With the introduction of programs like child support, welfare and section 8, the government changed our communities viewpoint on children, not our men.

Before those programs were instituted, having children out of wedlock was looked down apon not it’s basically celebrated. Women are having children left and right without any responsibility or remorse because it has become a sort of income to live off of. Section encourages women to live on their own. The child support system is soo baised. I know plenty of my friends who have unfairly caught the short end of that program, that it just disgusts me. I refuse to have a child with a woman out of wedlock after seeing what the female biased court system can do.

So do I see illegitimate children as another bill? Until I decide that I want to have children, yes I do.

Without getting into particulars, I had a cousin who had hooked up with this chick who had 5 kids from a prior relations (three of kids had different father, if that matters).

Anyway He (my cousin) falls in love with this chick, and as a result started to have feeling for her kids.

He starts to take care of her kids (financially) and they started to call him daddy….

The chick was a shiesty type of chick
* I think you youngins refer to a person like her as a “jump off”.

Anyways, it wasn’t long before the chick decided to resume her cheating ways, and my cousin busted her with different dudes a couple of time (what can I say about my cousin except that He’s not the brightest guy in the world, but he DOES have a good heart).

The problem:
The Five kids have become SO attached to him.
EVEN though him and the chick are not together anymore,
The kids STILL call him on his cellular, asking to see him, hang out with him, etc, etc.

My Point:
A Lot of woman mistake kindness for weakness, so BLACK MEN be VERY CAREFUL when deciding to take care of your woman’s children (if they kids are not biologically yours).

Not to mention the OTHER issues that are very relevent:
The Child REAL father - What/How is the child relationship with their father, and how do YOU (the man) fit into the equation ?

How does the child’s REAL (Biological) father feel about you disicipling HIS child ???

How does the child’s REAL (Biological) father feel about you having sex with his baby’s mother.

It’s a real world out there, and these are REAL issue that a Black Man must think about when dealing with a woman who has children from a previous relationship

My brother’s son is like my son, the ONLY reason he is not still in my home is because he missed his mom. He graduates next year. When my brother was hustling on the streets, I had my own baby, his baby was with me. A single mom (teenaged) with two jobs NOT on welfare! Thank God for my baby’s granny, RIP mama Burta, she helped me with both those kids. My nephew is 3 months older than my daughter. My nephew went back to dc when he was 3 and came back to me when he was 11. thats when my brother went in. Now this kid graduates next year and wants to come back. Do I say no? Senior is VERY expensive. My own child graduates next year! Do I say no? ABSOLUTELY NOT! He needs me! And I will be there for him! Not out of love for my brother, his daddy, but out of love and committment to my nephew! Do I expect to be congratulated? NOPE! I am his auntie and I have loved him since the day he was born! He will go to college! ( I taught him how to read! He was 2-3) He will NOT go to jail/ prison or the military! My Congratulations/pat on the back will be to see him successful and happy!

We have no older brothers, and we don’t get along with our father. They got so attached to my ex, I think they were more upset about the break up, than I was.

My sister was devastated she lost her older brother…My brother was like 5 when this happened…when RJ stopped coming around, he asked “why RJ doesn’t love us anymore.” It broke my heart & broke me down.

Hey CL Family!!!!!!! Sha-Sha, whaddup Ma, you still got me rolling with the “skydiver” comment. LMAO

WHY IS IT if you critique Tyler Perry black people act as if you’re selling out or hatin’ on a brotha doing his thang?

Just because he’s talented (no question), and the messages in his work are supposed to be positive (though stereotypical), and he’s made a ton of money (by catering to church folk and lonely black women), anyone that challenges whether or not his films and plays are the new minstrels are accused of “whitewashing” his material. Looking only to compare his comedy to that of white counterparts.

Aren’t we missing the point? The question we should be asking is how truly funny, creative, and innovative is Tyler Perry. And do we go on excepting that black or urban comedy doesn’t have to be groundbreaking and original. That actually challenging the comedy generated from “the hood” is like expecting Flava Flav to become articulate. What is so wrong in expecting more from our talents?

