Hi all. First of all I am from Barbados and I’m shocked at Rihanna’s statement. The thing ppl need to understand is that Barbados is not very fussy about celebrities. We don’t care that much. Acting/singing or whatever is just another job. We don’t bombard ppl for autographs like a lot of ppl do in the states. We dont line up for hours to buy tickets to some concert.

We do however, acknowledge a job well done. Every acheivement of miss Robyn Rihanna Fenty has been lauded in our local press. We are all proud of her. I am from Barbados too and Bajans are just like black people everywhere - we hate it when someone we know leaves us behind. i am a bajan girl who is into the news and affairs in barbados… this is the raw truth not twisted like that girl rihanna has it. nobody said anything in the papers about her wearin a swimsuit at the beach… where she went wrong was wearing a swimsuit in a business establishment…. a popular restaurant that has rule on dress posted on most of their doors before u enter. i think her comment showed just how imature she is and she still has a lot to learn. dont get me wrong i like her sounds even though i can do a much better job myself, i’m not hating. i think alot of ppl hate the fact that she cant really sing n made it that far while they are others that are trying to get to that point n can sing. our island has alot of undiscovered talent.. bajans also do not respond well to ppl that are snobby.. and sad to say thats her disposition in public..

I’m amazed at how I see people on here talking about how they DON’T LIKE Rihanna… but yet they took time out of their NO LIFE to read this little blog… So what does that say about them… You don’t like her but you are reading about her… WOW… You’re a LOSER!

Hmmm…. Rihanna does seem full of herself. One of my friends who attends univeristy in Barbados said she walked up to this good looking guy, and thought that just bec she was “Rihanna” that he would pay her attention, only to be ignored. His friends thought that he was crazy since he was the cutest guy on campus and “hott” Rihanna was giving him the sexy eye. He held his own and said that while he knew who she was, he was not attracted to her because in real she isn’t that pretty. Now, yes Rihanna is a celeb, but she needs to remain humble… I think she is going a little too fast too quickly. I am from Trinidad and I go to BArbados quite frequently and it is true they are not into this whole celeb craziness– cricket, soca, crop over, carnival, Alison Hinds, Machel etc… thats what we in the Caribbean love a lot and those Caribbean celebs that I just mentioned don’t walk around snobbing at people, but she does. I am happy that she is in the process of becoming successful, but she should not get too big for her breeches! The thing is, there are people in BArbados who can sing wayyyy better than this girl (Kimberly Inniss) and I think what gets to them is that when this talentless off key girl returns home, she wants to play “hoity toity”– or miss thing… when there are more deserving talentend atrisites in that island, if not throughout the region. She needs to remember that if it were not for that friend she wouldn’t be where she is today… she might still be in BIM counting the grains of sand, and watching MTV, VH1 and BET longingly. Plus you don’t go on international media and bad mouth your country– hello… I’ve never heard an American or Canadian do that, unless they were a terrorist under some sort of mind control.
