Nicole Scherzinger feat. T.I. – Whatever You Like
Nicole makes her first splash onto the solo scene with her first single, “Whatever You Like,” featuring T.I. I’m a little surprised that this was the same production from the Chilli song that I posted a couple months ago. Although, something about Nicole’s version just makes me go crazy. I first heard this song in a club, and I think that’s what cranked me up. I think that this will really go off on the radio, I think. Especially with production from the infamous Polow Da Don and lyrics pinned by Sean Garrett. Lately, they’ve been doing everything for everyone. I’m excited for Nicole’s debut, Her Name Is Nicole, which is due out September. Nicole has productions from Will.I.Am, Pharrell Williams and Timbaland. She’s pulled everyone for this record.

I like Nicole’s music and I say it proudly. This all started when I told you to SIT DOWN!! and you gets madd over two words?

I didn’t like the first time I heard it the whole “I do whateva you like” thing was annoying, but I knew I’d grow into it (The same went with Rihanna’s “umbrella” and Beyonce’s “freakum dress” i hated those to start!)
In any case, I heard Chilli’s version, and I like both. Hers was less singing, however, and I prefer Nicole’s in that arena. Yes her vocals are airy, yes they are breathy etc, but I know that’s on purpose, you know? That sexy, light, head voice sound, is obviously intentional. So peeps can like it or lump it! Don’t tell her to do “better” with stronger vocals on this song. The beat was strong, if she was more powerful, she would be competing with the beat. We KNOW she can belt and all that jazz, but that was not what this song called for.
All in all, you gotta take the song by itself, and what it’s clear purpose is (to be a club banger/ shake your ass song), then we might all be happy!
