Like I said in the music review post, I think it is kinda boring and that it is missing something. I love looking at her cause she is really pretty, and her clothing was really colorful/edgy…but writhing around and making sexy poses just doesnt cut it. SHE should have been the one racing one of the guys, or she should have had more interaction with the men.

It would have been great if they really rocked this video out and focused on the racing more, but its still a cute video.

Umm the video was bland. I expected more from the video. Wasn’t it reported tat they spent like $600,000 on her next two videos. They are the reason she has put out three successful cds in 3 years with each one selling more than the last. Yes, she has tunred from what we expected of her, but when most artists do that, that is whey they succeed beyond what is expected. I’ve never been a Rihanna fan, but this album is a mixture of summa’ everything & is a great album to clean your house to. LOL! I’m really digging the song and the video…I think it’s a strong marketing move for her because she has a lot of different audiences and she has to appeal to all of them…I don’t know why people are complaining about her being an R&B singer when she was never considered one in the first place….she has always been a pop singer and she specifically said this album is filled with a bit of everything….we got umbrella, now this is her rock track, and maybe next she’ll do the reggae track on the album….some people need to look up marketing strategies…maybe you would understand why so many R&B singers are not as successful…and the ones that are have crossover tracks on their albums.

I have her album and I really like it, but there are a couple of songs I just can’t get with it and this is definitely one of them. I’m not a rock chick so this song is just not for me and I think this was a bad choice after “Umbrella”. Even if you like rock, this song doesn’t compare to “Umbrella” at all. I love “Breakin’ Dishes”! I wish she would have went with that song. Oh, well, either way, Rihanna is doing her thing! More power to her.

I think that the video could have had more to it. I expected much more but what can you say when the girl is appearing on every channel, radio station, and summer tour in and out the country. I think the “influence” of rock symbolism on today’s rap really started in about 2003 when the industry started to make the artists wear tighter clothes and skull and crossbones belt buckles. The hood bit hook, line, and sinker, so they moved on to the skull or skull and crossbones shirts, pants, sneakers, etc. Now they’re trying to bring it home with the new/strange, forced rock/hip-hop collaborations.

Back in the early-mid 90’s rap cats were comin’ so hard that you couldn’t have a collaboration with rock even if you wanted one. Notice how all the rappers are slowly going from throwing up fake gang signs in the pictures to the rocker Satan horns. That’s why Jay-Z signed off on the video. He really doesn’t have a choice, he’s taken an oath and he’s down with them.

Seems like it faded from the culture over time in favor of other music, accept for people like Prince and Lenny Kravitz and a handful of other people who still liked Rock music no matter who was playing it.

In the 80’s a lot of Black people did still listen to Rock, Punk, and all that stuff and break dancers were dressing kind of Punk Rock and wearing skulls too. So it’s not strange for black people to be Rockers or dress Glam. It’s just hard to believe some of these pop acts are really into rock and not playing a role.

Real Music and Talent should be commended and brought back. I’m actually feeling this song. She took a risk by doing something different and I think that was cool of her. So many artists today want to look and sound the same, that it’s actually refreshing to see her wanting to “stand out” from the rest. Big deal if she did a song that’s on the Pop/Rock side? Nobody had a problem when Michael Jackson recorded “Beat It” back in the day. And, we all know that wasn’t an R&B song. It had a guitar solo by Eddie Van Halen and everything, and no one said “boo” about it. So, why should it be any different for Rihanna or anyone else?
