NEW ARTIST: PAULA CAMPBELL
Thursday, June 28, 2007

There has been a soft buzz going on about Miss Paula Campbell for a while, but I think this is just the beginning as far as shedding light on Ne-Yo’s new protege. She’s been on tour with Ne-Yo for the past couple of months and has garnered some pretty good comments from reviews I’ve heard. Her first single, “Ain’t Nobody Stupid” is being added to radio. Although it’s not my favorite of the material I’ve heard from her, Paula is shooting a video for the song. The song really seems a little dated and I don’t think it’s a very good representation of her other work. But I think she has the potential to release a nice first album. Hope she doesn’t get lost in the mix of “R&B chicks…”
Paula Campbell - Ain’t Nobody Stupid (full) - download / alternate
Paula’s debut, I Am Paula Campbell will be out sometime later in the year. For more information about Paula Campbell, log onto her official website, paulacampbell.com or make sure you hit her up on MySpace!

And that’s what’s wrong with music consumers today. LOL. See how the first commenter talked about her looks and didn’t even mention the track Brian posted? Come on people! LMAO.

Her voice is okay… better than most of our female “singers”..I am actually listening to the track now.
And yes she is pretty and I hope she has the ability to stick around and have some success.

not bad, i dig her for some reason. i would like to see if she sounds as good on something uptempo. this song is really really good to me, good introduction track, but needs another song for her first single, great ’street’ single. i’ll be waiting on more music from her and she kinda looks like superhead but is really pretty.

I like her voice…sounds kinda like Keyshia Cole in some parts of the song. I thought the song was ok, nothing special.

Let me guess what the content will be before I listen to the song. A black woman, talking about a black man “doing her wrong”? Then she realizes he’s a “dog” and so she “moves on” and “packs her shit”. She’s “not these other chicks” and she knows he’s “doin wrong” because “aint nobody stupid”.
Right? [yawn with a chew]

She used to have some decent songs that came on the radio in Baltimore. I’m sorry but she will forever be the Shoe City girl in my eyes.

She is BEAUTIFUL! Unfortunately her voice did nothing for me. I don’t see anything that separates her from the other female singers.

Paula has been a staple in the DC/ MD area for a minute. Good to see that the rest of the country is taking notice. She proves that grinding does pay.
However, I have definitely heard ‘local’ records from her that far display her talent better.

I’m still on vacation……my job is the coolest!
Paula isn’t bad. I’m liking her voice. I hope she won the contest for Ciara to direct her next video. Either her or Samatha Jade– she’s good too.

I remember Paula Campbell. She’s been out for like a million years in Baltimore. I wish her all the success in the world. God knows she’s worked for it.
I do like some of her other songs better.

I love the production of the song and I listened to it about 50 eleven times. My only criticism is her look. Is there like a cookie-cutout for artists now. I understand the ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it concept’, but the same old look becomes tedious and boring.

This is how us females really feel! Ain’t nobody stupid!!! Can’t wait for her album to come out. She is the first lady of compound entertainment.

She’s nowhere near new. She had an album out a few years back, but I guess unless you were from Baltimore/DC are you wouldn’t have heard it. I have it. She’s talented, so I hope she’s getting the right exposure.

If I was just to have heard this without knowing who the aritst was. I would have thought she was Keyshia Cole. It sounds like the kind of song she would record. I like the song I really like the hook.

I’m from the DC area and Paula’s been around for a while, but mainly on the Bmore scene and she also had a Shoe City commercial. I remember first hearing about her when I attended Morgan. I always thought she was a pretty good singer and it doesn’t hurt that she’s attractive. With the right producers and a good label push, she could very well take off.

PEOPLE NEED TO STOP HATING ON HER SAYING THAT SHE IS JUST ANOTHER STUDIO. I SAW HER IN CONCERT WITH NE-YO AND SHE COULD BLOW MOST OF THE GIRL OUT OF THE GAME VOCALLY. SHE’S BEEN AT IT FOR A WHILE SO PEOPLE NEED TO STOP HATING.

This is not her first album she had one out in 2004 “Who got next” on an indie label (blakbyrd music). The single off that album was “champion”. She can sing but there’s too many female singers out there for her to survive. Kelly Rowland can’t even sell records. This singer will be looked over like many others.
