Rhianna has one of those typical carribean voices. that is why people are diggin her all over the world. I went to a Carribean festival in Memphis in May and let me tell you that her is mild compared to some hard core Carribean accents. Some music and voice are like alcohol - it’s an aquired taste. So I can dig her - I used to hate unfaithful til I sat down and took a listen without the expectation of her music to sound like straight r&b or straight pop. So I like it and I am definitely going to cop it. Do you Rhianna.

Rihanna seems to love singing however, she is not a good singer and I won’t patronize her (like Paula Abdul does with those singers who are horrendous) and state how pretty I think she is even though she is an attractive young lady because the topic is her singing. The fact of the matter is that her record label has released three Cds in about three years because I believe they know that if they do not do this people will forget about her and then focus solely on her vocals and not her beauty. Unless when you place a Cd in the player a hologram appears showing how pretty she is we should focus on her singing. If you are going to determine how popular a single is based on radio airplay, I wouldn’t use Houston’s two urban radio stations as an example —- because they suck. They only play regional music. No stratch that they only play Houston rap artists music. The same four or five songs by Paul Wall, Lil Keke, Hawk (may he rest in peace), and Mike Jones, in addition to that screwed and chopped stuff is the only thing I hear on the radio here. Not knockin their hustle but dam it’s only so much chunking up the duece a person can take. Anyway Rihanna is not professing to be the next Whitney Houston, but she does serve her purpose. She makes catchy songs with nice beats. And while we’re all clowning Rihanna what popular R&B artist does have remarkable pipes. I can’t think of five off the top of my head. Music now is get rich quick. Even the most popular artist today won’t be remembered for the exceptional quality of their music ten years from now.

First I would like to say that Rihanna is a very talented and beautiful young woman. She has certain uniqueness about her voice, which makes her stand out from other artists that stay on their grind everyday. Just because her voice has that certain carribean sound to it, doesn;t make her bad singer. Although people may not like her song choice, or the lyrics that she uses in her song, she is overall a young,talented rising star, who will eventually appeal rise to the top.

I just got done listening to the full album at work and i must say i’m really impressed with it, Rihanna made a nice fum album influenced with a lot of different sounds and styles, will the album end the ills of the worlds no but its a feel good album you can dance and do whatever to.

The other day I was sitting around with a group of friends and they were talking about current music. Of course someone brought up Rhianna. I said that Rhianna represents all that’s wrong with the music industry because she can’t sing worth a damn, but yet she’s getting non-stop airplay. My friend’s first defense was to say “You’re just jealous [of her looks]” Now why is it that everytime I comment on this girl the first comment back is that I’m jealous of her looks? No one ever says I’m jealous because I can’t sing like her. (THANK GOD) They never defend her singing, but only her looks. Maybe because they also know that she sounds like nothing more than a cat accidentally caught in the dryer. I’m not hating on her looks (she is a beauty) but the girl can’t sing for shit.

i`m really feelin` this album! no she isn`t the best singer in the world BUT she isn`t the worst either so iunno whut all the animosity is all about. like come on get off chick`s back she`s doin` her so u do u and keep it moving. anyway, i give props to her and all the producers she worked wit cuz the beats are tight and all the samples are on point, and yeah Rehab sounds like What Goes Around/Comes Around — Timbo and J.T. did that track for her ; and Hate That I Love You is very reminiscent of Sexy Love; and there are some Irreplaceable innuendos in Good Girl Gone Bad … but come on those ARE 2 Ne-yo tracks so i`m not surprised.

with that said i like the album alot and i`d give it a solid 8/10 [but that`s just MY opinion]

Rihanna is 19 years old… just a kid trying to do her thing. Living the dream that many girls her age will love to live. She is not the best singer, so what, it doesn’t mean that she won’t be successful. She may not be the most talented, but she sure has been using the little she was given, unlike a lot of people. She is making a lot more money than some of the ppl sitting around crying her down for her lack of talent.

I like her spunk, and the fact that she isn’t afraid to take risks. I will be buying her CD the day it comes out. She is doing her thing, go and do yours.

I think the issue between Beyonce and Rihanna lies in the fact that Beyonce (even if her album sucks) is a way better singer than Rihanna. However Cassie, Paula Deanda, etc, are bad singers too and they’re on the charts so its not fair to just put Rihanna in the spotlight. Like many said, these girls (or guys) are famous because they have a pretty face and a good production team. I’m sure anyone with a decent face and moderate voice teamed up with Timbaland, Ne-yo, Darkchild, Tim and Bob, etc can produce hit albums.

Also, I was somewhat dissappointed with Stargate. Sexy Love = Hate That I Love You, even the BPM is the same. Good Girl Gone Bad = Irreplaceable. Stargate produced all four tracks and its obvious that they got lazy and just recycled the beats with some minor tweaks. So its not her fault that they decided to give her the same beats. However, those tracks were hits (and sounds nice) so I guess thats a good thing?

What Rihanna, is doing is something original I like her voice it’s fresh and new. Her approach to singing is different, who said that R&B should be the standard for all singing? Rihanna, is dearing to be different I remember when many black people didn’t get Prince. Rihanna approach to singing and music is so inventive,fresh,creative it’s going get many traditionalist singers backs up. Rihanna, is giving all black female artist the option to be different and original. Before you cast your opinions, just lister and remove the narrow view of what makes a good singer. I like Rihanna, she no longer a next Beyonce she is a singer in her own right dearing to be different and original.

This is her best album yet! Each one was better than the last. 3 albums in 3 years shows that she’s a damn hard worker, plus, there’s tons unreleased tracks out there which shows she’s been selective in picking the best for each album. I wish other artists worked this hard so we don’t have to wait 4 years for their next album. Good Girl Gone Bad is a solid album; the first 6 tracks + a few at the end are all single material, so there’s hardly any filler (even those tracks are not bad), and I can listen to the album all the way through. Rihanna is also HOT! The only criticism I have is the cheap a$$ cardboard case they package the album in in the US. Otherwise, way to go Rihanna!