Let me give you an example. I’m sure we all agree rap music is not what it used to be. One of the main issues concerning the hip-hop community when it first reached popularity was not selling out. Not forgetting that the art came first and commerce came only as a result of the art. Now it’s become the total opposite. Money is the ONLY theme and the art isn’t even a factor. Sure, there are a few that try their best to hold it down but even Young Jeezy claims he’s not a hip-hopper. He says he’s only a street hustler turned rapper who’s basically benefiting from the trailblazers of the art form. That’s like BET’s ComicView comedians saying they know nothing about Richard Pryor, they’re just trying to make a come up. Art becomes second or null and void, making money the primary objective.

Though I don’t in any way feel Tyler Perry’s only motivation is “getting paid”, I do believe he has sacrificed some of the art for what a community of people have settled for. It is tricky critiquing a man I am actually proud of mostly because so many of you support his work unflinchingly. But a man with his success has to be prepared to be called out about the quality of his entertainment and how it impacts his audience.

We seem to get too hung up on what’s positive as opposed to what’s genuinely well-done. But what’s so positive about two dimensional stories with no complete substance? The metro-sexual looking hard working black man who saves the strong (or weak) attractive black woman from either the bourgeoisie abusive husband or the thugged out drug dealer. Then of course we have the elder who preaches how we’ve got to get things back to how they used to be back in the day. Topped off with the comic relief of the over the top, gun toting, weed smoking Madea who puts everyone in their place. It’s so formulaic you know the ending half way thru the story.

Face it black people, we have settled for what we define as entertainment. No one’s saying he has to be the next Judd Apatow (the cat who wrote “The 40 Year Old Virgin”), or the Farralley Brothers (the guys who wrote “Something About Mary”) or even Chris Rock. But when will we be more receptive to humor that expands outside the realm of stereotypes? Dave Chapelle seemed to do it with no effort whatsoever and WE GOT IT! Intelligent, highbrow humor that dealt with our racial concerns but managed to do it creatively while staying innovative. It’s all about balance. If there were more Dave Chappelle’s out here there’d be no need to debate it. But unfortunately “Norbit”, “Big Mama’s House”, and Madea seem to be the only way of getting us to the box office. Do you watch “Everybody Hates Chris” (which is very good) or we’re you counting down to Tyler’s “House Of Payne”? “The Bernie Mac Show” or “All Of Us”? Did you know a sister created the hit show “Grey’s Anatomy”? Creative black comedy or the same-ole, same-ole?

This commentary is not to bash Tyler for doing what he knows best while generating quite a fortune doing so. I’m just an arm chair quarterback with another opinion out here. But I do know that if we don’t start thinking outside the box we will continue to stunt the growth of future generations of comedic writers and comedians. It applies not only to entertainment but to everything we excel in. So the next time someone black says they don’t feel Tyler Perry all that much, instead of getting on your soap box for coming down on the brother, listen to what they mean. They’re really looking for the growth in an obvious comedic talent that will not only benefit his artistic future, but ours as well.

Love ya Tyler, for real…..just step ya game up yo.

I dunno Nikki sis. My aunt gets $800 a month in child support for her son and that’s her ONLY child.

The problem with child support these days, is that (I believe) it goes by a man’s income. A large number of men being hit up for support are living large aka BALLIN!, but don’t have the stubs to validate that (if you know what I mean.)

I also know A LOT of people who cheat the systems too. Being supported by their drug dealing boyfriends, but still get approved for low-income housing & checks from the state every month, because the only household income on record is the chick working part-time at McDonald’s.

Stevie Wonder could see that Isaih Washington’s stupid ass was going to get fired. When you’re lukewarm you get spit out. You can’t attack homosexuals and then beg them for forgiveness. It doesn’t work like that. You really shouldn’t attack anyone and then beg them for forgiveness because you shouldn’t put your hands on someone unless it’s their life or yours. Then he said what he said and bitched up. Nobody respects a man that doesn’t stick to his guns, not even Satan. He couldn’t find anything more pointed and articulate to say than, “I’m mad as hell.” If he’s mad it’s because he realized that he got played. The Gay Mafia made him run the gauntlet and still gave him his walking papers, and it’s not a surprise at all.

This society is rapidly moving towards an atmosphere where what was once “alternative” is now mainstream and all those that hold on to any type of morality or truthful belief in God will either have to keep it to themselves or go out like a soldier. The First Husband is going to have a lot of pent up (angry) emothions, because now he has lost his wife to this other dude, they are sexing in the house that he is paying the mortgage on, and the child that he has raised and is paying child support for is now calling someone else daddy.

