THIS IS AN OUT AND OUT LIE, HOW DID KIMORA MAKE THIS CUT! SHE WASN’T EVEN THAT SUCCESSFUL OF A MODEL BEFORE SHE MET RUSSELL! TOP MODEL MY ASS, MORE LIKE TOP TURKEY NECK WHICH I SEE THEY PHOTOSHOPPED OUT OF THIS PHOTO.
Alek’s skin is so pretty and luminous, you don’t see that everyday. You know they usually say we are ashy, but her skin always as a natural glow and glisten to it; so smooth and velvet like. Iman has beautiful skin too.

I think that this is a beautiful cover. For those ignorat people who don’t know, Kimora is black. When are black people going to stop hating on each other? That is what’s wrong with us now. We always have to tear other people down especially with our own race. Just because she took more after her mother’s side of the family doesn’t mean she’s not black. I’m glad to see strong black women representing like this.

No Naiomi… OK. Kimmora…..OK. I LOVE Alek Wek, so beautiful. As far as who is black as who isn’t- this topic is getting really tiering. I know if slavery came back today- I would be on that boat sailing away- not alot of people can say that. My shade is dark; therefore I am black, negro, negra, whatever. HALF OF ANYTHING IS NOT COMPLETE- SIMPLE MATH.

Yeah Kimora is black, but she isn’t a supermodel like Liya or Naomi, so to put her on the cover over these ladies is wrong, also if she hadn’t dated Russell, who would know who she is …it’s not about tearing down a person, it’s about giving credit where’s it’s due.Heck Beverly Johnson deserved to be on the cover also.

WHY IS IT THAT WHEN THE MODELING INDUSTRY SELECTS A VERY DARK SKINNED BLACK MODEL, THEY HAVE TO LOOK LIKE ALEK WEK. SORRY, BUT ALEK WEK IS NOT ATTRACTIVE, SHE LOOKS EXOTIC AND THAT IS WHY THEY SELECT VERY DARK SKINNED MODELS. WHY IS KIMORA LEE ON THE COVER AND NOT BEVERLY JOHNSON. ALTHOUGH I AM A EBONY AND JET MAGAZINE FANATIC, THEY HAVE A HISTORY OF COLORISM,JUST CHECK OUT THE EDITIONS FROM THE EARLY YEARS OF THE MAGAZINES AND YOU WILL SEE LIGHT SKINNED WOMEN DOMINATING THE COVERS. BEFORE ANYONE JUMPS THE GUN, I SUPPORT ALEK WEK. JUST BECAUSE I DISAGREE WITH HOW SHE LOOKS DOES NOT MEAN I DISAGREE WITH HER SKIN COMPLEXION.

@ #40 - I’m sorry, but you are not black! You and Kimora as well as other mixed people need to learn to love your own race - BIRACIAL! True black people don’t have Asian, White, Phillipino, Mexican, etc…mixed in their blood. You are MIXED and Im sure that you are beautiful, but you have to learn to embrace your own race.

Seriously some of you guys do NOT know the history of Black people and that is a shame.
For your information because of SLAVERY most Blacks are mixed with different races that is why WE R BLACK and NOT AFRICAN.
Kimora’s Father is Black and he’s more than likely mixed.
Unless you’re African you are mixed and so are your parents, unless they are 100% african.

Some of ya’ll that are believing that you are 100% African need to go take genealogy tests to see all the other ethnicities that you may be made of before you talk about anybody else…Just because you look “black” does not necessarily mean that you are all of the way, especially if your ancestors have been in America for centuries…and even if your parents are from Africa does not necessarily mean they are all of the way African either due to colonialism…I don’t know why this topic is even an issue in 2007…please do your history…

