ok.
#’s 203-EBZ01, 209- AYCH, 217- KENYANPEBBLES, 218/219- TBERRY & 222 MOCHA BUTTERFLY.
I AGREE WITH YOU ALL WHOLE HEARTEDLY.
I WAS CONFUSED IN MY EARLIER POSTS AS TO WHAT QUALIFIES AS ‘BLACK’. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE ONE DROP/ 1/16 THEORY. I’M A DARK SKINNED 2ND GENERATION AFRICAN IMMIGRANT FROM THE UK. I’VE LIVED IN THE US FOR 2 YEARS AND THIS HAD NEVER COME UP TIL I MOVED OUT HERE. MOST OF MY BI-RACIAL FRIENDS PREFER TO BE CONSIDERED JUST THAT- BI RACIAL. BECAUSE THEY FEEL THAT THEY EQUALLY BELONG TO EVERY RACE THAT COMPLETES THEM. I BELIEVE PEOPLE SHOULD IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS WHATEVER MAKES THEM HAPPY. I HAVE NO COMPLEX ABOUT WHAT I AM. IT WAS ONLY WHEN I CAME TO THAT STATES THAT I WAS BOMBARDED WITH COMENTS LIKE ‘YOU’RE REAL PRETTY FOR A DARK SKINNED GIRL’… I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW I WAS CONSIDERED DARK!LOL. BUT FOR REAL PEOPLE POST ON CONCRETE LOOP FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT TAKE ON THINGS DEPENDING ON WHERE THEY’RE FROM. AND FROM MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE IN THE UK BI RACIAL PEOPLE ARE CALLED BI RACIAL. SIMPLE AS THAT. BECAUSE THE VAST MAJORITY OF BI RACIAL OR LIGHTSKINNED PEOPLE IN THE UK ( INCLUDING MY NIECES AND NEPHEWS) ARE MIXED WITH BLACK AND WHITE. WE CALL BLACK PEOPLE BLACK. BUT IT’S GENERALLY NARROWED DOWN TO WHERE PEOPLE ARE FROM EG- JAMAICAN/ NIGERIAN/ ETHIOPIAN.
I RECENTLY WATCHED A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT BIRACIAL TWINS WHERE ONE OF THE TWINS IS BLACK AND THE OTHER IS WHITE. THIS ISN’T AS UNCOMMON AS YOU THINK. I FEW YEARS AGO IN THE UK A YOUNG ‘BLACK’ COUPLE ( BOTH HAD WHITE MOTHERS AND BLACK FATHERS ) HAD TWIN GIRLS. ONE WAS WHOTE WITH BLONDE HAIR AND BLUE EYES THE OTHER WAS DARKER THAN BOTH OF THEM. MY CURIOSITY WAS WHAT WOULD THE ‘WHITE’ TWIN IDENTIFY HERSELF AS WHEN SHE GETS OLDER? CONSIDERING BOTH HER PARENTS AND TWIN SISTER ARE ‘BLACK’.
AND THAT WAS REALLY MY QUESTION. HOW DO PEOPLE IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS BLACK. TO ME BLACK AND WHITE ARE JUST COLORS. I DONT KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE BLATANTLY BI-RACIAL ( EVEN THOUGH EVERYONE TRULY IS ).
I DONT MEAN TO OFFEND ANYONE BY THIS POST I AM GENUINLY INTERESTED IN PEOPLES OPINIONS.
@ #199- ‘COONS WITH A COMPLEX ARE DESTROYING BLACK AMERICA’
YOU RESPONSE TO MY POST CAME ACROSS AS IGNORANT. I WAS SIMPLY ASKING A QUESTION. YOU CAME AT ME WITH AGRESSION AND PROFANITY. THIS IS AN OPEN BLOG, SO I RESPECT YOUR RIGHT TO SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT TO SAY. JUST- RELAX. IT REALLY ISN’T BIG OF YOU TO COME ON HERE AND DISRESPECT PEOPLE. BUT I HOPE YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF AND HAVE A WONDERFUL BLESSED DAY.
@ #226- ART
YOU SAID : if you really want to talk about who stands out… alek wek is not american and she is not a successful business woman like the other 3!!! alek is the one who makes the least sense in the photo!!!
I THINK SHE STAND OUT BECAUSE SHE THE TOKEN DARK GIRL.LOL( JUST KIDDING )
AND FINALLY YES. THE COVER IS BEAUTIFUL. THEY ALL LOOK GREAT.- WHICH IS ALL THAT REALLY NEEDED TO BE SAID. BUT I GUESS WE NEED THIS .

