Add another chapter to the sad saga of actress Maia Campbell, daughter of late author Bebe Moore Campbell. Mount Airy’s Kevin Taylor filed a police report Monday accusing Campbell, who co-starred with LL Cool J on the series “In the House,” with stealing his Jeep in Germantown.
According to Taylor and his friend Steve Johnson, the pair left Campbell and the car keys alone in the white 1998 Jeep Cherokee registered to Taylor’s father, Christ Taylor, as they went into Johnson’s home to retrieve musical gear. When they came outside minutes later, Campbell and the car were gone, they said. Sources say Campbell has been floating around Germantown of late and doesn’t seem to be in a good way.
Taylor and Johnson each left messages on Campbell’s cell phone, but she did not return the calls. Nor did she return a message we left her yesterday.
Johnson befriended Campbell and invited her Monday to hang out with him and Taylor.
Northwest Detectives are investigating the auto theft. Anyone with info on the whereabouts of the car or Campbell is asked to call 215-686-3353

This just shows that being pretty is not the key to life, being pretty couldn’t stop her mother from passing away last year a day after Maia’s birthday, being pretty couldn’t stop Maia from suffering from mental illnesses and being pretty certianly doesnt stop real life from occuring around you. I feel sorry for Maia some one needs to reach out to her before she ends up on Blvd. of broken dreams. She is odviously not ok and probely not taking her meds.

Whoa!!! She used to be such a beautiful girl, but that’s what drugs will do to ya! Somebody needs to do an intervention and get this poor girl some help before she ends up killing herself…
I heard about this story last week; I didn’t put much into because celebs getting on drugs is common these days. I knew she lost her mother, but I didn’t know she had a history of mental illness. She is in my prayers.
I feel so bad for her, when I use to see her on tv she looked so pretty and I would have thought she had eveything.
Yeah, I read the book 72 hour hold and it was about a woman struggling to care for her bi-polar daughter. Clearly this is the case bcuz now that her motheres dead she is more depressed and has no one who will save her. I am a big fan of her mothers work but I dont think Mia should just give up. She can stay on her meds if she just gets help.

Be real people …. we all know people who have a addiction . And nine times out of ten they burn they bridges . Since she has a choice to get help or not and she choose not too . And now she stealing ….maybe she need to be incarcerated . Afew ppl I know ain’t get clean until they did time . It might help …..

Unfortunately, you’re right. Addicts rarely accept the help offered through interventions. They have to hit ROCK BOTTOM and that’s usually when they are arrested and are placed in drug treartment programs. I’ve worked with men and women released from the “system”, so I’ve had some experience.
The criminal justice system is slowly comimg around to the fact that drug addicts neither get clean in one try, nor do they need to be locked up in prisons for extended periods of time, of course this depends on what you’re arrested for. If it’s a straight up drug purchase charge, you’re usually sent to court ordered rehab.
Clearly, this poor baby is fighting a dual illness: Addiction and mental illness. And I can’t look at her picture without the pain in her face searing through my screen.
I truly hope that she does indeed hit her bottom (in a non-violent way, of course) and gets the help she needs.
I don’t think that pic is her, if so it’s not recent. I saw this pic back in 04, grnated the question then was still if it was her or not. I know this one is her and I believe it’s from 05.

Man, I used to have a thing for Maia back when she was on ITH. If someone would’ve told me back then that she’d turn out like this, I would’ve never believed it. But, her bizarre interviews in KING (2002) and Sister 2 Sister Magazine (2004) were more than enough indication that she was on something.
And, for the record, she doesn’t have any sons–She only has one daughter. Maia has pictures of her daughter and ex-husband on her site (maiacampell.tripod.com).
It’s never a good thing to see anyone in a situation like this (And that so-called ‘Cracked-out video’ that that above picture came from certainly doesn’t help things, either).
Like someone said earlier, Mental Illness + Drug Addiction is a deadly combination, especially when you’re a Celebrity. Industry Insider had a point with the comments about how Hollywood and black people treat their own when they’re going through hard times. Hopefully, she’ll make it through.

It is truly ashamed what is happening to Maia. She is one of the most beautiful women to hit hollywood. I really feel bad for her even though she married a hispanic or whatever he is and had two kids by him, even though she is a race traitor I hope she finds her way. Mental illness is no joke and to add street drugs to the mix it’s a recipe for true disaster.