To Lisa (#57 & 58) …there’s no reason to wear your feelings on your sleeve. Why would I stop talking/posting comments, especially when this is a blog??? That right there let me know that you are a young dummy…but one things for sure….my mom isn’t Asian, White, Phillipino, Mexican….well you get the picture. And I didn’t say that I was African…I am black. If you walk up to a true African person and call them Black, they will become offensive. So Black and African are also 2 different races. Next…

ummm 51 u def. have me confused…so you will call kimora asian because her mother is asian but her father is black yet she is not … dumbest thing i’ve ever heard
i need for you to know that biracial is NOT A RACE and BLACK IS DEF. NOT THE SAME THING AS AFRICAN!!!! the black race is a mixture of other races as well as african…so what you’re basically saying is if you’re not of pure african blood, you’re not black?

Shit my baby is darker than some high yellow-blacks…what the hell are some of you people smoking-..get the fuck over yourself- if you ain’t 100% black you ain’t black..
Oh shit–Tyson B ain’t black–he’s granny is half asian.

My opinion about the cover, They all look Gorgeous. To the dummy who complained why Alek Wek is on the cover, because she was and still is a supermodel. I know because I still see her in Fashion shows and in magazine. Iman is the epitome of beauty and grace. Tyra looks nice. Namoi and a couple of others mentioned should have also been on that cover.

My mother side is largely mixed with Native American, my father side who is from the caribbean has indian (not native american) in them. This Shit is RIDICULOUS! I cannot believe that a conversation is truly taking place about how black some is. People used to say if you’re not white - your black! But of course as someone mentioned before, people are coming to time where we embrace all ethnicities.
I guess my confusion comes from people being so belligerent on whether Kimora should be called black or not. What difference does it make to you in the first place? You may not like her, but she’s doing positive things with her life and she a good example to ALL Races of women. Get over your self.

ALL African Americans are biracial, point-blank-period. If any of your ancestors has resided in this country for over 10 generations than you are mixed with either European/Caucasian, Blackfoot/Cherokee/Indian, Dutch, Irish or French decent! Many descendants of slavery married into other races like Creoles and Indians or were either raped.
I bet if some of yall sit down and talk to an elder you many discover you got some other nationality in your bloodline. NO Black person from this country is 100% African.
All it takes is one drop of blood and you are BLACK. Please do not act brand new and hate Kimora or ANY biracial female/male just because one of their parents is non-black. Just because Kimora don’t have so called “Black” features with thick hair and dark skin does not mean she’s not black.
I don’t see anyone disrespecting Beyonce, Derek Jeter, Alica Keys, Amerie, Boris Kodjoe, Grant Hill, Kelis, Naomi Campbell, The Rock aka Dwayne Johnson, Sade or Shemar Moore…they all are mixed with some other race and consider themselves what…Black! Yall better get off my girl. She’s doing something positive with herself while making money…unlike some of the haters here. KEEP DOING YOUR THING LADIES!

I never could stand Common, Un-Educated Negros. Nobody can make your race look bad but yourselves. Kimora is a BLACK women. No if ands or buts about it. If she’s not black than neither is Halle Berry, Alicia Keys, Tiger Woods, Shemar Moore etc. Some of ya’ll even commented on light-skin people not being black enough. What the hell is Black too ya’ll? A nappy headed? or A some dark-skin chick?
Please shut the fuck up and go back to school.
And for those of ya’ll that’s wondering why Naomi and Liya Kebede was not on the cover, it’s because they’re not even in the states. They had back to back work. Tyra looks real awkward on the cover shit as much as she continously states how she been modeling for eva n this n that she should have been FIRECE!!! but she was far from it
Iman looks good for her age but I woulda liked to have saw Beverly Johnson in her place
Alek that’s one beautiful woman she really rocks that natural african look well

Alek Wek is not beautiful, she doesnt represent natural african beauty at all… maybe to u african americans, but not those of us who are pure african outside of the U.S. dont just read black history in america u need to familiarise urself with black history of africans everwhere else. U may learn more about ur roots…
It annoys the hell out me why u have such a thing as Alek Wek to represent african women for those who have know real knowlege of such. Some of you should try to watch african movies, where there actors and actresses represent true Natural African Beauty.