WHEW!
GOD SAVE AMERICA!
MIND SLAVERY IS STILL ALIVE AND KICKING. IN AMERICA! THE ONLY PLACE IN THE WORLD WHERE THE BLACK MAN IS STILL NOT AT PEACE WITH HIS SOUL. MASAA TRULY DID HIS JOB THOROUGH WORKING YOU ALL UP.
2007 AND THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN IS STILL RUNNING AROUND LIKE LOST SHEEP WITH NO SHEPHERED TO GUIDE THEM TO THEIR SOULS “HOME”
IN SOUTH AMERICA THE BLACKS STILL PRESERVE AND HOLD THEIR CULTURE AND ROOTS HIGH AND BEAR IT WITH PRIDE.
IN THE CARIBEANS THE BLACK MAN DOES THE SAME (MAJORITY)
IN EUROPE, BLACK PEOPLE DON´T EVEN USE NATIONALITIES ANY MORE TO INTRODUCE THEMSELVES. TO THEM THEY ARE SIMPLY “AFRICANS”
IN AFRICA THEY MINGLE AND CO-INHABIT WITH EACH OTHER AT A FASTER RATE THAN IN THE PAST THAT A UNITED AFRICA IS SOON “INEVITABLE”
THEN THERE IS AMERICA………….THE ONE PLACE WHERE THE BLACK MAN THINKS HE HOLDS THE LAST SAY AND IS THE TRUE REPRESANTATION OF ALL THAT IS BLACK AND AFRICAN.
THEN THERE IS AMERICA………THE ONE PLACE WHERE THE BLACK MAN EVEN THOUGH HE FEARS AND IS ASHAMED OF HIS BLACKNESS THINKS HE HAS THE RIGHT TO EVALUATE WHO HAS THE RIGHT TO WEAR THE “BLACK” BADGE OF HONOUR.
THEN THERE IS AMERICA……..THE ONE PLACE THAT THINKS IT´S THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS SUFFERED MASSIVE BRUTALIZATION IN THE HANDS OF THE WHITE MAN AND THEREFORE ANY OTHER BLACK PERSON IN ANY OTHER PART OF THE WORLD CAN´T FATHOM THEIR PAIN AND THUS THEIR OPINION IN ALL THAT IS BLACK AND “BLACK SUFFERING” DOESN´T MATTER.
THEN THERE IS AMERICA……..THE ONE PLACE THAT HASN´T LEARNT TO LET GO. TO LIVE AND LET LIVE. ERASE THE “THEMS” AND “US”, THUS FURTHER SUBDIVIDING THE “US” BY THE WHITE MANS SCALE OF LIGHT AND DARK SKINNED.
THEN THERE IS AMERICA WHERE ONE IS BRAINWASHED TO BELIEVE THIS AS POSTED BY A TRUE MASAA BRAINWASHED GOON LIKE #216 JUDE
“The blacks brought here on slave ships are the only race that can gain fame worldwide with the phenomenal talents that the Lord has blessed them with, go to any country or continent, and be worshipped as god-like figures”
SO THE WHITE MAN PIMPS YOU IN THE REAR HOLE WITH TRICKS LIKE “BLINGS”…..BLOOD DIAMONDS, FAME AND POPULARITY BY PIMPING YOUR OWN WOMEN TO THE REST OF THE WORLD…..MASAA IS “RAPING THEM AGAIN” AND YOU ARE PROUD OF THE REWARDS.
BLACK EXPLOITATION IS STILL RUNNING RAMPAT AND MOST OF THE PEOPLE ARE PROUD TO BEAR IT LIKE IT WAS PRADA AND GUCCI.
AM HAPPY WHENEVER AM IN JAMAICA AND SEE MOST PEOPLE DEFIANT TO AMERICANIZATION.
AM HAPPY WHEN IN BRAZIL AND CUBA AND STILL SEE ALOTTA AFRICAN CULTURE AND BELIEFS UPHEAVED SURPRISINGLY EVEN BY THE WHITES.
