On the BET Awards post-show, Ashanti said that she’d pretty much done everything herself on her latest project, which is due out in the fall. She also mentioned that they were in works of choosing a first single… so my assumption that with this leaking, “Switch” is not it. Even though I’m not really fan of Ashanti (or her voice), this is a fun song. However, not single worthy, it just seems like she went into the studio to have a good time with her man, Nelly. Although she’s still with The Inc. Records, I think that Ashanti is trying to mature a little bit and work with some other people on this next project, which I hear is titled This Is Me. Let’s hope that she can put together something that’s a little more stellar than her last effort, Concrete Rose.
Oh and one more thing concerning possible “Competition” Keyshia Cole song iz alright I like da feel of it but its like we heard it before and its not original becuz its not and the only reason its cool to me iz because its familar. Alicia Keys aint gon be on nothin her shit finna sound like some straight John Leagned second album type shit, She workin wit (No Offence) White People and shit which iz different but I dont kno how her fans would take to it. So please stop hatin now Ima tell yall da Truth I use to hate on Bey I aint gon lie but I said why am I hatin on her she been doin her thang so let me stop and I did so yall can just do da same and get off Ashanti’s Jock. How ya’ll figure hitting #13 and/or #10 on the Billboard charts certifies a hit when you got singles spending 13 WEEKS at Number 1?! Besides, it hit #13 and then steadily dropped! It’s like you’re lowering the standards for her or something. That was cool in 2002 before Beyonce hit the scene, but in 2007 you got singles going MULTI-platinum. “Check on it” went 4x platinum, man. Going Gold does not certify a hit record or single anymore. It’s just not good enough. Okay, Concrete Rose went once Platinum. That’s good? That was her 3rd album!
As for her dancing, ya’ll need to quit it!! We all know Ashanti is not a dancer. Ya’ll just not keeping it really real in here. I don’t care if she’s danced since she was 3. If you don’t have the talent, you don’t have it. When Ashanti dances, she counts. If you’re a dancer, like I am, you can tell these things. You can only give her one movement per count. With that being said, her true fans aren’t fans because of her dancing ability. They’re fans because of her writing and her sound. “She’s been dancing since Happy.” And? That dance was so elementary! The dancing in “Only you” was unique? Okay. Maybe unique to her because she’d done nothing like it, but Bee had been there and done that.
For the record: I like the single!!! And I hope it does really well. It’s different, her voice has grown tremendously….she confident on it…she has swagger. If they nail the video, keep the dancing to a minimum unless she’s stepped it up, this could be her comeback.

i liked concrete rose, it was actually my favorite cd of hers but i hope this cd will be better than the others. switch is a cute song but hopefully she has something stronger to put out. good luck!
