#4 Andre 3000 As a occasional listener to Outkast I can’t say this placement is accurate or not..I know the boy can spit but I just don’t really listen to him enough..so I’m not going too speak on something I don’t know much about….NEXT!

I have watched and listened to the arguements that all of them made for one MC to another. BUT PPL LISTEN CLOSE, This is a list for the Hottest MCs RIGHT NOW! from 2006-2007! Hot NOT TWO YEARS AGO, Not greatest of all time but who has the game on lock in terms of widespread audience appeal for songs, their bussiness savvy escapades, style

Now Me Personally, I love artists Like, Common, Little Brother, Slum Village, Mos Def, Talib, and I can Name plenty More. But don’t tell me you can agree with at LEAST HALF of the names on the MTV list. We all know that as fans of a genre we tend to think with our hearts over our minds. That’s the beauty of this artform.

Im sure that if Andre Three Stacks released a solo project this year he would easily be in the top 3. That’s the kind of MC he is. 3000 paints pictures like B.I.G. did but he does it in his own unique way. So many songs are spewed out today just to get radio play and to spin in the club, Then the album comes out for some of these artists and only two songs are worth hearing. 3000’s verse alone on “International Player’s Anthem” single handely crushes many of the albums that came out this year alone! There fore he deserves his spot.

Im not a Jezzy fan, but I believe hip hop should have a balance of styles and his ad-lib niche works. even what I call “Crack Rap”( Known for its subject matter, plus even in some cases giving you an escape euphoric sensation into that life and getting high off it leaving you wanting more.. like a crack addict) has its place.

Weezy F. Baby is no doubt the reigning hot mc right now, from his double mixtape The Drought this year itself, He still holds the hot throne. Even though I call him the “Barry Bonds” of Hip Hop From “500 Degreez” to “DJ Drama Dedication pt. 1″ You see this massive step up in skills. Wayne didn’t just step up his rap game, he cleared THREE FLIGHTS. With guest appearances on everyone’s album except MJ’s alleged comeback album( Sorry Wacko Jacko) at 24 years young, yet a seasoned Vet, Weezy can do no wrong.

The list people as you can see is not based off lyrical prowess. If it was, many of the cats would be gone. But hip hop today is more about lyrical skills, can you put out tight songs to go with your (M.)oving the (C.) rowd verses. If it was all about rhymes then Canibus would be the guy taking trips to St. Tropez at Diddy’s expsense.
The hot list right now I’m sure was not easy at all to come by. There was alot of debate and arguement to make this happen and what you need to realize this list is a FINAL COPY of a slew of rough drafts. As for honorable mention’s sake, Lupe might get it going his next album as well as Nas and others. The ONLY person I DO NOT agree with for being on the List is Game.

In response to the hottest MC’s list, I really don’t feel like Lil Wayne should have been first. I think T.I. deserves to be first just because… I don’t know, he’s T.I. T.I. delivers albums on a consistent basis. Lil Wayne mostly does mixtapes with borrowed beats. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big Weezy fan… but to place him before T.I. just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me… but then again I don’t know, I do believe that Wayne is better than T.I. lyrically. I’m sort of upset that Jeezy came in sixth. He definitely should have been before Game, who again has pretty good lyrical content I suppose. I just don’t think he’s fuckin with Jeezy too much. Andre too, should have been before Game. Game to me should have been ninth or tenth. I feel like the placement for Jay-Z is appropriate. Actually, everything behind Jeezy was appropriate. I notice that the southern rappers got the top spots outside of Game; that was a delight. maybe they put all their names in a hat and just picked them out and thats the order we got.