AM HAPPY WHEN IN AFRICA AND SEE ALL THE BEAUTIFUL CULTURES, THE CLOTHES, MUSIC, LIFESTYLE, SITTING ON THE VERANDER WITH THE ELDERS AND HAVING FOLKLORES TRANSLATED TO ME.
LORD KNOWS I “CRINGE” EVERYTIME I SEE A BRAINWASHED AMERICAN WANNABE GOON PASS MY WAY WITH HIS/HER IGNORANCE.
BUT MOSTLY AM HAPPY THAT ALOTTA AFRICANS IN AFRICA ARE STARTING TO EMBRACE AND BE PROUD OF THEMSELVES, AND ARE PROUD TO SPEAK THEIR OWN LANGUAGE WHICH WAS MORE OF A “HOOD” THING IN THE PAST.
AM PROUD TO COME TO EUROPE AND SEE NOT ONLY BLACKS BUT WHITES STARTING TO EMBRACE AFRICAN CULTURES,
IT´S SAFE TO SAY THET EUROPE IS ONE OF THE FEW PARTS OF THE WORLD WHERE A WHITE MAN / WOMAN CAN BE AFRICAN WITHOUT GETTING A BEAT DOWN.
I ONLY PRAY THAT AFRICAN- AMERICANS FIND THEMSELVES SOON.
MARTIN LUTHER KING DREAMT AND FOUGHT FOR IT.
MALCOM X DID THE SAME.
MARCUS GARVEY WARNED US TO BE UNITED AND ORGANISED FOR IT IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN BE KINGS IN OUR OWN RIGHTS. DIVIDED WE FALL.
NELSON MANDELA GAVE UP HIS FREEDOM FOR HIS PEOPLE (ALL SOUTH AFRICANS NOT ONLY HIS TRIBE)
THE MAUMAU WARRIORS FOUGHT AND DIED FOR NOT ONLY THE KIKUYUS BUT KENYANS AS A WHOLE.
I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT AFRICAN FREEDOM FIGHTERS FROM ALL PARTS OF THE WORLD TIL TOMMOROW BUT IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH.
ALL THE TRUE WARRIORS ARE GONE. BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOW WALKING BLIND BEING FOOLED AND TRICKED WITH MONEY AND FAME ALL THE WHILE WE ARE SLOWLY BEING EXTINGUISHED . WE ARE A DYING “PEOPLE” WE AIN´T EVEN PUTTING UP A FIGHT.
HELL, WE ARE OUR OWN ENEMIES NOW.
IS THIS WHAT IT HAS COME TOO?
I CAN SEE WHY BEING WHITE WOULD SEEM LIKE AN ATTRACTIVE OPTION RIGHT NOW.
BUT WILL I GIVE UP? NO!
I REFUSE TO HATE ON OTHER BLACK PEOPLE!
I REFUSE TO LET OTHER PEOPLES IGNORANCE PREVENT ME FROM WALKING BLACK AND PROUD.
I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE LESSER AND HIGHER BLACK PEOPLE!
I REFUSE TO GIVE UP THE FIGHT COZ I KNOW SOON THERE SHALL COME A BLACK LEADER TO GUIDE US INTO THE LIGHT ONCE AGAIN.
I KNOW THAT SOON THE WORLD WILL HAVE ENOUGH OF THIS SO CALLED “BLACK PIMPING” “BLACK SEGRAGATION” FOR YOU CAN ONLY RUN AWAY FROM YOURSELF FOR SO LONG BEFORE IT CATCHES UP TO YOU.
BLACK PEOPLE IN AMERICA, WHY DO YOU HAVE SO MUCH HATE AMONG YOURSELVES?
ISN´T ENOUGH THAT THE REST OF THE WORLD LOOKS DOWN ON US? DO WE HAVE TO BEAT OURSELVES DOWN TOO?
WHY DO WE HAVE SO MUCH RACE AND COLOR ISSUES IN AMERICA AMONG THE BLACK COMMUNITY? WHY?
WHY?
WHY?
SOMEBODY GET TO THE BOTTOM LINE OF THIS PLEAZE!

