I think most people perspective on ’singing’ is a little upside down anyways. If your not SHOUTING and doing a thousand and one runs on a song then everyone’s like oh they can’t sing. Or if your voice is not over the top and loud and obnoxious then it’s like oh they can’t sing. There is a huge difference between strainging your voice and actually singing.

Sade didn’t scream and shout and she had a deep voice. I think she can sing. The records she made are timeless and her sound was one of a kind.

These women stand out because their sound was absolutely their own, and back in the day, vocal abilities actually sold records.

We know NOW that a performer has to be a “total package” to succeed - they have to cute enough (for the videos), and they have to know how to entertain (i.e. dance, dress provocatively, etc). And if they have a banging track and really tight production, who cares whether they can sing?

The buying consumer has changed the music industry. For better or worse is anyone’s guess - depends on your perspective.

Bottom Line, like someone else stated earlier, Ciara has been out since 2004-2005 and she has already taken the music industry by storm. This is just the beginning of her career and by the looks of it, she’s locked in a pretty sturdy seat. She’s an all round entertainer. Where she is weak in one area she is stronger in the next. Most powerhouse singers like Mariah Whitney, Jennifer Hudson, Chaka, Aretha and so on can’t dance. Ciara has a good voice descent enough to make you wanna listen ( personally I like her voice and I think she can sing.) A loud strong voice, is not the only definition of good singing. and like someone stated earlier, Ciara is the only one selling records close to Beyonce numbers and look how llong Beyonce has been out. So I cant imagine what Ciara is going to be like in the next 5 years with more practice and experience. The girl is Bad!!! I have seen her in the flesh and quite frankly I thought she was excellent. It really isn’t hard to tell. PR is what makes us pay attention and buy cd’s, is it a coincidence that the rumors about them dating started right b4 “Leave ‘em Alone” came out.