1. LIL WAYNE: i must say, definitely to this. simply because he is such a freestyling genius. if you hear some of the freestyles hes done, sometimes he does more justice to a beat than the original person did (see “Sky’s the Limit” which jacks the “Mr. Jones” beat)
2. T.I.: maybe back in the “urban legend” and “king” days, but “t.i. vs t.i.p.” is pretty whack (big things poppin was hot for a relatively short time compared to his other singles before) and the publicity stunt surrounded his two personalities may have stopped people from feeling him as much as they used to.
3. the game: HUH? his last cd was pretty hot, but he hasnt come out with anything like the material he had when he was with 50, so im confused as to why hes in the top ten at all, much less third place.
4. andre 3000: granted hes a fashion icon and the male missy elliott in terms of innovation (plus i loved him as “black roddy piper” in int’l player’s anthem with UGK) but he always seemed like less of a rapper than big boi and more of a ghetto vocalist. i dont know. i dont think hes good enough as an MC to be on this list, but he definitely influenced hip-hop and put ATL on the map. so, if hes going to be on this list, cool, but he should be on it as OUTKAST. not as a soloist.
5. kanye west: why is he only number five? he steady puts out bangers that are way more imaginative and vulnerable than anyone else ive ever seen? granted, his late registration was less jampacked with singles than college dropout, but damn, he is a genius: writer, producer and killer lyricist. hes a genius with words. he should be number two (only because he doesnt freestyle. weezy got that ish on lock.)
6. JEEZY: JEEZY?! what?! okay, “go getta” was hot. for a while. the remix was awful. but… JEEZY?! number six? are you serious? you must be out your damn minds, MTV. just because he tops TRL with his white-friendly hood hop, doesnt mean hes an actual MC. hes just a chart topper. is it just me or does jeezy seem to rap the same way on every track… im not talking same style, but like same rhythm and tempo and everything. no matter what kind of track… i just dont feel jeezy. at all. even though “go crazy” was my jam for the longest time. teh remix with jigga and fat joe was out of control.
7. jay-z: hm. i think he should be on a higher spot, but boo to him for being such a swagger jacker. he wasnt a drug dealer at all and thankfulyl he stopped talking about it as much as he used to, but damn. he lied his ass all the way to the top. but he has mad flow, i cant lie, although he should have waited until he actually had some hot ish to share before coming out with that “kingdom come” foolishness. download “swagger jacker” off whatveer you illegally odwnload music… it was put out by the dipset crew, im assuming, since cam’ron is narrating the mug and cracking on jays ass the whole way. its basically a long-ass thing about how jay-z steals lines from songs… with examples. oh, youll look at jay different afterwards for sure.
8. 50 CENT: oh, he was hot with his first and second albums. (i think the massacre was good, but a lot of people talked ish about it. it had a lot of singles that he didnt put out because he was so busy promoting g-unit, which is pretty much now defunct except for buck… but athts what you get when youre a businessman and an artist) but curtis isnt lookin good. lol in both senses. ayo technology is okay, but only because justin pwn3d 50 and played his ass ON HIS OWN SONG. amusement park was hot for a second, but i guess people are sick of hearing the whole “magic stick” and “candy shop” spiel from fiddy. its gotten old, boo. “straight to the bank” had a good video, but wasnt a hot joint, at least for radio and clubs and “i get money” is just a shitty song. 50 needs to get his ass into the studio and make an actually decent CD. hes being a bitch ass because interscope doesnt wanna pay him to do his job, so hes gonna come out with bad material that makes HIM look like he fell off. real smart. make yourself worthless to the people youre trying to jack money from. word to the wise, curtis: to rich white people, youre only as valuable as your last hit. and shit devalues with time… FIFTY.
9. Common: why is he behind jeezy? common has been coming out with smart, well-written and thought-provoking pieces for years. i still bump “i still love h.e.r.” and “testify” was my favorite song off GO, which i admittedly did not buy. i guess i wasnt at that place yet. but, i guess since common doesnt sell out and roll over for white people who want all rappers to fit into a stereotypical degrading box (or jail cell), he hasnt hit MTVs radar high enough to warrant at least a top five spot.
10. jim jones: is you serious? cut this ish out, mtv! that is why we needed a BET in the first place. cause white people dont know nothing about rap except video countdowns and ringtone sales! jim jones had exactly ONE hit. “we fly high”. the remix was good too, but jim jones was lost in the shuffle of better rappers and performers. i admit, i bought the ringtone, too, but DAMN. since when does ONE single get you a place amongst REAL talent. people who have gone multiplatinum? i mean, “emotionless” was okay, but it certainly wasnt that hot. undeniabely, jim jones leads dipset (at least until juelz comes out with another album, since i think juelz is wayyyy better than jim jones lyrically) but that isnt saying much since the former leader was a crackhead. did product of my environment (for the majority of the people who have no idea WHAT jim jones’ album title was) go platinum? hell, did it go gold? copper?