That’s what Im talking about. Unlike certain people on this blog, your makes the most sense. You dont need the bible (which has been written over numerous times for the past hundreds of years) to know what you are talking about. You preach from the heart and soul. That is all. Just to let you know on the safe side, if the certain person comes back and read what you said, please just wipe that person out once and for all.

wow, I was curious to see how this discussion is going. All I can say is their past was ruled by actions in their present, and our future will be ruled by our actions in our present.
As a mother who is Asian married to a man who is Black, we will teach our child about both his Asian and Black-African-American heritage. I don’t see him as only Black, and I hope that he doesn’t see himself as only Black. He is both, but that doesn’t make him not one race or the other. He is BOTH, Black and Asian- just look at his parents(both mom and dad)- it’s in his blood.
Do you really need to be quoted text from the bible or a book to understand that? Is it that hard to comprehend that if you are of mixed race then you are made of those races? I’m trying to see this from the other side of the argument and I can’t. If Kimora says she’s Asian then what I can’t say about it, of course she’s Asian. Her proof is in her blood lineage. If you are mixed with French, Creole, Jamaican, African, etc. Then you are made of ALL those races. You are French, Creole, Jamaican, African, etc. It’s just that simple, you don’t have to get techinical. If it’s more complicated than that to you, then it’s because you make it that way.

everyone looks nice. however, tyra is not positioned properly. everyone is close together except her. she’s off to the side as is if she’s not with the rest of the group. the photographer should’ve positioned them better.
i think they should have referred to them as colored women. the word colored basically refers to everyone who is not caucasian, such as african-americans, latinos, hispanics, etc. kimora should not be excluded because she is half black, however her overall look is asian. so most people would not relate her to being black. as a matter of fact, most people wouldn’t even know she was black if they weren’t told so. so the word colored would have been a better choice. as far as african-americans are concerned, i think we should go back to calling ourselves colored. we have color unlike caucasions who do not have color. however, we are not black. we are different shades of brown. black is a word related to evil and darkness. while white has been a word related to being pure. i.e. angel’s food cake is white, and devil’s food cake is black, black market meaning illegal market, etc. that’s why white people have referred to us as black b/c they want to refer to us as something that is related with negativity. we don’t refer to latino’s as orange or indian’s as red when we fill out information on standardized test and other documents. so why should we call ourselve’s black when we are not black? we are so many different beautiful shades of COLOR.

#138, Hi Tammy, if he chooses to put a race down, I’m hoping that he’ll write in that he’s Black/Asian. That’s how I fill out his paperwork now, when he was a newborn I had to take him in for some blood work. I wrote in Black/Asian because I wanted to make sure that when they looks at his blood result that they knew he is both. On a medical level- there are some diseases that are more prevalent within the different races. On top of that, he is both.
So as a mother, I want him to embrace both mine and his father’s culture. Not to see himself as just one or the other but that he is both.

My mom is white and my dad is black. You can tell that I have a white parent, but when I look in the mirror I see a black woman that goes out into the world and is treated as such! I am very much into black culture and I can’t see my life otherwise.
White and Asian mothers are doing their kids a disservice by having them carring on with this mixed B.S. My mom is still white and I love her, but the reality is that I am black and she can’t change that.
I am not choosing to be black over white because I am not white. My mom understands that and has no problem with it.
I have a friend and a friend of a friend who are biracial and they look white. They don’t go around blacting that they have a black parent, so why does my identifying with my blackness should mean that I am denying my white parent?
Also I find that black people are too preoccupied with color. Let us work on getting together and solving the problems in our community and in Africa.
A lot of African Americans feel that they are black and Africans. But there is a Diaspora out there of black poeple.. From India, Australia, the Caribbean, South America, etc.. Blackness is not how kinky your hair is or how dark you.. It takes strength to be black - to be that which everyone hates, and still survive!! I am my brother’s keeper and always will be!
Peace!

@241- You can’t say that parents are doing their kids a disservice about this “mix BS”. I would be doing him a disservice to only teach him 1 race. My job as a mother is to teach my child everything I can to prepare him for life. When he becomes old enough he will learn to make his own decision and be prepare to handle the situations that he’ll face himself, I hope that I did my job by teaching him ways to help make those decisions.
Let’s say I forget that I’m Asian and only have him embrace the Black culture.
He will never know the struggles that his mom’s family went through to leave a country during a war to get to the US. He could learn about the Khmer Rouge through books but he’ll never know how that story is part of his story. He’ll never hear his granparents tell him about how they had to walk through fields of dead bodied carrying his mom and uncle on their back. That during this walk you only steps on the areas where the dead bodies are because you knew that the land mines have already blown there.
On a brighter side, he won’t know what the Harvest Moon Festival is and won’t know all the different kinds of food that are cooked for this festival. Or that when I was a kid in the Fall; instead of Halloween- I looked forward to Harvest Moon.
That is just a snippet of my life story that I will share with him so that he understands where his mom came from and why I am who I am.
We will also teach him that he’s from a family of Share Croppers/Slaves. We can trace his dad’s side to slavary. Books will teach him what slavery is and what is did to people but he’ll know first hand how slavery impacted his family and made them stronger. The choice his great/gg/ggg/gggg-grandparents made, what they had to face and what bigotry is.
So you see the mixed BS isn’t so BS when you start to think about it in regards to your family’s makeup. I want my son to know that we work hard for everything we have and that he’s from a family of resilent and strong people.

