So, a couple of days ago, I posted a new J. Lo snippet for her new single, “Wrong When You’re Gone.” And I remember, “Hey! My girl Keri wrote and recorded this song!” I’ll admit, automatically, I was a little bias – because I am absolutely in love with Keri’s voice and I think she’s a great writer. And usually, my thought process is that the first person that did it, usually does it better. The thing is, we know that there are few people that J. Lo fools with in the industry on a vocal level – so, to me, it’s not contest. But I’d like to know what the readers think. Who sang it better? Keri Hilson or Jennifer Lopez? I think I know who’s gonna get this one…

Although this isn’t the same song, it’s the same production. So I guess the question is, not who sang it better, but who rides the track better? Something about Chilli’s version just doesn’t do it for me – I think because I heard them in two different settings, because I really think that when I heard “Whatever You Like” in the club, it just gave off a certain kind of energy. I also kind of like what T.I. brings to the song more than what Missy does (and I love Missy’s crazy self). Anyway, which version for you prefer? Who rode the track better?

I’ve been on this Keri track for a while, so to even read this post is making me upset! I haven’t even listened to the J.Lo track yet cuz I am truly upset!! J.lo sounds like she singing the song in some karaoke bar. the beats they use sound the same for the most part but j.lo’s version on the beat is missing the bass and the soul. Keri Wins it hands down. When you take someone elses song and sing it you gotta make the song your own and add your own touch to it. J.lo just couldnt do it

J.Lo still. Like someone else said, Jennifer have a sweeter tone to her voice even if she isn’t the best singer out there. Keri can sing, but she sounds like every other r&b singer trying to make it and again, her version lacks some sort of…oomph.

Umm I am mad that the songs were even compared! How many times have we heard J-lo and those vocals that still sound terrible with all that extra special studio effects? Anyway Keri’s vocals are on J-lo’s background so why were the two being compared again? It’s pretty obvious.

wadup people? I beleive Keris track wasnt ‘hers’ to begin with. Its a demo, case in point? Keris background vocals on the JLo track for one. For two, JLo sings the song (inflections, riffs, ‘improvs’) in the EXACT matter or rather in an EXACT IMITATION of Keris track. Keri prolly did the song to demonstrate how it should sound, ya know, be exectued for JLo or whichever artists would buy the track. So saying she’s stupid for letting JLo STEAL the track?…nah. She’s brilliant. What she did was make record companies go….who is this girl (who sounds better than JLo)? why isnt SHE recording? Smart move, Ms. Keri. Smart move indeed.

OH come on people, JLo aint that bad!! She def got more than a couple of decent songs.. I know she aint got tht much of a voice, but what she has got, she uses well and her voice doesnt sound that bad.. Keri killed the song, miles better than JLo, but still JLo holds her own on the beat, and im actually lookin forward to hearing the rest! Rebirth was a under rated album (i aint no Jlo fan) but there was sum big tunes on there even tho, some of the material was robbed.. (ushers Ride, and Brandy’s Ryde and Die)