Obviously, you guys have a small knowledge of what it is to be African. First and foremost you guys should know that Africa is a continent with many countries, with a multitude of ethnicities. There are countries like Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Niger, Nigeria, Zaire, Ethiopia and the list goes on. And lets not forget South Africa where there is white descendence over there. You could meet a white person that is more African than we all are. R u gonna walk up to an algerian and say that you are not 100% african bcuz he doesn’t look black?
My point is, nobody should tell to another person what they should consider themselves to be, as long as u know your history and what ethnicities you’re from, it’s all up to you and nobody else to decide with what culture/ethnicity you should identify with ( by the way black is not a race but a culture, cuz there is a lot of people from India that are dark as night and don’t consider themselves black)
If Kimora Lee considers herself to be black, than so be it!! Cuz i know white america sure sees her as a black women. For the comments about our moms being asian or not, no my mom is not asian, but if you in certain countries in Asia like Cambodia or Laos, you will find dark-skninned asians.
For those who say that they should have put Naomi, Beverly or some other models on the cover, did u guys ever consider that they probably wanted to put those models u mentioned but these models have probably decline or just wasn’t able to participate? Sometimes you have to choose the ones that are available and accepts to do the shoots.
The cover looks great, to ALL OF THE BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMEN ON THIS COVER, KEEP ON SHOWIN’ WHAT BLACK BEAUTY IS ALL ABOUT!!!

Actually Kimora was a top model in fashion… she was personally chosen by Karl Lagerfeld to model for Chanel when she was 13 years… and anybody that knows fashion… knows that Chanel is highest, most innovative, and respected brand in high fashion…. and she also modeled for other designers at her time… mostly designers in New York…. and she made millions and was popular in the fashion world before meetin’ Russell Simmons…. so she deserves to be on that cover….

*SMDH* I knew where were going to be ignorant negroes complaining about Alek Wek. I see at least one.
Alek Wek is so beautiful. You know what’s PATHETIC???? African Americans HATED Alek Wek when she first came out. Her hair was too short, she was too black, you name it. Funny because after all this time she is STILL working runways for haute couture and has her own line of high end purses. Tyra, Kimora and Iman are all gorgeous in their own right and very successful but they had to get out the game because of age and so forth. Alek Wek STILL working.
If I had to pick the most beautiful it would be Alek. Because my sister is black, natural and radiates beauty like some kind of black diamond. I love my other sisters on the cover but for me Alek stays timelessly beautiful.

Whites, Asians, Indians and other races look down on us and have made us feel like s**t in history. Now are own black people are turning on each other with stupid comments like “you aren’t fully black if you mix with this that and the other”.
Yet there are more black men in jail and I’m sure some of them are mixed with other races BUT still get classified as black by society, look at how bad the education system is. Please think about the future of our community with black on black violence/killing and the increase of AIDS in the black community is seems that we are doing a fine job of getting rid of our own race.
Other races see us black; doesn’t matter if your dark or light skinned. Stop with this negative vibe about tearing each other down and lets work together to ensure that we become positive people. Black is beautiful in all shades.

Alek Wek is a beautiful woman, she is absolutly cute as a button and anybody who says she is not representative of the many facets of black beauty is in denial. @ 105, please go somewhere with that nonsense.
And why is everyone playing guest editor? Who knows why Naomi is not on the cover, maybe she was busy, maybe she said no…who cares? Some of you’ll always want something to complain about. If they put Naomi on the cover then you’ll would be complaing about her being a former coke head and having anger problems and being a bad role model. Noone can win with the CL crowd sometimes.

