Fans are fickle and this is just another way for fans to express their pleasure or disdain about them. As I am sure you know, there are hundreds of web sites and several Web sites dedicated to other celebrities (mostly white) in which white people talk bad about them, too. It is not about tearing down a race or about building one up. It’s purely entertainment and the same as there is a BET or MTV3 (Hispanic/Latino music and news) there will be sites and programs dedicated to certain audiences. CL has been around for a minute, allowing people to read and respond about black celebrities because this is what is of interest to us. I think it’s a bit over the top to say that because we comment one way or the other about the latest celebrity news that is of interest to us means that racism isn’t alive and well. When black celebs are highlighted on E or Entertainment tonight and the negative is discussed, I don’t think anyone thinks it’s racism, it’s just entertainment news and info. Just as it is here.
Also keep in mind that there are now the same if not more white single mothers than there are black. The media’s portrayal to the contrary is the racism.
