Since “Run’s House” is gone for the season, a lot of people want to know what Vanessa & Angela Simmons have been up to. Well, they are working hard on their shoe line, Pastry.

Our friend Wendy L. from nitro:licious recently sat down with the ladies to talk about their new line of sneaks, entitled Fab Cookie.

Also make sure to visit nitro:licious contest page for a chance to win a pair of size 8 Pastry Footwear – Strawberry Shortcake sneaks!!

Snippets from the interview are after the jump!

Q: Why the name Pastry?
Both: We originally wanted to use “Cake” but then we realized that the idea was bigger than that. So we named our first collection “Cake” and our company Pastry by Run Athletics.

Q: How many people are involved in the design and production of the line?
Angela: Vanessa and I are in charge of designing and marketing all products. Vida shoes manufactures the shoes. Run Athletics is our support system.

Q: Name a few of your favorite brands, clothing or otherwise.
Angela: Marc Jacobs, Gucci
Vanessa: Juicy Couture, Marc Jacobs

Q: How much do you ask your dad’s opinion and input when it comes to your designing and creativity?
Angela: We ask for his opinion all the time. He is a pioneer in the game of hip hop and believe it or not, his groups popularity truly built Adidas. We respect the knowledge our dad brings to us.

Q: What can we expect from Pastry in the near future?
Vanessa: We are looking to expand into multiple categories, some include apparel, jewelry, and retail stores.

  1. I guess it is true two ugly people do make beautiful kids……lol

  2. Cute shoes….wouldn’t mind gettin myself a pair. These ladies are doin the damn thang. Go ladies!

  3. KSH

Love the shoes and Angela & Vanessa – I need to get my daughter a pair! They are so cute and girly! I love them!

  4. I wish the ladies well. I love “Run’s House” I must add.

  5. Good Luck! They are some pretty young ladies.

I didn’t know Justine wasn’t there mother, until I read it in the Jet a couple of weeks ago.

  6. Congrats to them.

They look really nice. Hope all goes well with them.

  7. #1 Justine isn’t their biological mother or ugly, and they’re biological mother isn’t ugly either, so what are you talking about?

I hope it works out for them.

  8. Slap yourself if you purchase those sneakers.

I wonder who’s hittin’ them though. I know they can’t be saving the pussy for marriage. Rebellious reverend daughters, living in manhattan? Nahhhhhhh. Vanessa even looks like she sniffs coke occasionally. What model doesn’t?

  9. I LOVE THESE TOO BUT I DONT THINK THE SHOE LINE WAS THE RIGHT IDEA

  10. Personally, I wouldn’t wear those sneakers in a million years, but the sister’s are very good at marketing the women’s brand of Phat Farm

  11. @13 Jewel I agree, Justine is not the bio mom of the older 3 children. She is very pretty…and their bio mom isnt cute also..Run is a different looking character…but his children’s mothers are attractive.

I like these girls. Pretty and smart….Just their voices/accent a little irritating

  12. @ # 8 & # 9….

Calm down it was a joke hince the lol at the end…DUH….maybe you never heard that saying before…….anywho I hope these young ladies are successful with this……

  13. I’ve heard that saying toooooo many times Cliff…….it just didn’t apply here.

  14. I don’t do sneakers but the idea is cute..

  15. Ahh Jewel would you like for me to give you a hug…will it make my comment a little better…..

  16. Love wot the girls r doin but dose trainers dnt look all dat 2 me….

  17. Cute shoes I would buy them for my lil cousin.

    Wassup CL Fam!

  18. I am sure it was not hard to start a shoe company when your father just happens to run an athletic shoe company. This is just another case of celeb kids trying to get 15 minutes of fame off the parents coat tails. If you get a job scrubbing toliets because your dad was janitor I bet no one will be around to interview you.
I am now going to go back to sipping on my cup of hater aide.

  19. I love them and wish them all the luck in world. They have a new shoe coming out called Whipped Cream…LOVE ‘EM

  20. I think a couple of the shoes are cute! I hope they have much success with this.

  21. I love these girls. Because they are maximizing an opportunity and playing on thier good name without abusing it al la Scaris Hilton. They make adorable products and I would love to little black girls wearing their shoes and not just “Barbie” stuff. Loves it! I hope they get the distribution they deserve.

    kind.

  22. Not feelin the shoes personally, but maybe some future stiff…

  23. Its kind of funny when you think about because I know those shoes are gonna be expensive as hell! Shyt, I’d rather my child wear barbie doll…ain’t least those are affordable! But I can’t hate, I’m glad they’re doin what they love to do…

  24. mos

@#10…Cafe hell no they aint sayin dat shit for marriage!! Angela fuck wit dis dude from Jersey but he a pretty boi ” thug”! I think dude is gay cause his hair is longer than hers but hey!

  25. It’s nice to see young black women doing their thing, but just because they are young black women doesn’t mean that I will automatically support them. To me these sneaker aren’t cute, they look pastel colored Air Force 1 knock offs in my opinion.