@228 TYTY
WHY you may ask? I believe you spoke the answer: Not willing to let go.
Not willing to let go of the past of Slavery, not willing to let go of the self-hatred that was fed into Black people by American Society and ourselves, not willing to forgive and let God take the wheel of life. WE ARE OUR OWN WORSE ENEMY. We are so cruel and disrespectful to one another that it is disturbing. This is nothing but the devil.
And the sad part is that some of us don’t know the damage we are doing to ourselves. This comes from pure ignorance and lack of self respect in some people. We should be happy and praising God that this young lady Kimora is doing something positive with her life. But instead, few disapprove of her for her ethnic race…some people you can never please.
255.

Monday, August 13, 2007 /
This is crazy. I knew there would be some race wars going on when I saw Kimora on the cover. I guess I have to speak on this now. Um, she is half black and read some books so some of you can learn that children DO take race after their father. Naomi and Tyson are of Asian decent. Biracial is NOT a race, it is more of a color thing and I don’t even feed into that crazy hype. It’s not cool to make people of mixed race feel like they should come up with their own heritage. I agree with everyone who said we most of us are not 100% of anything. Also, Naomi’s attitude is pretty bad and I don’t care what she has done for the fashion world, she did not deserve to be on the cover. One last question, WHY does any of this stuff matter. All we had to do was comment on the magazine and then here comes the slavery stuff. Stop it with that slavery talk, you were NOT a slave and it is not important anymore. Get over it. I would also like to support the educated people speaking on this. I tried to let it go, but some people need to start paying attention to history and in school; BIOLOGY to be exact. But I still give much love to everyone. Don’t get your panties in a bunch if you are one of the ignorant. It’s only a post LOL

why is it so bad to say bi-racial? who cares if a person chooses to identify with both groups instead of just one? more power to the bi-racial kids who choose to identify with one side. who cares…. it’s more of a personal choice and we can’t force anyone into a category. if kimora considers herself black why do you care? if she wants to be cablasian like tiger woods then that’s her business. people get so caught up in categories instead of just being happy that we are all different but still people. the outside doesn’t define the inside. it’s just a shell. get over it….

so i have mental issues bec I pointed out the truth based on FACT. You are born of two races, isnt that a fact. I was not trying to be combative with you just stating the fact. I dont see how a biracial person is black or white or one category (this is the case only based on the one drop rule designed whites). It makes sense to me that they embrace all of their races and ethnicities. Halley Berry is not black anymore than Mariah Carey is white. Neither are black or white but BOTH. Kimora is not black, FACT. Kimora is multiracial, FACT. Therefore she shouldnt have been on the cover as inspirational black women.

oskana–so are you saying that mix people have to wait for someone to write a story on multi-racial moguls for Kimora to be on the cover? If the story was about successful Asian business woman that Kimora shouldn’t be considered either because she’s not Asian?
I mean really, this doesn’t have to get into political correctness and all that jive. It’s just a matter of what it is. She is BLACK and she is ASIAN.
ok, I’m done. It’s safe to say that many of us should just agree to disagree.

Yes mix people should have to wait, blacks have waited so why not them. Should she be considered on the cover of Asian magazine? maybe, well I am not asian so i dunno about that one. That depends on how the asian community feels about having a black-asian woman representing them. I suspect though they would prefer seeing an asian woman represent another asian woman not a biracial woman representing asian women. I am a black woman and I would prefer to see black women on the cover representing other black women not mix/biracial women representing black women, btw which white media has already bombarded us with.
yes i will agree to disagree.
265.
Just a thought....
Monday, August 13, 2007 /
The reason why Tyra, Kimora, Iman, and Alek are on the cover is because they are major business women in the fashion world. That’s why Naomi and Liya are not on the cover. Each of these women have MAJOR, successful fashion-oriented businesses.
Naomi and Liya do not have fashion-oriented businesses. Naomi has a purfume and she has a successful marketing/event planning company and Liya has her contracts, but these ladies on the cover are “movers and shakers” in the industry.
All you have to do is read the full caption under the picture and it tells you.
And Kimora is half Black/half Korean. She always calls herself and identifies herself as Black. And she was a highly successful haute coulture model. She has done tons of Chanel runway shows and was a favorite of Karl Lagerfield, who praised her “Afro-Asiatic” beauty as he called it.
I think the cover looks great!