I personnally like HOP. Tp said when he was previewing the shows in certain cities that the first two episodes were set up episodes to establish the characters. I also remember the shows and reviews got better as the shows progressed. I say give it a chance.

i watched the first episode again last nite and i actually liked it better than when i saw it the first time. while watching it i thought of it as a play and that helped me to enjoy it more. i will be watching future episodes.

Back to the Isaiah incident. You know, if there’s ANYONE to feel bad for, it’s Shonda Rimes, the creator of the show. She’s got her work cut out for her with writing his character out of the show AND replacing him in a manor that is believable and doesn’t piss off the viewers. History has shown that whenever a show switches up the cast like this it usually KILLS the show.

I hope that does happen. I mean, I’ve only seen 3 episodes of the show, but even I have to admit that I took a bit of pride in the fact that a SISTAH was behind the biggest show on television. It’s inspiring. She deserves all the success from Grey’s Anatomy, and Isaiah Washington’s DUMBASS possibly ruined it for her.

Paris Hilton was just ordered back to jail in Lynwood to serve out the remainder of her sentence! She’ll get credit for at least 5 days already served.

Hilton left the courtroom in tears, screaming, “Mom, Mom, Mom.” Hilton was also heard saying “It’s not right.”

One witness described the scene as: Paris was “physically escorted” out of the courtroom by a female deputy.

Hilton’s mother was later seen pacing the hallways, telling reporters, “I’m paralyzed right now.” Paris’ father Rick is still in the courtroom.

A Sheriff inside the courtroom tells TMZ that officers are taking Hilton straight from the courtroom to Lynwood. No timetable has been set on her departure.

Today when Paris Hilton got sprung from jail 20 days early — from a sentence that was just half of what was originally imposed — the story turned out to be that Paris’ shrink went to the jailers and said she was about to have a nervous breakdown. So they let her go home early with an ankle bracelet. Sharpton immediately said there may have been racism involved here.

Look, when he’s right he’s right. No matter what you think of Rev. Al, it is hard to imagine that anywhere in America a black woman is getting out of jail today because her shrink says she’s about to have a nervous breakdown. He says it wouldn’t happen, and I agree.

It shouldn’t happen either. It shouldn’t happen with “little miss just anybody,” whether she’s African-American or white or Asian or Hispanic or anything. And it shouldn’t have happened with Paris Hilton.

Easy come, easy go for Paris Hilton.

A day after she was “reassigned” from jail to house arrest due to an undisclosed medical condition, the hotel heiress was sent back to the slammer by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer, the same judge who originally sentenced her to 45 days for violating her probation on an alcohol-related driving charge.

The judge ordered that Hilton return to Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California to serve out the reminder of her entire 45-day sentence, as opposed to the abbreviated 23-day sentence that had been agreed upon.

After hearing the verdict, a weeping Hilton was escorted from the courtroom by a female deputy, screaming, “It’s not right! Mom!”

The 26-year-old socialite had not intended to be present for the hearing, but upon learning that she was planning on phoning in her testimony rather than putting in a personal appearance, Sauer ordered the Sheriff’s Department to send a squad car to pick her up at her Hollywood Hills home and escort her to the courthouse.

An O.J. Simpson-in-the-white-Bronco-esque scene ensued, with swarms of news helicopters trailing the police convoy as it transported her to the hearing.

The Simple Life star’s reversal of fortune took place after the L.A. City Attorney’s office filed court documents Thursday afternoon, demanding that she be returned to the Century Regional Detention Facility to serve out the rest of her 23-day sentence.

City prosecutors also asked that the Sheriff’s Department be held in contempt of court for violating the judge’s original order by allowing the heiress to leave jail and be fitted with an electronic monitoring bracelet. The judge did not address the issue during Friday’s hearing.

Sheriff Lee Baca defended his decision to reassign Hilton to house arrest, stating it was based solely on her “medical issue.”

“It isn’t wise to keep a person in jail with her problem over an extended period of time and let the problem get worse,” Baca told the Los Angeles Times. “In my opinion, justice is being served by the decision to have her serve her time at home. She would still be in the county jail if it were not for the medical advice.”

