Fantasia KILLED it at the Tonys. Of course the white people didn’t appreciate her type of voice tho. I loved her performance, the dress on the otherhand…not so much. we both cried when she sang (Fantasia and I lol). I saw the original cast of the Color Purple and, I wasn’t sure about the idea of her joining the cast of the Color Purple as Ciely with her type of voice, but since that performance I see that she can hold her own.

well, hip hop artists have always represented in the ny puerto rican parade. krs one, diddy, fat joe, marc anthony, maxwell, and so on and so forth. j-lo has been in it thousands of times so her being in it is nothing new. the problem is that the puerto rican parade is less and less of a family parade by the year, and it has become a place where one can “rep their hood” and cause problems. it is definitely not the same parade that i went to when i was a child and am highly over it.

as for eve and kobe, they look good and at least hes in the spotlight for something positive.

its not a requirement to be puerto rican to be on the float. r&b station 98.7, and hip hop’s hot 97 and 105.1 have had floats in the parade for years! and as for all this black/latino racism, i honestly didnt see it until i went to college and was shocked. i have african features and am proud, and to this day, love black people as much as i love my latinos. as a matter of fact, i relate more to the black community than the puerto rican community. only when i went to parts of brooklyn and spoke w/people from other states did i truly see this “racism” some of you have spoken of.
