LUPE, KANYE & PHARRELL?

Wednesday, June 6, 2007

them.jpg

This new song really goes hard, I love it. Everybody snaps, I even love the simplicity of the production. I recieved a lot of e-mails about this song just today. I am really interested to see who’s project this goes on, Lupe Fiasco’s, or Kanye’s new album. To me, it just seems right that the 3 of them would get on a track together. I am really eager to get the production credits on this song as well. It sounds like it could possible be one of Pharrell’s productions, but I’m not exactly sure. Either way, I’m digging this song. It’s a good look for the three of them.

Simple….VERY simple..maybe I’ll get in it more when I see the video…hope it’s not as simple as the song. I think those three could do better…but I’m more anticipated about Janelle Monae. Oh yea..am I first? Click on my name!

Ah finally some real music & real lyrics. Very nice rhythm. I will be bumping it all day. The dissonance in the piano line is amazing. I LOVE the fact that is is simple. Tired of it being all about the production & not about the lyrics. I have always thought these 3 should do a compilation album together but as much as I love Kanye I think his ego would get in the way lol. NYCE!!!

i give it **1/2 for creativity..doesn’t sound like any crap on the radio so i’m down for it. but its not a straight banger…kanye can do better. sound like they were playing or fiddling with some new sounds and slapped it on the mixtape.

its not wack, but not smashing either

Are You serious?

Wednesday, June 6, 2007 /

I guess because the song does not talk about killing someone, cooking something over the stove, or a stupid dance people want to say its wack? The song is different, it does not have a beat that has been used in several other songs and the song has lyrical content. G.O.O.D music along with good lyrics that speak some truth - Lupe talking about all the money in the world and the things you surround yourself around aint gonna take the pain away - KanYe hit the nail or the head talking about these MySpace models - and I have yet to know the hell Pharrell talking about…lol

@ #17, speaking for myself, I didn’t expect to hear them talking about killing, cooking up, or dancing. I’ve heard plenty of songs discussing those things that ARE wack, so those topics have nothing to do with a song being hot or not…the song is just wack IMO.

@are you serious?
THANK YOU.

this is a good song but of course ppl would rather be banging umbrella-ella-ella instead of something that actually has a message. that’s why true artists don’t make any money. ppl are so hoodwinked by the glam of some of these stage performers that they start claiming unoriginality to be original and true original ppl become wack.

Dear all you mainstreamers:

Pharrell is overrated.

Kanye West is VERY overrated (and that pic of him is very turn-offish).

As for Lupe Fiasco, I am gonna be honest. I am not being a hater but having an opinion and a point-of-view that comes rare on this website. But if you listen to mostly what’s on the radio then you are gonna think Lupe Fiasco is the best rapper of 2007, a genius, a breath of frsh air, etc…But if you are an true listener to underground hip-hop you will realize that Lupe Fiasco is nothing unique. He is just like Mos Def, Common, etc…the only difference Lupe is mainstream and is on the verge of being overrated. I’ll say this it is good Lupe is getting radio play so you young, dumb, yet-to-come people can listen to concious rap for once…but, to me, his music is boring and I have heard better from rappers that are unknown. He is talented and very adorable, but he is nothing unique.

I wouldn’t say Pharell is overrated.

But “Skateboard P” is just unbearable.

As I have said in a many of Pharell post, I prefer him behind the scenes, on a hook or two and mostly in his N.E.R.D vibe.

THIS SONG IS FREAKIN FABULOUS!!! I fell in love after 24 seconds. The singer sounds almost like Adam Levine, the lead singer for Maroon 5. It’s really simple but its so different from what is currently popular. I’m loving the feel of it and definitely the sound of Lupe’s voice. Like Compton said, it is just something about him…loves it. I could’ve done without Pharrell. I wouldn’t have minded maybe Common or Mos cuz I don’t know what P was talking about but it was useless and didn’t really fit with my new boo Lupe and Kanye. Thanks Brian!!

I dig this track so much. Yall about a week late on this one, but its cool. Its hands down the best song off the Can’t Tell Me Nothing Mix Tape. Like a few people said, the song completely samples “eraser” by that dude from Radiohead. Its not as much of a collabo as it is just jacking the chorus from the original, but still this ish is off the chain.

As far as Kanye being overrated, say what you will about his flow, the nigga knows how to put togehter a good album. (Even his mixtape is fye)That’s more than I can say about most of these nursery rhyme rappers out today-ahem, Curtis.

69.

Meli Mel

Wednesday, June 6, 2007 /

….I am a fan of all three artists…however, I wasn’t really feeling this joint the first time I played it…but I dig it now, I really had to listen to the words and feel what they were saying before I decided to trash it(which a lot of folks don’t do before they decide to comment)…cool points on the beat they chose to ride…To those who don’t think Lupe is unique, oh gosh, ya mad?…..go cop a listen to his mixtapes, don’t base his talent on kick, push, && I gotcha…..boy got flows…but opinions are just that…go CRS (aren’t they doing a full studio album?)

71.

not really

Wednesday, June 6, 2007 /

@twisted babydoll

pharrel- anyone who has turned out so many hot beats for many artists of different genres can’t be that overrated. i still bump “she loves to move”

kanye- now he’s overrated but his first album was great

lupe- he’s not like mos and common. they come from diff worlds. he’s a skateboarder, he watches anime, has an obsession with robots. he’s very different from them in the topics he chooses to rhyme about. i couldn’t see either common or mos writing “kick push” so yes, he’s unique in the rap world

MY PEOPLE MY PEOPLE. JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS. THIS SONG IS NOT PRODUCED BY KANYE OR PHARELL OR ANY HIP HOP PRODUCER FOR THAT MATTER. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THE GROUP RADIOHEAD? ANYWAY, THEIR FRONT MAN IS NAMED THOM YORKE. HE’S A SOULFUL ASS WHITE DUDE. THE BEAT THEY ARE RAPPING OVER IS FROM HIS SOLO ALBUM THAT CAME OUT LAST SUMMER CALLED “THE ERASER”. THE NAME OF THE SONG IS ALSO CALLED “THE ERASER” THAT IS THOM YORKE SINGING ON THE HOOK. COP THAT ALBUM! I’M MAD, I WAS MAKING A MIXTAPE SAMPLING ALL THE SONGS ON HIS TRACK. I HAVE BEEN PUTTING IT OFF AND NOW THESE DUDES ALREADY DID IT!!!! AHHHHHH!!! PLEASE CHECK OUT MY MYSPACE PAGE!!!!! CIRKA!!!!!!!!!

When i first heard this song last friday i swear to Reeboks that I had a tear in my eye for the rebirth of hip hop. It made me happy to hear this nice music from the three of them