Africa is a continent mith many countries and ethnicities , for example Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Niger, Nigeria, Zaire, Ethiopia and the list goes on, lets not forget South Africa witth the wihite descendance which means a person with the white complexion can also be african. R u gonna walk up to an algerian and tell them they’re not 100% african bcuz tthey don’t look black when they’re clearly from Africa?Obviously, u guys have little or no knowledge about Africa.
If u go in certain countries in Asia like Cambodia or Laos u will find a lot of poeple with dark complexion. Also, being black is not a race but a culture/ethnicity, cuz if u go to India you will find people dark as night and they won’t consider themselves black but Indian.
My point is that if Kimmora Lee considers herself black, then so be it! Nobody should tell a person what ethnicity or culture they should identify with just based on their looks. As long as you know your history and what ethnicity you’re from, you have the right to choose to identify with the culture that you want. Nobody is a 100% nothing, we have all been mixed somewhere in our lineage.

Kimora really wasn’t visible to the General public until Russell Simmons, Beverly , Veronica and Liya have been on the cover of major magazines…Kimora modeling career is just a footnote…I think Beyonce and Rhianna have been on the cover of more fashion mags then Kimora. i agree w/#105 about alek. we all know there are MANY beautiful women from her country (and other african countries) but she’s not one of them.she just doesn’t have nice bone structure. it’s like kat deluna and her chubby face, not to be mean. i think it’s funny that gorgeous africans (who are not ethiopian, somalian, or light-skinned) like oluchi, Ajuma Nasenyana (http://supermodels.nl/ajumanasenyana/pictures/1) are continuously put on the backburner. i honesty do believe that white ppl in the industry purposely do this b/c they don’t know what true african beauty is. they just think she looks different so they work with her. personally, i think she’s the ugly and most african models kill her in the looks department
@NY_MAMI umm anyone who knows fashion also knows that lagerfeld was upset at the time because he broke ties with his muse (or maybe it was the other way around). her name was ines Fressange. so he was eager to have another one and he kind of “found” kimora but later said he created a monster. yes, she worked for other people, but she was never a TOP model. it’s like the new girl chanel iman. she’s well-known in the industry but she has yet to become a supermodel. in conclusion, no kimora is not important to the fashion industry and it doesn’t help that baby phat is made fun of in fashion circles. she shouldn’t be on the cover but i guess if liya, naomi, and every other black supermodel was busy…so be it
128.

I also meant to say that I am utterly insulted that NAOMI CAMPBELL was not selected in this round-up of models. HOW DARE THEY!?? Video-ho does not a model makel. Take notes young girls!! A video-hoe is always a video-ho. Don’t believe me, you say?? Show me 1 video that she was in. Haven’t heard of Youtube eeh?? Mek mi tell yuh sumethin. I found videos of Family Ties so I know dern well you can find an old “modeling” video with Kimora Lee Simmons. Wake up folks!!!
As a fellow Jamaican I worship Naomi practically. I think its great we her because she is a jewel, just like the rest of us!!! Hello!
Naomi has a fractured litle girl in there and she acts out because of it. Until she heals, she will continue this path of Cocaine, Whipping White Slaves (although I have envisioned this one being a descendant of Nat Turner). Oops, am I getting off the topic, sorry.
I don’t know if I should buy a copy of Ebony or BOYCOTT!! How disrespectful is that. The hurt of this will certainly send Naomi back into a cocaine stupor. I totally understand.

“@ 92 I agree, but I thought Somalians were mixed with Arabs.”
No they’re not. Their features are purely their own & naturally occurring. Somali, Eritrean and Ethiopian all resemble each other but Somalis are basically 99.9% free of mixing. It’s actually very difficult to tell them apart. In the past anthropologists were ignorant and labeled north-east Africans as black peoples with “Caucasoid” features but the most recent studies/tests show that these features/genetics actually originated first in these peoples and spread out to Europe and the MIddle East.

