We thought that The Fugees were coming out with another album. We thought that Lauryn Hill herself was coming out with another studio album, after those picture swarming all over the internet of her on a “video shoot” surfaced. But just a single, and nothing else came of all of that. Then all of those performances, rumors and comparisons with Amy Winehouse, and people were just begging for Lauryn to come back on the scene. And you’ve got your wish. Although this isn’t typical “Miseducation” Lauryn, I’m glad that she is doing something different. It sounds like she’s finally through with whatever it was she was going through and is ready to offer up her fans what they’ve been waiting on for so long.

Nevermind, listened again. I’M LOVING IT. Very 60′s/doo-wop inspired, rock inspired, electronica inspired. It’s perfect. Not many artists can pull this off. That’s why I LOVE Lauryn. The lyrics/message are great. I hope this is start of a new beginning for Lauryn. We need her.

Her lyrics make so much sense if you’ve ever been through hardship and come through it a better person.
Also, people complain about Lauryn’s alleged “breakdown”. She is a young woman with a slew of children and a demanding career. She deserved a break. I’m 33 with 4 children and a corporate attorney and god knows I need one on a regular basis.
We jump on the negativity bandwagon so often its sad. Any black woman out here knows how rough life can get for a sister. Cut the sister some slack, she had a billion people trying to suck her blood by idolizing her and her music. That has to be draining and frightening.
I am extremely glad to hear her performing again. That was better than Louisiana crab au gratin, dirty rice and peach cobbler–so you know it was real good!

after listening to the real version (not the slowed down version brian is giving us) I still dont like it. Her vocals just sound too off to me. Its like I’m waiting for her to blow, but she keeps doing that gargling vibrato thing. I understand she is singing like that because it’s a surfer movie so she wants her voice to sound like its underwater, but Come on! She could have done the bridge without that annoying affect.