i dont understand how people can say kimora is Black. when shes not black beause shes made by two people who were black and asian. this makes kimora half black and half asian.
im not a hater and i love kimora (always sporting baby phat) but her being mixed race, bi-racial what ever you wonna call it is true.
Alot of people didnt even know she was half black including the media, alot of people only found out because she said the N word on camera on at a fashion magazine and everyone was calling her a racist. then she said she was half black.

I think we know that the person maybe “biracial” but we just they are Black. Just like some Asians and Korean Americans will say that Kimora is Asian.
It’s just wording. Lots of biracial black people have made strides and great acheivements in our culture. Lena Horne, Eartha Kitt, Jasmine Guy, Shekara Ledard, Shemar Moore, Cassie, Amerie, Lenny Kravitz, Tracy Ellis Ross, Melanie B., Halle Berry, W.E.B DuBois, Chili, Salli Richardson, Mario Van Peebles, Barack Obama, Naomie Lenoir, Giancarlo Esposito, James Blake, Fredrick Douglass; all of these people are biracial and calls themselves (or called themselves) Black all the time, but we know they are biracial and they know and acknowledge that they are biracial. And they represent us in their chosen professions and chooses to identify with being Black.
What’s the big deal? We used to not have a problem with this issue. As long as they were part-Black, they were fine. Now, for some reason, we are getting up in arms.
We are all Black. Part of the African Diaspora. Let’s embrace the cover and send congrats on their acheivements. Because being a Black model in the Fashion industry is not easy!

SOME OF THE COMMENTS ON THIS BOARD ARE SO FUCKING REDICULOUS! FIRST OF ALL, IF YOU GO TO EBONY’S WEBSITE THEY SAY THAT THEY WANTED THE TOP MODELS WHO ARE ALSO MOGULS ON THE COVER! THAT IS WHY EACH ONE OF THEM WERE PICKED. THEY ARE ALL TOP MODELS THAT ALSO HAVE OTHER HUGE BUSINESSES! NAOMI DOESN’T HAVE A HUGE BUSINESS AND THAT IS WHY SHE DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT! KIMORA WAS THE FACE OF CHANEL AT THE AGE OF 14 AND WALKED FOR MANY FASHION HOUSES BEFORE AMERICA EVEN KNEW WHO SHE WAS! SHE HAD HER OWN MONEY AND TO ALSO BE HONEST, RUSSELL DIDN’T GIVE HER ANYTHING. HE HAS SAID IN INTERVIEWS THAT SHE FIRST STARTED OFF AS THE FASHION ADVISER FOR PHAT FARM AND BECAUSE HER INFLUENCE LED TO THE COMPANY BECOMING EVEN BIGGER, THAT IS WHY SHE FORMED BABY PHAT! RUSSELL HAD AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HER COMPANY THAT IS ALL HER! HERE IS THE VID AND IF IT DOESN’T PLAY, JUST GO TO http://WWW.ebonyjet.com.

The big deal is we took the whole one drop rule for granted and we shouldnt have. This drop rule was designed by whites and we accepted it. We screwed ourselves up in the process with categories such that anyone with a drop of afro blood then they are black, NOT. Biracial people are just that biracial not one thing or the other but multiples. Another big deal is the fact that whites will often elevate those who are biracial and putting them in black categories rather than elevating those are one category black. Hence they get preferential treatment, hence they are not black or “better versions” of black. Ofcourse colorism is also at play but thats another story. Yes lots of biracial people have chosen to identify themselves in a mono category, this social identity not biological obviously, however this was in many situations forced upon them to “choose” because white society can not handle such complications. So thats the big deal.

Why do you have a problem with it?
If the dominant gene is black and the person is black what is it your business? You are a champion for biracial folks now?
Mind your business! I am black, it has nothing to do with who I chose.. That is just the way it is.. If you have a problem, go on a biracial site and mingle with other confused people..

