Really ???
I never knew that…..

Yes, sir. The American slave trade was more visible because the Europeans were far more brutal and the black man in this country actually fought for his rights and did not just adopt the European culture without fighting back. Black Americans are the only race on the planet to be brought in as slaves and now are the wealthiest blacks in the world, have 100 of their OWN colleges & universities, banks, major organizations and long-running media publications. Don’t sleep… contrary to what it may seem, when black people talk people really do listen and follow( not just in music).
However, unfortunately many black Americans are not educated about blackness…worldwide. The ones here act like the only people that are black or of some African descent only exist in the U.S. and Africa. Its very unfortuntely that “our” people do not realize that we are worldwide to an extreme degree.
But I can understand how some blacks can have odd feelings about my latino people because some of us are just as lost about who we are beyond the Spanish part. Some are so deseparate to be considered white that they will embarrass their African & Indigenous ancestors with major denial. To my Latino people…you are not white according to the white American standards and you never will be! Stop talking about what you are considered race wise in Latin America while living in the U.S.
If black and many latino Americans realized the powerful ancestry that we share without all the shame of blackness created by YT that we feed into…we could be a force to be reckon with for sure.
Please speak the truth Candice. Our people are always talking about who is black and ish like the slave ships only came to the United States. But I will say my issue with Latinos is that everyone knows that yawl are mixed. There would be no Latino group if it were not for miscengation(sp?). Show me a pure spanish-blood Latino in the U.S. that came from a latin country and I will show you a lier. Spanish people like Penelope Cruz, are Europeans not Latinos. That is why Arnold Schwanegger made that comment about the Puerto Ricans and Cubans having that black and latin blood. Even he knows the history and he’s not even from this country. You ain’t foolin nobody but yourself.
LMFAO @ #145!!!!!!
Now back to the post at hand…NOT!
I actually like the song. And, I don’t think she needs to worry about Kells. Apparently, he likes girls 13 to 15. She’s a little too legal for him.
I have to agree with whoever said her music is nothing stellar. But really, what female popish r&b “artist’s” music is stellar? She’s just as mediocre as the majority of the female “singers” in the game. She’ll fit right in. Until we shut down the industry – stop buying the music and giving ratings to stations that play it – we can expect to see more Beyonce/Rihanna/Ciara/Cassie/Mya/Pussy Cat Dolls/JLO/Nina Sky clones.
DISCLAIMER TO THE RACE CARD PLAYERS: My humble opinion has nothing to with her not being “black”. I acknowledge that there are talented female Dominican vocalists who may or may not be of African descent. It just so happens that Kat DeLuna is not one of them.
Hey Foxxyyyyyyyyyy! Damn they are ripping Complex a new one poor child!
I’ve heard whine up …. my vote is Hot.
Love her voice; HATE THE SONG!
Not really Melisus. No need to poor child me.
@181:
thanks for clearing that up for the sistahs and brothas on here that do not read a book and learn their history as black folks of the diaspore. but instead just think they can issue out the “you ain’t black enough” cards all because somebody speaks another language. just ignorant. i get so embarrassed when we say mindless stuff like that. it just proves that we know nothing about the world. embarassing.
This song is so lame. I am surprised that anyone thinks this girl is anything but biracial/mulatto because that what she looks like. We need to quit.
this is ridiculous. i hate when people turn shit into black vs. latino on this website. i been coming here for mad long and i hate feeling outta place. her music sucks period. don’t turn it into some racial shit.
You should never feel out of place MizzLizz!! You got universal appeal, Sweetie! Just laugh it off, cause women like you, Kim and Venessa are every mans dream! Olive skin and cold black hair…that’s the perfect combination! Anyhow, don’t trip on these blugers!
blech…
Meat, please tell me you are joking? This kind of ignorance is why I do not frequent this site. There are far too many self-hating blacks AND latinos on here. I’d rather go to somewhere like C&D. At least their focus is mostly hating on celebs. Self-hate and white obsession is so played.

There is no real strife between blacks and browns! Sure, some browns wanna be white and some blacks think that browns are posers, but at the end of the day, we all trying to get a government job from the man! When times get hard, blacks and browns always end up in the same lines! And, when times get good, we end up living accross the street and next door to each other! We just got to learn to respect each other while we’re having fun!
Neither Blacks nor Browns own anything here in the US! Browns can run back and forth across the boarder and Blacks were here first, so we have a head start! We know the game better, but browns have a home base! We are joined by the hip, whether we like it or not!
We give browns direction and they give us protection, if we can slip across the boarder! We are the two most colorful people on the planet! So, I don’t mind this debate, because it will only reveal how much alike we are! And yes, I’d rather focus on real people than celebrities!
Kobe and Venessa, Diddy and J-Lo, Tony and Eva, Arsenio and Paula all knew that Black and Brown ish was the bomb! And, Brown men would love to get with a sista, but they still be thinking about what Sugar Ray Leonard did to Roberto Duran! No mas! No mas! lol!
That’s changing! Brown men are now willing to pay the price to make bed with a black woman! It’s a much higher price than the cost to be with a brown woman! She’s programed to take it different than a sista!
I was telling MizzLizz that she’s got the best of both world!!
BTW, I like your name Lola!

Hay! Kat Deluna you are really cute would you like to go out with me and if you find a answer call me at 319-362-8110.
Sorry guys – Kat De Luna – is 23 years old – will be 24 soon – that’s why she doesn’t sound like a 19 year old – Look her up – (Art’s High school – year of graduation) – not trying to hate – (not that pretty – at all) – but more power to her (I think)
i realize i’m late for this post to even post a comment. but i’ma still give my two cents.
i downloaded her cd. it’s not bad. it grew on me just because of her voice alone. her voice is incredible. this chick has opera training in her background. so her voice is just incredible. first single: ain’t really feeling it. it’s cool, just my mood is a no for that song. she does have talent though [well in my opinion]. and i read somewhere that some spanish artist that’s a legend (or something, no i don’t remember) said that she would be the next selena. after hearing her cd and voice i can somewhat get where he’s coming from. her cd really is all that she says she’s infusing. beats are crazy, but enjoyable at some point with me if not all the time.

her version of the national anthem was HORRIBLE! She sucked!
NOT.
She’s garbage. She owes the U.S. an apology for that horrific attempt at the national anthem on Monday Night Football last night. That was disgraceful. 65,000+ fans in attendance clearly thought so with all of the booing at the end. Check Youtube for the video and you’ll see what I mean.
