Chrisette Michele is a talented young woman. We’ve heard what she had to offer when the big dogs of hip hop, Jay-Z and Nas, both put her on their singles from their latest albums. Her voice was a breath of fresh air and everyone was wondering what was going to come next for the New York native. Well now, fans have her new album, “I Am” to look forward to from Def Jam on June 19th. For all of you guys that have just fallen in love with her voice, and really got into the interview that she did with the lovely Angel, I wanted to post up some songs. Also, Chrisette’s “Your Joy” has been added to iTune’s “Single of the Week” this week, and she’s currently on tour with Musiq Soulchild.

People said the same thing about Alicia before she blew up with “Fallin’”, when she was getting noticed, people said on message boards “but how are they gonna market her?”. They could market her, John Legend, Amy Winehouse, or India.Arie, so I don’t see why Chrisette couldn’t sell. I have faith in her, if Def Jam does their best to expose her the public will respond.

Ahhhh…a breath of fresh air for once…totally diggin her ish! I think #11 had it right though. I am afraid she is going to fall off like Jaguar Wright (Remember her, singing hooks for Jay-Z?), her debut was wack and she fell off unfortunately. She an excellent studio/back up singer and the girl could blow, but I am afraid that Chrisette is going to fall off too! Jay is good with promoting popular music, not real talented artist.
And please stop comparing her to Beyonce and these other popular music singers. Chrisette is an R & B/Neo style artist in her own right, following the footsteps of other great artist before! Do your thang Chrisette! I will pray that you have great success!

I agree, she reminds me of Jill Scott and I too, like Jill better. But as far as I’m concerned, there just aren’t any female artist with the vocal abilities of Syleena Johnson and Shanice. Though their album sales aren’t flying thru the roof like they should be, those two chicks are BAD! If they had someone backing them like they way these records labels are doing with this one-hit wonders, I could truly see Syleena Johnson being the next Aretha Franklin. I swear I don’t see why people are comparing Mary J to Aretha. To me that’s an insult, Aretha’s voice is heaven, Mary’s voice is ehhhhh.
