Since it’s the weekend, it’s a good time to talk about another upcoming movie.
Will Smith stars in another science fiction and slightly horror thriller. “I Am Legend” is based off the Richard Matheson’s novel of the same name, but the film will follow closely to the premise of “The Omega Man”, the second film adaptation of the novel. The story is basically based off a former military scientist (Smith) who after an apocalyptic event is said to be the “last man on earth”…but, he may not be alone.
It looks to be an exciting film , especially for those who have already read the novel or seen the film adaptations based off the book. I definitely look forward to this being a huge Smith fan anyway…

All of Denzel and Wills films lately have had a latino love interest. Is this to appeal to a larger audience?

OMG I read the book and it was EXCELLENT! If they stick to the story line of the book then this is going to be a great movie! Then it has Will Smith sexy self in it, i go to see most of his movies just to look at him!

Looks like a good flick. I LOVE Will so, i know i’m going to see it. Besides Hitch, all of Will’s leading lady’s have been black. Tandi Newton is mixed, but a women of color nonetheless. Except for Mississippi Masala, and Out of Time, I belive all of Denzel’s leading ladies have been sistas. Well, about to take the kids on an outing, so have a great weekend CL!
American Gangster is based on a TRUE story Frank Lucas was MARRIED to a Puerto RIcan woman so she would be latino.
Will’s Wife in this movie is also BLACK..she is just light skinned.
In the Inside Man his wife was BLACK and yes she was Darkskinned. IN the Pursuit WIll’s Wife was Black.
However I do agree with you to a certain extent like NIA Long said if two Black people were the MAIN characters it would be seen as a Black Picture.
Training Day and American Gangster they are Latino.

oooohh, I’ve read the book! It wasn’t really my type of genre but it was good nonetheless. Will is definately fitting for the role. Will should have gotten @least a Golden Globe for “The pursuit of happiness”. That movie was amazing. And I think it’s about time he got recognized at the academy awards. Maybe not with this movie but he should be reconized for something.

I do want to see this, but I hope Will makes a more serious typeof Drama movie this year also.
Some critics didn’t like Pursuit of Happyness it got mixed reviews. I liked it though, but if a movie gets mixed reviews, he’ll more likey get a nomination and not win. Forest Whitaker was better in his movie though
His day will come, but no with this movie lol. He has a few good films coming up. Not this year though. I looked his next films are for 2008.

Is Denzel (he’ll probably get a nomination ) winning probably not two Black men winning after each other umm IDK, plus his role is kind of similar to Training Day, but IMO it’s not b/c in that movie he was the clear cut bad guy. American Gangster it seems like he has two sides, like Al pacino in the Godfather
Terrence Howard- May get nominated he has like 4 movies coming out this year.
One is THe Brave One with Jodie Foster he may get nom for Supporting.
Don CHeadle- Has a film coming out called Talk to Me may get some oscar buzz.
Taraji is in the film too playing his wife…maybe sup. actress.
Samuel L. Jackson plays an aging boxer in a movie called Resurrecting the champ he may get a nom for supporting (Josh Hartnett stars). People are already saying it’s his best performance.
Morgan Freeman has 2 movies coming out Gone Baby Gone and The Bucket List with Jack Nicholson he may get nominated too.
LOL as you can see I like movies , but so far that’s about it, maybe more will come up soon.

I agree with you number 24. At first I was thinking Resident Evil but 28 days later is closer. Its also another movie thats sorta like this but I cant think of it. Any hoot. I wont be able to see this in theaters but Ill look out for it on dvd or Starz.

I might go and see it only because I am a fan of Salli-Richardson Whitfield who by the way is Latina. Her mom is African American / Native American and her Dad is Irish. Im not a fan of Will Smith but this movie looks good.

Why in the hell do they show these movie clips so early this movie will pretty much be out next year! OMG
If this movie is about vampires, I definitely won’t be watching it. But if it’s not, I will probably be checking it out. Looks like a good movie. I will just have to be reminded about it come December.
The reason why Will has only graced the judging tables of the Academy momentarily without every walking away with the Golden Glory is simple. Will Smith is electric and undeniably attractive. Not attractive in the shallow –tall, handsome, amazingly sculpted body– way, but in a pure magnetic, people can’t help but watch him way. Because of this innate charisma, he will always work. However, Will is as much in love with himself as we are with him and he will undoubtedly bring his personal self to the silver screen each time. It’s great (Eddie Murphy is a classic example) to watch. Yet, if you want to be hoisted on the Wall of Greatness, alongside Dustin Hoffman, Robert Dinero and Denzel who can play any role from an autistic man, a catatonic schizophrenic, to a revolutionary leader, you have got to check your own personality at the door. ACT – for surely, that is what they throw millions of dollars at you to do. I doubt Will will ever be willing to put himself aside long enough to really act through a 2-hr movie. Therefore, we will have to ready ourselves for a mildly entertaining charade that will inevitably lack any artistic depth or form. I’m sure they’ll be enough explosives, camera tricks, and hopefully a couple of nude shots to get us patient watchers to the end. (Had it not been for the shower scene in the beginning of I-Robot, I would have demanded a refund.)
The movie IS about Vampires. They always show movie trailers months and months before they are released to get the public hype for it.
I do agree with #53 he ALWAYS plays himself in his movies. No matter how different the character is the persona is ALWAYS the same.
It’s not a Spoiler BTW in future trailers I’m sure you’ll see and in the movie’s summary it also says that.
Anyone who has read the book series knows what it is or have seen the old movies.
#53 An actor who plays himself EVERY freaking movie is Morgan Freeman if he can win one than Will surely can. It’s not a bad thing though some actors can be extremely Versatile like Johny Depp, while others can be good at playing the same role over and over like Julia Roberts (who also won an Oscar). I however prefer more Versatile actors.
