So, a couple of days ago, I posted a new J. Lo snippet for her new single, “Wrong When You’re Gone.” And I remember, “Hey! My girl Keri wrote and recorded this song!” I’ll admit, automatically, I was a little bias – because I am absolutely in love with Keri’s voice and I think she’s a great writer. And usually, my thought process is that the first person that did it, usually does it better. The thing is, we know that there are few people that J. Lo fools with in the industry on a vocal level – so, to me, it’s not contest. But I’d like to know what the readers think. Who sang it better? Keri Hilson or Jennifer Lopez? I think I know who’s gonna get this one…

Although this isn’t the same song, it’s the same production. So I guess the question is, not who sang it better, but who rides the track better? Something about Chilli’s version just doesn’t do it for me – I think because I heard them in two different settings, because I really think that when I heard “Whatever You Like” in the club, it just gave off a certain kind of energy. I also kind of like what T.I. brings to the song more than what Missy does (and I love Missy’s crazy self). Anyway, which version for you prefer? Who rode the track better?

Keri sounds way better than j-lo on the track, but I liked both. Even though Keri sounded beautiful, I still thought that J-lo’s version was good too. The background stuff really helped j-lo out, but it’s obvious that Keri is pure talent. When I listened to Keri’s version i was like “oh okay, thats a sweet song”, but when I listened to J-lo’s, I was like ” I really like this song”. They both brought something different to it. I guess cause J-lo has the latina feel to it. I dont know. I guess I think that keri should get the song cause she came with it first. Ummm I really hope Chilli wont be bringing some wach sh*t to the industry cause I like her. Nicole and T.I. got that one.

That child is the most talented R&B female in the game right now…right next to Teedra Moses and Amerie I love and respect her for not being an industry puppet and not allowing the record company to control her. She writes her own songs (and they are actually nicely written songs—unlike Ashanti! try again boo boo), she has a great voice, and her attitude seems very down to earth and real. She will be replacing Beyonce from the top spot soon.

1. She can sing… and doesnt try to fill up her vocals with slutty breathing sounds.
2. she doesnt need T-Pain auto-tune FX to clean up her shitty vocals.

I prefer Keri ‘s voice .I dont think that Jennifer Lopez has a strong vocal abilities anyway! Her voice is more wispy,and it always sounds liek she has loads of studio equipment over shadowing her voice in an attempt to make her sound decent on a song. Keris voice is more sweet and natural.
Second song I like Nicoles version better.I think the songs displays her vocals more than it does Chili’s .On Chili’s version you have Missy screaming all over the track and even the music upstages her more than it helps her.Track is hot but she should have selected a song that complimented her voice more!

Anyway, Keri gets this one. She did the right thing giving it away. She wrote it so she gets publishing and royalties off album sales.
J.Lo still. Like someone else said, Jennifer have a sweeter tone to her voice even if she isn’t the best singer out there. Keri can sing, but she sounds like every other r&b singer trying to make it and again, her version lacks some sort of…oomph.
As for Chilli v Nicole, I do feel the beat was utilized better than whomever wrote Chilli’s song.Who is the producer b/c the beat sounds similar to Kelis’ “Blindfold Me”.

Keri sounded so nice on that song. She’s a really good writer. She has a naturally soft and beautiful singing voice.
JHo can’t sing for shit. The only reason why her voice doesn’t sound that bad at times is because she can carry a tune and has a soft spanish accent. So her trying to sing softly on this song is disguising her voice a bit. But I ain’t fooled.
Chilli VS Nicole. Chilli has such a beautiful singing voice as well. I love her tone, it’s different and very R&B. Nicole sounds a mess on the song. She sounds like she’s trying to sound like all the background “vocalists” on rappers songs during the chorus. Her voice on this annoys the hell outta me. I loved Missy’s flow on Chilli’s track, so I’ll go with Chilli. Nicole’s lyrics are the average slutty lyrics catering to men.