Paris Hilton was just ordered back to jail in Lynwood to serve out the remainder of her sentence! She’ll get credit for at least 5 days already served.

Hilton left the courtroom in tears, screaming, “Mom, Mom, Mom.” Hilton was also heard saying “It’s not right.”

One witness described the scene as: Paris was “physically escorted” out of the courtroom by a female deputy.

Hilton’s mother was later seen pacing the hallways, telling reporters, “I’m paralyzed right now.” Paris’ father Rick is still in the courtroom.

A Sheriff inside the courtroom tells TMZ that officers are taking Hilton straight from the courtroom to Lynwood. No timetable has been set on her departure.

Easy come, easy go for Paris Hilton.

A day after she was “reassigned” from jail to house arrest due to an undisclosed medical condition, the hotel heiress was sent back to the slammer by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer, the same judge who originally sentenced her to 45 days for violating her probation on an alcohol-related driving charge.

The judge ordered that Hilton return to Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California to serve out the reminder of her entire 45-day sentence, as opposed to the abbreviated 23-day sentence that had been agreed upon.

After hearing the verdict, a weeping Hilton was escorted from the courtroom by a female deputy, screaming, “It’s not right! Mom!”

The 26-year-old socialite had not intended to be present for the hearing, but upon learning that she was planning on phoning in her testimony rather than putting in a personal appearance, Sauer ordered the Sheriff’s Department to send a squad car to pick her up at her Hollywood Hills home and escort her to the courthouse.

An O.J. Simpson-in-the-white-Bronco-esque scene ensued, with swarms of news helicopters trailing the police convoy as it transported her to the hearing.

The Simple Life star’s reversal of fortune took place after the L.A. City Attorney’s office filed court documents Thursday afternoon, demanding that she be returned to the Century Regional Detention Facility to serve out the rest of her 23-day sentence.

City prosecutors also asked that the Sheriff’s Department be held in contempt of court for violating the judge’s original order by allowing the heiress to leave jail and be fitted with an electronic monitoring bracelet. The judge did not address the issue during Friday’s hearing.

Sheriff Lee Baca defended his decision to reassign Hilton to house arrest, stating it was based solely on her “medical issue.”

“It isn’t wise to keep a person in jail with her problem over an extended period of time and let the problem get worse,” Baca told the Los Angeles Times. “In my opinion, justice is being served by the decision to have her serve her time at home. She would still be in the county jail if it were not for the medical advice.”

I been seen the show the House Of Payne a while back on the CW so I don’t know why they acting like it’s new. It was corny then and it’s still corny now. Trust me it’s not going to get any better. I’m sorry but that show is just weak and I been try to tell everyone I knew before they even watched it.

As a matter of fact I’m not sure but I know that the House of Payne had other characters and actors on it and I think it lasted maybe a couple of episodes then I guess they just stopped showing it. I guess they updated it. I’ll have to check it out. Because I know that original show that he just came out with like last year on the CW was weak.

The house of Payne was very very dry- exactly what I said after watching. The uncle seems to be the “main character” on the show but he is NOT FUNNY… at all. I was so disappointed, but I think I’ll give it another try because I support Tyler Perry all the way. Any black man trying to do his thing gets mad cool points from me.

Isaiah is talented but he’s a BIG FOOL. He needed to cool himself down and just deal with it. What in the world, could they have posibly done to piss him the hell off like that? Well, as a big Grey’s Anatomy fan…… I’ll still watch the show, lol!

There is complexity to these situations, and I think that the fact that everyone seems to simplify it to Isaiah Washington being an idiot is TOO SIMPLE. There is no acknowledgment of the racial component. I would expect for people to tend to be somewhat self-centered in their analysis of a situation. So since my personal situation, being a heterosexual black male - is closer to that of Isaiah Washington than that of Knight or Dempsey - I tend to see things more from Washington’s side of the fence. When I see certain shit happen because of race, I am sensitive because it means that it can happen to me too. So that is why I find it so hard to see other black men so ready to see a black man go down for a misstep that would not be so damning for a white person.