If anyone reads the subtitles, it states 50 years of fashion(Players, Clothes, and the Industry). It’s not just about models. Kimora, like it or not, is huge reason for Baby Phat’s success. Tyra is huge right now with her tv shows. I’m sure famous models will be inside the magazine. It’s sad that we had to go there about Kimora being black. Wow! What is black? My family is Nigerian. So does that make me pure black? (Shaking my head). Anyway, I love the cover, but wished Tyra was more inclusive in the pic. She looks like she is separate from the rest.

I’m Ghanaian, born in Houston, TX, but both of my parents are Ghanaian. Alek Wek is beautiful imo. When i first saw her, I admit, I wa slike wtf because I was TAUGHT that the way she looks is ugly by my African American peers…She was not light. Her hair did not go down to the middle of her back. It was all ignorance. Now, I see her beauty, though.
As for you telling people to go watch African movies. lmao. wtf. If you haven’t noticed yet, just about every leading actress in those movies looks nothing like what the majority of the people in their country looks like… I mean, seriously….Most of the actresses in the Ghanaian movies I watch have bleached, botched up skin and some of the ugliest weaves imagineable. They are not a true representation of me. I’m an African Queen, thank you very much. They look more like they have some self esteem issues they need to deal with…

First of all, the ladies gracing the cover are beautiful and I LOVE Kimora. I knew someone was gonna say she isn’t black, but YES she is. No one is 100% anything, we’re all mixed with something. It’s all about what you choose to represent, and Kimora reps black people. Although she embraces her Korean/Japanese culture, Kimora IS a black woman 24/7. Besides, this issue is also about models, therefore, Kimora should definitely grace the cover.

The cover is not just about being a black supermodel, it is about being a important business woman also. Kimora has babyphat, Iman has her makeup line, Tyra has her shows, and Alex has a clothing line also. These are the most relevant African American/African women who are doin it right now. Beverly Johnson could have been on there cause of the wigs and weave and stuff but she is not really doin it big right now. Naomi doesn’t do anything but be pretty and bust people in the head. I mean do we REALLY want Naomi Campbell representing us, she is a great model don’t get me wrong but she hasn’t been getting the best press ladies. I think that we should be happy that there are so many beautiful black women to choose from to put on the cover and stop hating so much.

If someone is 1/2 black, 1/2 something else - they’re black??? so what happens to the other half of them…you know the half that helped to MAKE THEM in addition to the black half? that doesn’t count? yeah ok whatever.
i don’t care if they’re “considered black” or people see them as black, it doesn’t change the fact that they’re NOT full black. the one drop rule is bit outdated..genes don’t lie!
anyway, the cover is beautiful! even tho Tyra gets on my nerves…grr…

After actually reading the title I see why they chose Kimora now. I am still sad that my girl Naomi didn’t make the cover. I am happy for the positive influence these wonderful women have made in history. They are certainly doing big and wonderful things and I hope they continue on in their journeys.
I just may buy my first copy of Ebony.

They didnt put Naomi on the cover because they feared she would bring her Blackberry and whoop some a$$ with it. Alek Wek is so gorgeous and deserves to be up there. Tyra seems alittle out of place, and Kimora is just as black as anyone else, but im not a big fan of hers.

Reguardless of her race Kimora is doing the damn thing. Just because you aren’t a 100% black doesn’t mean you’re not black by law being 1/16 makes you black. I’m Jamacian, Creole, Puerto Rican, and Dominician and although my blood line is mostly hispanic. I’m black. Just like my cousin is full Dominician but black because her skin color. I’m just saying you can never tell who’s black.

