Real Talk, I will agree with you that many of us women today are confused about who we really are but most of that is because of the images the media portrays & the misconception that is more often that not associated with those images. I started my own business. Well in my family, 80% of the people I know are broke. Did that stop me? NEVER. I educated myself and CHOSE my own successful role models (#1 is Sheila Johnson – America’s first Black female billionaire, among others), read their biographies and/or books, read books about business, but of course in a field that I love. I will not tell you what cause I want to remain anonymous. My brother is a well paid lawyer, from the same home. My point is, it doesn’t matter what your environment is, if you made up your mind that you’re going to be “the exception”, YOU WILL MAKE IT. That’s what faith is all about, strongly believe in something that you don’t see. I didn’t see money around me, but I believed I could have it, and I never wanted to be a golddigger, I wanted to stand on my own two feet. Also, my parents marriage don’t guarantee that mine will succeed, and didn’t even guarantee that I’d meet a good man. All I ever had was faith.
