@ 4 i think they are releasing videos and singles so fast b/c they are trying to get another hit single that will be as big of a pop single as umbrella but I really doubt it will happen. As much as I hate umbrella i think it was the standout song on the album. Plus her album hasn’t even hit gold yet so if they get another hit single the single can help push the album to gold.

well rihana is an artist that is smart because as she stated she had more control over this album than any of her previous albums so in turn instead of catering to the black audience she catered to the white audience by going pop on this album…….she knows what is going to aid her in the long run POP which is predominatly filled with white audiences rather than R&B……so with that being said dont really like her album i mean its clear to see the audience she’s trying to attract but i definitely think it was a genius move to cater to the white folks thats going to buy your stuff……

Whether you fans wanna admit it or not, Rihanna is too over exposed and has too much of this image change and style. She’s only 19 and has changed her style tremendously like she’s a 25 year old. I don’t know why her fans really think she will last. Looks will only get you so far and when you are hot at the moment, already invented your only style and music, people forget about you a year or two after. I think her outfits on the cover look very cheap and she looks like what she is in the music industry, a manufactured barbie. I don’t care if she’s different or has style, this really proves how the industry got you naive folks twisted. They hide non-talent by looks, style, and hot beats.

With her album sales, I was surprised to find out how low their top sales are. 100,000 and less is considered to be #1 in many countries. From what I’ve seen her sales are very low for all this promo she’s getting.

Haven’t heard the song, didn’t really care to watch the video. I honestly think she is so overrated cuz she doesn’t have any true talent except taking great photos ( I have to admit that). It’s amazing to me how this shifted again from Rihanna to Beyonce vs. Rihanna. I think Rihanna’s pics are HOT, and for the record, Rihanna is close to making history in the UK for remaining in the number one slot for a long period of time.

I like Rihanna BUT she aint gonna replace Ciara or Beyonce like some people think. Rihanna relies to much on style and image for her to have loyal fans. Both Ciara and Beyonce are “manufactured” in some ways, but they both can produce great performances. I have yet to be impressed with one of Rihanna’s performances. They can make you look slim and make make you look bigger, they can remove a blemish or a mole to make it look like you have flawless skin and they can certainly change a person’s skintone. Cover photos gets the most work of all because they need to sell the magazine. They need to make a so-called “first impression.”

That’s what a critic does, they talk about an artist and give their opinion and my opinion is she’s a mediocre act. Other people share this opinion. I don’t have to like her music or support her in any way just because we are both people of color. Rihanna is out there begging for us to pay attention to her and doing everything she can to get our hard earned money, and when someone wants my hard earned money, I look them over and wonder why I should give it to them. This is at the heart of being a critic. She is a cheesy pop act who has been manufactured like all pop acts, and I ain’t fallen for it. I am not much of a fan of pop music and I do not have to like her. I don’t have to buy into all these different images either. If she wants to be the “Black Madonna” she’d going about it all wrong. Madonna changed styles every two years, not every two weeks. I don’t buy these outfits as being a reflection of who she really is any more than any of the other outfits she’s worn lately, but they are nice pictures from an artistic point of veiw.
