When celebrities don’t see you act the way society dictates them how they supposed to people feel the need to label them. Alicia ain’t exposing her booty cheeks, she is not an airhead, she’s not overly “girly” (doesn’t cry if she broke her nail, conversations ain’t about her favorite shoes or lipstick), so yeah she HAS to be a lesbian. This is the reason why all those rappers try so hard to claim they’re pimping, all those Ushers and Chris Browns and Omarions brag about pimping, cause y’all will label them gay or whatever if they don’t act a certain way.
Alicia’s beyond all the artists of our generations in my eyes, I’m not saying her music is the greatest of all times, but in the words of John Mayer “She’s the strongest artist of our time, she got the vision on LOCK!”. She knows who she is and what her purpose in life is. She doesn’t waste time on unnecessary stress and bullshit, and didn’t choose a skankish image to “prove” something, fuck the rumors, she ain’t trying to act like people think she’s supposed to, she’s doing her. She’s smart, classy and wise, and that can’t be denied. I think that compared to other artists of this generation, Alicia is definitely on a whole ‘nother level spiritually, artistically and politically.

I totally understand why artists and other celebs choose to keep their homosexuality on the low in the industry. The sad but very real fact is that although TOLERATED, homosexuality is still not an acceptable lifestyle in mainstream America.

Whether or not alicia is a lesbian or bi. she makes music that can stand the test of time. she is gracceful classy and comes off as a eloquent and humble person. personally on some songs i dont like her voice and otehrs i can listen to all day (i.e Diary). i think its her inner beauty that comes through because we were in the same high school and she was always very geeky looking frizzy hair and all that.she wasw able to spend time focusing on studies and music which in the end worked out well for her. because now she is stunning and a truely confident women. PREACH!! I agree with all that you said 100%. I think that Alicia is beyond ALL the artist of our generation as well. Her talent and self-assurance speaks volumes for who she must be as a person. While i’m not all into celebs the way that some seem to be on these blogsites, I have to say that I really appreciate and respect what Alicia Keys stands for both as a WOMAN and an ARTIST. I feel like when all is said and done, she is going to be here 20 years from now. What she brings to the game is irreplaceable, which puts her pretty much in a league of her own…..
