I don’t watch BET, but I have to say this is the one night of the year, that I actually do watch that channel. I thought last eyars awards were good. I thought they were better than MTV. They weren’t as splashy, bit the audience was much more into the perfomances and there was more variety. What I like about the BET awards is that you get the young folks, mzed in with the legends like Prince and Patti and Earth, Wind & Fire, and Chaka etc. Your not gonna get that anywhere else. And you even get a little gospel.

I also LOVE that they choose Don Cheadle for the Humantarian Award. I read his book on Dafur and it’s great. he’s been doin a lot of good work around that issue, it’s nice to see him get some long overdue credit!

Ok I know Jennifer Hudson sung her ass of in Dreamgirls but so did Angela Basset in Whats Love Got to do with it and so did Terrence Howard flowed in Hussle and Flow but you dont see them nominated for a music award only acting which they should. I feel that BET is trying more to be politically correct than just telling it like it is. Yes, Beyonce did have a great year but I do not remember seeing Upgrade U on the top 10 billboard hot chart. NE-YO’s cd just came out less than a month ago and Beatiful Liar has not even been on the 106 and Park list. If BET really wants to connect with black people start honoring those performers who we love and appreciate in our own community besides those mainstream overachievers that has already paved their way in the media. For example, Jay-Z has already had his time Young Jeezy or Yung Joc could of had that nomination or if they was really trying to honor the hip-hop veterans let us give it to Nas for really keeping it real. The only things that I am proud about these awards, which is hardly any i might add is the fact that Monique is hosting it and that Don Chedal is being honored and the best actor category is sizzling and Gerald Levert and Robin Thicke is getting the respect they deserve. Other than that, Beyonce’s typical award domination and BET’s random rediculous nominations in odd categories is a bunch of bullshit!!!!!!! But I will still watch it because hey… who really isn’t.
