No one should be ashamed of their body. You have to live with what the good Lord gave you. We can’t be mean towards these women. We can’t close our eyes and wish them thin. They are what they are and that’s God’s children. Lets not forget that people. There is too much discrimination against people who are big, add female to that and its worse. Any one of us could become overweight, even you size 2 women out there.

You could be in an accident tomorrow and be bedridden for a long time and your body completely change due to the lack of movement. You could be an amputee and end up in a wheelchair and gain weight from that. Or you could be eating to cover up your pain and gain weight which is the case for a lot of self hating women.

The weight is a side effect of so many other things. we really can’t judge these women because their story is their own.

I don’t think the pic is that bad after the initial shock. Mo actually doesn’t look that bad either.

I see most of the comments are pretty harsh and although I am in total agreement that health should be a #1 priority, it irks me when people just immediatley berate and belittle overweight people. Truth be told most of ya’ll are probably “one biscuit away”! lol I don’t think Mo is encouraging people to be overweight, but I see of it more as empowering them. You first have to be “okay” with where you are before you can get to that point of change. You have to think that you are worth something, have that self-love…once you have that you will truly WANT to take care of yourself and “get right”.
I think “big girls” are like the only group that it’s still okay to demean. I think it’s great what the ladies did, but that’s only IF they really wanted to do it.

I’m all about being comfortable with yourself until you get where you want to be. Prime example, I went to Hedonism with my girlfriends. My size 18 self was the first one to get naked, while my smaller girlfriends watched in amazement that I was so comfortable with my body. Even the guys were giving me props. Bottom line, it’s about loving yourself and doing the best that you can to take care of your body.

Unhealthy comes in all sizes, I think that is what people fail to realize. For all of you that are not overweight…do you smoke? drink? eat right? exercise? You may not be “big”, but you could easily be at risks for some of the same diseases. I have a girlfriend that is tiny…BUT she has eaten Burger King daily for about the last 10 years and all she drinks is soda. Wouldn’t you know, now she has high cholesterol.

Its obviously an attempt to look sophisticated and of course to be considered as “art” but it comes off really sloppy, [hate to use this word but] ghetto, and laughable. I agree with post #101, skinny doesn’t necessarily mean healthy. I have some skinny friends that eat fast food almost everyday. Some are just lucky that what they eat doesn’t show on their body, ppl have different metabolisms. But the insides of those ppl must be fucked up though.

But nobody pays attention to that, often ppl think that when you’re thin, you have a pass to eat whatever you want and then feel the right to tell a fat person to stop eating. Like one of the posts mentioned, some ppl are 1 hamburger away before they start gaining weight and become fat.

I’m 140 5′5 1/2, which is a good weight for my height, but I too have high cholesterol.

Umm Im not a small woman myself but this is just disgusting it looks like they made a run for the buffet table and trip over several buckets of paint….

Im no health expert but obesity is destroying our race and this pic is promoting obesity. These women need to lose weight period no exceptions.

About 35% of adults over age 20 are overweight and for children under 11 it’s about 20% with the numbers increasing. I mean how many people cook at home anymore? Everything is fast food with trans fat, etc.
So, like it or not, America as a whole is getting fatter and eventually a person within a “normal” weight range will be in the minority. So the debate over obesity is a larger issue than the ladies in this picture and I feel like people just took this opportunity to pick on them and dog them for “not having self control” when I’m sure nobody on this board knows them personally to even make that statement.

The issue at hand was the tastefulness of the pic. Only a few ladies actually pulled off the “look” they were going for, but if they were comfortable with doing the pic, then cool. Who am I to judge?
Look back at old European paintings and you will see the women depicted (nude by the way) were not stick thin. They would be considered “cows” by today’s standards I’m sure. It’ just interesting how perceptions evolve over the years.
That’s my last 2 cents on that issue…

Some of the comments thus far have really crossed the line of constructive criticism, and are in the territory of vitriol and hate. Someone referred to them as monsters, somebody else as whales, and there was a host of other hateful terms used to describe them. You don’t have to criticize these women by calling them names. Its very unnecessary and judgmental, since no can claim to be a bastion of physical perfection. The thing with weight loss is this. I would like to say that this was a good idea. I am grateful that you are trying to boost the BIG girls self esteem up. But I have a problem with your last year episode.