  26. i don’t usually pay much attention to celebutantes-but i like these girls! i thnk they should be given their own shoes whilst/if ones in LA and the other’s in NY.
saying that, i’m not really feeling those trainers-but maybe my lil sis will like them.

  27. The shoes are okay…they just look like colorful Pumas. I personally wouldn’t wear them, but I’d buy them for my pre-teen cousins.

  28. Love them! Love this family!

  29. Ne' Ne'

congrats to the sisters for doing their thing…I havent seen anyone with their sneakers on but apparently their doing good.

  30. The shoes are cute, but I don’t wear sneakers like that so. Anyway Angela and Vanessa are cute, but they brother JoJo thats another story.

  31. @33. OMG that’s exactly what I was thinking…those shoes look just like some rainbowed up Pumas. And the cut of the shoe is so played out like the same style Puma, Saucony and New Balance. Which classy girly girl would want a pair of bulky ass sneakers on their feet? If they were going for girlie athletic wear they should of went with a slimmer/sleeker style. And the color scheme looks like sample paint strips.

But can’t knock the girls for trying. They should try lip gloss/cosmetics or hair products cause they always look nice.

  32. #23, stop being a hater. This not the case for these two girls. I would understand if they were out of control like Nicole Richie and Parasite Hilton. These are two sisters who are doing something positive with themselves. Yeah their parents are rich so what. They went for the oppurtunity and making a name for them selves. Stop being a damn pessimist. You and other folks.

    Love,Peace,&&Honeyy

  33. @ CAFF…..you’re so raw!!!! lol.

    @ the interview/pics
personally, i love the strawberry shortcake joints.
    i’m gonna grab a pair.

i like vanessa and angela….its good that they’re at least trying to do something entrepreneurial, instead of only relying on their bodies, or daddy’s name to get by.

  34. i’d rock those shoes! lol..

  35. THOSE SHOES ARE NOT CUTE..AND SOMEONE WAS RIGHT THEY ARE ON THE NEW BALANCE/PUMA/SAUCONY LOOK…THEY LOOK LIKE THEY ARE FOR LITTLE KIDS….

AND WHOEVER SAID THEY ARE HAPPY TO SEE THEM DO SOMETHING OTHER THAN RIDING THEIR DADS COATTAILS…..U ARE MISTAKEN..THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING. DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD HAVE MAGAZINES OR SHOE DEALS IF THEIR DAD WASNT RUN..CELEB KIDS HAVE IT SO EASY..SO IM HAPPY FOR THEM BUT ITS STILL NOT LIKE SOMEONE WHO BUILT SOMETHING FROM THE GROUND UP….. THEIR UNCLE AND AUNT HAVE A MULTI MILLION DOLLAR CLOTHING LINE SO IT ISNT VERY HARD FOR THEM TO DO SOMETHING..ITS KIND OF EXPECTED….SAYING ALL THAT I THOUGHT THE LINE WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN THAT..LOOKS LIKE SOME STRAIGHT UP BARBIE SHIT

I LUVS IT ! HAHA F THE HATERAIDE THOUGH ITS THE TRUTH!

  37. MS. GOTTABODY

Kudos to Angela & Vanessa for being responsible young adults in the public. I have to admit Pastry by Run Athletics is a good idea. There really aren’t any cutesy sneakers for ladies, it’s either athletic shoes or some other funny ish. I can’t be made at the Simmons hustle.

  38. What's ya name?....Anonymous

Lol……these two been out in Cali WHORING something terrible. Lol…..I guess they think it wont get back to Daddy

  39. K.

I could see kids and teens rockin those shoes. That’s probably their intended market. Good for them. Yall ever notice how Black kids of celebrities, don’t be wildin’ out like Paris & Nicole ‘nem?

  40. Good to see attractive, reasonably wholesome and overall good black young women. They prove to girls that the alternatives in life aren’t being “video vixens.” They’ve definitely had the resources, but it seems like other rich kids (Paris, Nicole, all the kids on Sweet 16) don’t seem to use it to do good and make something of themselves

  41. Base

Too be honest i like them and i also *big Shocker* Like paris Hilton. I Think if the media didn’t pay so much attention o her you guys would’nt hate her as much. If u watch the simple life you would see that beneath all the Bullshit Nicole and Paris do, they are two sincerly nice girls.

  42. i think these girls are real talented, but the shoes are ugly. Vanessa is fine, i just wish her ass was bigger.

  43. well the shoes are quite ugly to me and u will neva catch me wearin them but they are doin a nice job though at being young n all with their own shoes line. So i say kick ass n keep striving!

  44. Kwanza

yall hate on these gurls too much!!!!! but n e wayz do ya thang gurls!!!!!!!

  45. genelle

yow!!!!! dem trainers are fukin sexy man i wan all of dem.loooool