Ironically #145, Kimora’s mother is a Japanese-Korean woman pretending to be 100% Japanese since being Korean isn’t considered to be as prestigious as being Japanese. Would you want a person with a degree of black heritage to pass as another race if they could because being black isn’t considered to be a good thing?
And #169–There is no one drop rule going on. Many people have responded by saying that “black” is not an ethnicity, it is a race. All the biracial and multi-racial women others have named (Kelis, Alicia Keys, Halle Berry, Amerie, etc) have said they are biracial/multi-racial, but identify as “black”.
And can people please read through? An early poster stated that Naomi and Liya were unavailable to be featured on the cover due to their work schedule. Not to mention that those four are on the cover because the issue is about iconic models who are businesswomen, and Tyra, Kimora, Alek and Iman are EASILY recognizable. The business of the magazine industry caters not to subscribers or to (for fashion issues) fashion-know-it-alls, but to the person standing in line whose eye is caught by the model on the cover. It doesn’t matter how iconic Veronica Webb or Beverly Johnson was–they are not easily recognizable by that shopper who impulsively buys the magazine at the store.

#183 HOTCANDI I agree with you. Am only now starting to wonder about the ages of most of the people posting comments in this space. Really, some comments are so stupid you read them and be like wha!?
A simple article about BLACK ENTREPRENURE MODELS and in no minute it involves surprise, surprise white and black issues, Beyonce (Like I didn´t see this coming) and all kinds of foolishness.
#174 WOWZA is an IDIOT! Thank You #176 KENYANPEBBLES for guiding that blind soul in the right direction.
Africa is a CONTINENT consisting of different COUNTRIES. The different Countries are populated by AFRICANS that are from different TRIBES and RACES. In any given country one can find as many as 42 different tribes wich can be grouped under bigger GROUPS like Cushites, Bantu, Nilotes among others hence the diversity in tribes and yes RACES among Africans.
If one is looking to find a 100% AFRICAN I suggest trying a TIME MACHINE and taking a trip down evolution way back when. You will have better luck on that endevour right there.
You can´t tell the % blackness of a person by:-
1: What Continent they come from
2: What Country they come from
3: Their Skin Color
4. What language they speak etc.
But we do all agree to call ourselves black.
Now lets all stop all this childishness and be happy for these supermodels up here.
Why can´t we all just get along?
Black People Unite!
Africans Unite!
This is why white folks are ever so ahead of us. I would love to hear the day that white folks argue on the net about who´s not white enough coz one is from Germany the other Irish, the other American, the other from South Africa the other being Greek etc.

KIMORA IS NOT BLACK. SHE IS OF MIXED HERITAGE. WHY IS IT THAT WHEN SOMEONE HAS “SOME” BLACK IN THEM THEY ARE CONSIDERED TO BE BLACK. EVEN IF THEY’RE HALF WHITE/ASIAN/LATINO/WHATEVER. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO 1/4 WHITE 1/4 CHINESE 1/4 MEXICAN AND 1/4 BLACK- BUT IN THIS COUNTRY SHE CONSIDERED A BLACK WOMAN. LIKE THAT 1/4 BLACK OVERULES EVERYTHING. HAVING THAT LITTLE BLACK IN HER CONTAMINATES HER SO MUCH THAT IT BECOMES WHAT SHE IS. NO ONE CALLS ALICIA KEYS/ HALLE BERRY/ FAITH EVANS WHITE. WHEN THEY ARE AS MUCH WHITE AS THEY ARE BLACK. JUST A THOUGHT. AMERICAN’S ARE SO OBSESSED WITH COLOR. THE TRUTH IS WE ARE ALL MIXED WITH SOMETHING DOWN THE LINE..YES EVEN ALEK WEK. IT IS PRETTY IGNORANT TO THINK THAT ANYONE IS 100% BLACK EVEN IF THEY ARE DARKSKINNED. I AM A DARK SKINNED WOMAN. MY COUSIN HAS EXTREMELY DARK SKIN AND HER FATHER IS WHITE ( YES IT IS HER REAL FATHER- BELIEVE ME TESTS WERE TAKEN ). EVERYTHING IS EVERYTHING. AS FAR AS I’M CONCERNED. I JUST KNOW IF I HAVE A CHILD WITH A WHITE MAN OR ANYOTHER MAN THAT THEY WILL APPRICIATE EVERY PART OF THEM. BLACK ,WHITE, ASIAN, LATINO, NATIVE AMERICAN IS ALL BEAUTIFUL. WE GOTTA STOP KEEPING OURSELVES IN MENTAL SLAVERY BY HATING OURSELVES. MY PEOPLE ARE WEST AFRICAN UT I ACKNOLEDGE THE FACT THAT- DARK AS I AM- I COULD BE MIXED WITH ANYTHING. OPEN YOUR MINDS.

