. id much rather watch a beyonce video or hear her at the club, but desirees what id want to hear at a wedding or something. people get all bent out of shape if you point out shes not equally gifted in say, looks and vocals. guess what, like 2 people are- doesnt mean youre a hater.

The two versions have quite different feels to them, actually.

Des’ree’s makes you just want to sit down and cry, while Beyonce’s makes you want to get between the sheets.

I love the richness of Des’ree’s voice on this and I think this is better than most of the stuff of hers that was actually released to radio back in the day. This vocal is so haunting and passionate.

On the other hand, this vocal shows me a completely different side of Beyonce — a more restrained one, but with stellar vocals. This should put to rest any thought that the girl can’t sing. She SANG on this one.

IF, If, IF news of the lawsuit is true, then it’s too bad something couldn’t be worked out. Des’ree could have pocketed a nice piece of change.

I’m feeling both versions. I love Beyonce’s voice in her version and the way she delivers the ‘I love you more than music’ lines, but Des’ree’s version makes my skin tingle and my eyes water.

Wow this has been all over the internet lately..I’ve been smashed by Beyonce stans and been called a “hater” which is overrated when you are stating an opinion..okay back to the opinion of the songs..

Beyonce version was good at the beginning but afterwards she got annoying as hell..I had to turn it off the song..she had to ruin it with “I love You” rant like “Dangerously in Love” which imo required that but in this song it was unecessary

Des’Ree version was really good because she sang the song with passion, emotion, and feeling. Beyonce can defninetly sing but on the real she is very staged..Des’Ree didn’t sing in vibrato unlike Beyonce all the time..that’s what made the song beautiful but hey both girls did a good job Beyonce’s wasn’t bad but it wasn’t the best..Beyonce never to me does good on remakes..esp. “Wish upon a Star”..that annoyed me so bad..she never sings in her alto voice which is her natural voice for all the people thay say she is a soprano..

You cannot rip off someone’s song. This is not sampling. It’s stealing. If you want to sing someone else’s song, go pay them for the rights. I don’t care how insignificant you think Des’ree is. It’s HER song and clearly, she’s good enough that she can write her own music. If you don’t like the terms, write your own songs.

People, get the facts straight…

She had permission to cover and use the song, but they agreed that she would:

1. Not change the title, which she did, Beyonce calls it “Still in Love (Kissing You)” instead of “Kissing You”

and 2. Not make a video, which she did, its on the DVD, but to be honest, its not much of a video and more of a photo montage of Beyonce on the beach

At the end of the day, I think Des’ree is being a little petty. She is credited as a writer on the song and the original title is still a major part of the song. If anything, she should be glad for the publicity that would come. I have loved “Kissing You” for years, but I am sure many people would have never heard it or knew about it until this “controversy”.

The original song is so beautiful, I’ve always loved it. Bee’s version is over the top as usual…. no but really, not feelin Bee’s vesion.

For those who asked about Des’ree. Yeah, one of her biggest songs was “You Gotta Be”, but she also recorded a very big song with Babyface called “Fire”. She also did “Ain’t No Sunshine” with South African Grammy award-winning acapella group Ladysmith Black Mambazo. I also remember a song called “Life” she did for the soundtrack of Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence’s movie of the same name.

I like des’ree better, she has a much stronger voice than bee, I always look for the strength in the voice, where as beyonce can sing she has no strength in her voice she has to strain to get that. so I give the originator this one.

What I don’t understand is that she re-releases B’Day again which flopped adds 5 new songs(the videos to the songs) so that she sells more records. That smart though. As you can see, however she is pullin the wolves over our eyes. Now she’s in hot water for not askin permission to cover the song. Eventually she’s gonna have to pay up for the outcome of that song.