Yeah but some people would argue that some of these “biracial” people are Black, because of biology. I mean there are various theories on this subject but what it comes down to is this, they are part-Black, they are half Black. They are not colors. This is not a Crayola factory.
Regardless of what a person may choose to “call” themselves, it’s what you feel you are the most connected to, on the inside. Kimora embraces her African American identity, so let’s celebrate her along with the other fab ladies on the cover.
It seems that when a biracial person claims or say they Black, sometimes we may say, we question their “blackness”. But then if a biracial person say there not Black and they are half-Black, then we are up in arms.
Since we got these people choosing to identify with their Black racial heritage completely, again, that’s why I say what’s the big deal?

Blacks are more accepting than any other race when it comes to things like this. But when you lie and put down the black race but still try to use blacks to sell things then ther’s a problem. Karl Lagerfeld and Russell Simmons and so many others “dropped” her ass because she is a bitch. I don’t see people who wear “Baby Phat”. Kimora only wears her “tacky creations” when she wants to promote that “mess”. She lies about everything and who she is. Before Russell, Kimora was a Prision Guard in Missouri do your research on her! She spent all her “Modeling” money on “vanity”. I don’t understand why she is even on the cover of this magazine!

Lenny Kravitz has a white father, but he is black however you shake it!
In fact, most black people in this part of the world has some sort of mixture.
I am judging you are mixed and you are angry at the white fellas that created the one drop rule.. LMAO..
Whether the one drop rule existed or not, I am still black!
Why don’t you go on one of those sites and discuss this with people that think like you? Why are you here? No one cares about what you have to say. You sound like a 14 year old confused child.

Lenny K. is biracial no matter how you spin it, he’s not black. One black parent and the other is white, therefore he’s biracial, i dont understand why are you so confused.
If the one drop rule didnt exist or race wasnt so complicated of a sunject you would not be classfying yourself as black because your not.
I am a black woman who is angry (lol. excuse the steorotype) that biracial women, who are seen as “better”, portrayed as black women when they are not.
I am here to state my opinion, I am sorry you have a problem with that. I believe my opinion is just as valid and important as yours. If you didnt care what I had to say then u wouldnt respond to me but obviously I matter because you did.
I am not confused hence why I am defending my position.

And after everyone reads those wonderful diaspora books lets see if someone will tell me that Mariah Carey is Black. Let see someone tell me that Mariah Carey can represent black women and be treated the same way black women are treated in this society. Let me wait and see if Mariah types can be called nappy headed hos, let me see if mariah types can be the least married group in the world, let me see if mariah types can be passed on for major film roles, let me see if mariah types go missing and the media ignores it. Yes I will read the diaspora books and let u know that Kimora and Mariah types are black and can represent black women.

————————————————————-
looks like no matter how you cut it they are all black…
Also,
After reading more of these posts, I think I understand the reason for the differing view’s over “who’s black enough” it boils down to preferential treatments. Mix blacks(lighter blacks) are seen as the preferred group over people who see themselves as 100%black (darker coloring). Which goes back to the light skin/dark skin debate that always pops up. I’ve been reading CL for a while now, even before I started posting and the different shades always comes up. It’s probably not so much that the person is mixed but that most mix kids are light skin. A person like Tyson/Naomi/Kelis doesn’t get put in the same category as Halle/Kimora/Mariah because even though they are bi-racial/multi-racial they “look” black.
I know a child about 8 yrs old, who looks like she’s mix, her hair color is honey brown, eyes are hazel, and skin is high yellow but she’s not. Her mom and dad are both darker complexion- like Kelly Rowland’s shade. But parents have albino great-grandparents, which explain why the baby has the coloring that she has even though her parents are darker. Add that as another caveat into your discussion.
Why should you play into that trap, it’s a trap that every race faces. Fair Asians are seen by the media outlets as the preferred group of people, if your darker you’re not as pretty/”good” not matter who you are. Every race is mix, that’s been said before too, just like most Blacks are mixed, so are whites, asians, latinos, middle eastern. Even if they aren’t mix 10 generations back, they are geography wise. I don’t need a geneologist/anthropologist/biologist/seimotologist(I know this one can’t be right–but the people who studies earthquakes and faults lines), to tell me that at 1 time we were 1 land mass, which explains why in every race you see simliarities. Not all white people have small noses, they get their nose fixed. Not all Asian’s have double eyelids, they get that fixed, not all middle esterns have green/blue eyes, they wear color contacts. BUT there are people in all those races who have all those features, there are Africans and Asian who swears they aren’t mix but have color pupils.
I mean, my son had blue eyes until he was about 6 mos, and there’s no way. One of my girlfriends told me that her daughter had blues eyes too until she was about a yr old and both her and her then fiance are darker skin blacks. It just tells me that we all have similarities and people 70/90 yrs ago didn’t want to see that because they were egocentric and saw themselves as better. Not to put this on Whites- Europeans- but for some reason they though that the Bible was their card to go out and conquer/kill/enslave people according to their Bible. I don’t take the Bible literally because it’s been translated many times over by MEN (Europeans) and the version that most of us use was translated from Latin. I take it as a book of stories, Jesus story is perfect for the plight of the African slaves, Jesus was crucified because the Romans feared him. African slaves were crucified also because (some) people feared them and who they are, same goes for Native Americans. The lesson hearned here is that fear is powerful and (some) people will do anything to “kill” what they fear. That’s where racism comes from, they fear what they don’t know and don’t want to know, they only think to destroy. If we break their spirits then we don’t have to fear them.
Kids mixed with Black are Black, to tell them that they aren’t Black enough and will never be Black is essentially trying to break their spirits. You aren’t one of us, don’t try to be one of us- your’e not a purebreed like us and will never be.
I know I wrote a lot and there’s probably a bunch of grammatical and spelling errors..also I probably went on a couple of tangents but I hope it’s coherent.