Like you said, he was not as popular as Dempsey or Knight. Why do you think that is? Do you think race could have anything to do with it? I’ve dated single moms before. It’s kind of hard not to, being in my late 20’s and dating Black women it comes up pretty frequently. But as I said in one of my earlier posts, I learned from dating to see red flags. Single moms are a red flag for me, so I don’t even bother to get to know them. It’s not worth it to me. If that offends you then I don’t know what to say, but that’s just what it is.

I don’t think I have conservative views at all. You’re just used to hearing a certain female slant on everything u hear (tv, talk shows, news etc). Anybody that speaks as a man with pride is labeled a sexist. I do believe in a strong family structure and men and women with integrity helping each other. I know there are plenty of loser men in this world, but the loser women get no blame no repercussions.

Isaiah was foolish if he expected that he would keep his job. They decided immediately to fire him, but to make it easier on themselves [and to increase the ratings for the remainder of the season] they chose let his character ride for a minute. Yea, they made him believe that the PSA and rehab was his redemption, but unless he asked them to renew his contract then — he should have expected to be “released”.

And worse than that, he is going to have a helluva time finding new work.

That’s a good look for Ne-Yo. Helping to raise a child, is admirable whatever the reason.

I also thought House of Payne was wack..especially since I already saw one of the episodes when it premiered LAST SUMMER on basic tv. They totally overhauled the show and not in a good way…..when the show first aired last year, the older couple was Allen Payne’s PARENTS….now they are his Aunt and Uncle??? WTF. The set is different and they’ve added this random dark skinned dude who is now the son? I’m confused. All in all the show was disappointing them and still is.

Shonda Rhimes - the creator and writer is a black woman herself. She’s managed to create a popular prime time television show where a considerable number of ethnicities are represented. Being a Latina of African and Spanish Ancestry, I enjoy seein the Spanish, Black, Asian characters on the show - beautiful, smart and successful people. Shonda’s show is workin… its popular, it makes me feel good when i got people on my back putting me down. hell i’ll admit to it, i look forward to it.

Boycotting the show is not helpful to the minority communities represented, to Shonda Rhimes and her OTHER SHOWS, or to the writers or the gay community. ***Taking a sister’s show down and tearin it to pieces for a prejudiced brother’s comments do no one any justice.

If its any consolation to the ladies, I heard Taye Diggs name being thrown in the mess of actors considered to be replacing Isaiah on a few entertainment sites I work for.

I know one of the police officers who does security detail at the VA hospital were they film and even after the rehab and PSAs, they tension between Isiah and the other cast members did not cease. It got to the point were most of them were ready to walk out on production if they had to continue to work with him. In the end it’s about business first and they can’t afford to lose their core (white) audience over another anger Black man. He was just out of line. That night he didn’t have to repeat the slur he alledgedly use. He delivered a low blow and he got knocked out in the end.

She also did a tell all interview saying that ne-yo was lying that she was just his best friend. She was his girlfriend. It really seems like he may have found out after the baby was born. Jesse: LOL… yea i read it, and it sounded like a PR script to me. cause thats not the way things happened, i guess it was a way to give him something to talk about for his new cd. not neccesarily about me.

LP: Do you Get Child Support from him?

Jesse:Im not going to talk about that.. next.

LP: How did you feel about the Sidekick Pictures of him and his dancer?

Jesse: I have to say I felt hurt and embarrased for my family, and my thought was omg how could i explain that to my son if he was older…. but like he said he’s grown, he can do what he wants. I’m sure he learned a lesson from it…

LP: Everyone wants to know….What is your take on the Gay Rumors?

Jesse: When i heard it I cracked up, like OMG here we go again….. i got at least80 phone calls and emails, NO I dont believe he’s gay…he does have a huge apetite for sex…but not with dudes (laughing)…his weakness: He LOVES women, especially women with BiG Butt’s… he’ll tell you that himself. But Gay NO..

LP: How do you feel about his new Girlfriend or Fling, people are saying he’s just tryna clean up her image because of the sidekick pictures, or that its all a set up to make you believe that he’s not gay…whats your take on that?

Jesse: Wow.. im not sure if thats his girlfriend or not… so im not at liberty to answer that…… I personally dont care… Tenile is a cool person, from what I know, . And I guess If Shaffer, i mean if Ne-Yo is happy then im happy…. As far as the cleaning her image comment… it may, or may not be true. who knows, who really cares… its not worth talking about.

