FORMER OLYMPIC STAR MARION JONES ONLY HAS 2,000 BUCKS TO HER NAME; SOLD HER MAMA’S HOUSE
Seven years after winning a women’s record five Olympic track and field medals and snagging multimillion-dollar endorsement deals, Marion Jones is broke.
The sprinter is heavily in debt, fighting off court judgments and down to a bank balance of about $2,000, according to recent court records reviewed by the Los Angeles Times.
Last year a bank foreclosed on her $2.5-million mansion in an area of Chapel Hill, N.C., where Michael Jordan was a neighbor. She was also forced to sell two other properties, including her mother’s house, to raise money. [ READ MORE ]

40/40 CLUB GETTING SUED
Looks like Michael Jackson, R.Kelly, and whole bunch of other musicians are suing Jay-Z’s 40/40 club.
Megastars Michael Jackson, R. Kelly and more than a dozen music publishers have banded together against Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club – rapping the Chelsea hotspot with a federal lawsuit for allegedly skimping on royalties.
The popular 40/40 Club, co-owned by Jay-Z and two business partners, has danced around licensing rules to entertain clubgoers with “unauthorized public performance of musical compositions,” according to a lawsuit filed yesterday Manhattan federal court.
Word is, Jay-Z has not been named in the suit. Good try R.Kelly. I know you still want that payback from the Best of Both Worlds tour.

Marion was probably one of the best paid track stars ever. And she had more endorsements than most. But, once she got caught in in doping charges she couldn’t run and she missed those $70 – $80K a race. She lost endorsements, and was paying big lawyers fees.
Her baby’s father’s, Tim Montgomery couldn’t help ’cause he [a gold medalist too] was banned for doping and he just went to federal prison for a bogus check cashing ring – her coach is on trial probably going too. I hope she’s not caught up in that. I’m sure she was spending a grip trying to defend Tim, so when you have a lot of $$$ going out and nothing coming in…. you go broke.
Ain’t no magic to it – She’s gonna have to downgrade and get a job.
Just goes to show how you can be on top of the world, and if you’re not careful the weight of the world can be on top of you.
On the 40/40 club thing — how is that any different from any club or business establishment paying royalities to the artists for playing their music?