@219
Where does the Bible say that “all men were created equal”? Lmao, you’re a complete idiot. That bullshit is from the Declaration of Independence. It’s good that you’ve never had the “time or energy” to respond because you would’ve exposed your stupidity alot sooner. I can’t stop laughing, straight up. Ya stupid ass quoted the Declaration of Independence (written while blacks were in the cottonfield) and attributed it to the Bible. The Bible says in numerous verses that the Lord has a chosen people above all people (Exodus 19:5,6, Deut 7:6, II Chronicles 17:21-24, Matt 10:5,6, etc.). You probably too stupid to read that, lol. You made my day homie.
@234
If you have a problem with me sis, then address me like an adult. The Bible is above your level of comprehension so you need to take a woman’s word for the Lord’s Word. You’re just offended by me because you don’t know what you’re talking about. Now listen to what you said, “you don’t need the Bible to preach the Word…” Lol, you sound stupid as hell. That’s like saying, “you don’t need to go to law school to be a lawyer.” If you’re not going to quote from the Bible to talk about God, then you’re talking about god, just not the God of the Bible. By the way, no one can “wipe me out”, lol.

#289 even if Naomi for example is of Asian decent. At the end of the day when I see her I see a BLACK women. The cover of Ebony reads: Top BLACK model. The only person that looks out of place to me is KIMORA becasue at the end of the day it does not matter that one of her parents is black, she still looks like something other than BLACK. Just becasue you have 10%, 15%,25% or 50% black blood in you it know means you are BLACK? Since many have stated that it is least likely that you would find anyone who is not of mixed race, when I am walking down the street no one looks at me and says hey check out the black female with a drop of jewish blood, what they see is a BLACK female and at the end of the day that is what I am and PROUD of it. Ebony made an error in judgement if you are going to run am issue that reads BLACK MODEL then they by right should have models who are actually BLACK and look BLACK. Naomi Campbell 1st black female to grace the cover of Vogue, if I am not correct, Beverly Johnson, Beverly Peale. What about them. Those are women I relate to becasue when I see them I see ME, not KIMORA.

#292, No that is not what I am saying. I know that us black people come darker then Alek Wek and as light as Vanessa Williams or even lighter than her. All I am saying is that when I look at Kimora on the cover of vogue and also other pictures of her I honestly see nothing black about her. I do recognize that yes her father is black, however Ebony still could have made another choice in thier selection.

“Prior to the period that I’m referring to (14th & 15th century) the people of the world were not referred to by their color. Therefore, the concept of a white people is a creation; the same is true of black people, of yellow people and brown people. The concept of race that now plague the world is an artificial European invention. Professor Ashley Mortagu has referred to it as man’s great myth. While the word race and the concepts around it are aritificial, the effects of its creation are real. The application of this concept has affected the lives of most of the people of the world.” Excerpt from Yurugu Introduction by John Henry Clarke