LP: Did he cheat on you with her?

Jesse:I never asked him…

LP: Are you working with Ne-Yo on your project?

Jesse: No.. I wanted to do it on my own… Im makin my own way, with my own connects, I want people to work with me because Im talented and good at what I do, and not because we have a child together…. My gift will make room for me.. I got this..

LP: How do you feel about Ne-Yo as an artist and his accomplishments, and do you feel like you put your career on hold for him?

Jesse: I am very proud of him, i watched him work 24/7 with no sleep, to get to where he is, and he deserves it. Ne-Yo writes amazing classic songs, which is very rare, he definately taught me alot. Sometimes i let him hear what im workin on to get his opinion, cause i value it.

LP: What about your career?

Jesse: As far as putting my career on hold. Of course it was a small set back, and it was very hard.. but something far greater came out of that time. Chimere is my strength and my smile, so for that im grateful..

LP: Is Ne-Yo a good father?

Jesse: I can say he trully loves our son, he has’nt gotten a chance to really dive into fatherhood because of his schedule, but i definately see him making an effort to balance the two…

LP: Your song “what was you thinkin” is that about Ne-Yo?

Jesse: Maybe, maybe not… its about the pain of going thru someone taking advantage of your heart and the fact that you love them enough to always be there for them, then after they leave you with no valid reason, puts you thru hell, says a whole bunch of hurtful stuff, and shows up expecting you to take them back.. thinkin you would still be there..

LP:Are you two still Friends?

Jesse: Yes… we always find a way to make it work.. we irritate each other sometimes, but thats with any friend…

LP: Do you wish you guys were together?

Jesse: No…being single has its advantages…… i’m doin me… My Son and my Career are all I need right now, and thats what im focusing on

LP: Is it true that MTV is looking at you for a project?

Jesse: I cant talk about that right now…. but you never know whats gonna happen (smiling)…

LP: What about you modeling for Inkslingers

Jesse: wow you guys do your research… they’ve inquired about me doing a few things with their female division, but i dont wanna talk about that till its complete.

Jesse: LOL Omg.. yea it was a favor for bow wow it was his birthday, it was alot of fun…… Well God is definately blessing me. I’ve been doing shows, in the studio with Mario Winans, i’ve been writting songs for Mya, Cheetah girls, lindsay Lohan, Nicole from the pussycat dolls,just tryna keep it going, im working on my own project as well.. im about to do a few magazines.. work with a few clothing lines.. definately keeping busy..

People were calling for Imus’ head when he made those comments about the Rutgers team. He was fired real quick after those comments were made. Why shouldn’t Isiah be fired for calling someone a faggot? It’s just as offensive as “nappy headed hoe,” don’t you think? He deserved to be fired. Or because he’s a black man he has free reign to say offensive things about anyone and if he gets called on it then it’s time to play the race card? There should be no double standard.

As for Ne-Yo, he should be commended. Not many men want to take responsibility for their own children. He’s taking vowing to ensure the welfare of a child that is not biologically his. He’s just unofficially adopting this child. I hope that he means this and continue to see this throughout the child’s life.

What can I say? I remember last year HOUSE OF PAYNE aired ten episodes in only ten markets. And when the first shows aired I got a lot of messages on the message board saying what they liked and didn’t like. I remember sending an email asking those who didn’t like the show to be patient with it and just watch. Well by the last of the ten episodes a lot of you who had reservations about the show were in love with it. You may remember that

The same is true here. It’s very hard to do a sitcom because you have to set up the characters and get people involved in them and that takes time. It’s hard to explain and develop characters especially when you only have 22 minutes in an episode. It’s much easier in plays and in movies where I have hours. So, with all of that said I want to assure you that you have not seen the best of HOUSE OF PAYNE.

I don’t even care about the Isaiah thing anymore. I stopped watching the show like 4 months ago. It hasn’t been good for a while. It’s just resting on laurels from the first season. Whatever. If TR Knight called him a n—–, I’m sure black people and allies would want TR fired just like gay people and gay allies want Isaiah fired. Rules for hate speech apply to everyone.

Wow. I’m very impressed by Ne-yo. Few young men would be doing that and it’s good that the kid has a male figure around.