Another question… why does any of this even matter for real?

Wassup everybody. Believe it or not, I’m actually the person who wrote the upcoming cover story that you’re all talking about. A friend of mine linked me to the discussion, so I figured I’d clear a couple things up.
With regard to the race of the women on the cover, I think it’s unfortunate that given the historic significance of this issue, that’s what some people have chose to focus on. If you look at the coverlines, you’ll see that the issue commemorates the last 50 years of blacks in the fashion industry; that’s a history that started 20 years before I was even a thought and longer than that, I’m guessing, for most people posting here.
Beyond that, it seems like there are a lot of people who are either immature or uninformed as to the difference between race and ethnicity. Race is a broad classification that could include people of various differing nationalities. Black, for example, generically refers to people who are at least partly descendant from Africa. All four women on the cover fit that bill: Kimora was born in St. Louis to an African-American father and Korean mother, Alek Wek is a native of Sudan’s Dinka tribe, Iman is a native Ethiopian and Tyra is an African-American. They all classify themselves at Black, but they clearly have differences, just like there’s a difference between black folks from New York, those from Atlanta and those from Inglewood, Cali.
Lastly, to those concerned with why your favorite model didn’t make the cover: consider that getting just one supermodel is a feat that takes negotiation, coordination of schedules, stylists, wardrobes, etc. Now multiply that by four. Instead of worrying about why Naomi wasn’t on the cover, ask yourself about the logistics of having to interview all four of these women, on the same day, as they were all having their hair and makeup done, with their respective entourages in tow, and having pictures shot. It’s an incredible undertaking. Beyond that, some of the names that were mentioned in the “why not her” comments were reached out to. Schedules conflict. People sometimes say no. It ain’t that serious. Nobody was dissed.
Hope this sheds some light for y’all. Whatever you think, go out and support when the magazine comes out. The story’s tight, if I do say so myself.

I hardly blog unless I feel VERY strongly about something.
the “white man’s world” media has warped the ideals of ethnic people everywhere. There some kind of subconscious mindset that is automatically geared towards straight hair, light skin, slender, delicate features, etc…
therefore there’s all this animosity in not only the black community but in asian and hispanic communities, mainly between what they call F.O.B.S or first generation immigrants and the ones who are more americanized (more into the white ideal).
No wonder we got dark skinned black people and “true africans” fussing at lighter skinned black people and vise-versa. way back when, light skinned black people looked down on the darker ones and even today it’s obvious that to many people, lighter is beautiful. well, THANK THE PAST PEOPLE, because that’s were all this nonsense came from, all of this frustration between races and within them as well.
WHY THE HELL CAN’T WE GET OUR FUCKING ACT TOGETHER?? white people used to be biased towards each other too for the same reasons, but now they’re all cool with each other. there’s no “you’re not ____ enough”, they all just white!
HOW ARE WE GOING TO BEAT DISCRIMINATION FROM OTHER RACES IF WE CAN’T BEAT IT WITHIN OUR OWN RACE?!?!?
I guess I feel a little bit better, but I still know people are going to have negative things to say so whatever. damn this is a long post.

Almost all of this confusion comes from how black people here in America have been, and continue to be mistaught by caucasians. I just find it funny that there are still negroes in 2007 going by the “one drop” or the “1/16″ rule, lol. The caucasian really is the god of this world because negroes still determine who they are based on what they teach. Like the sister; Tammy, touched on in post #102, a person is the seed of their father (Num 1:18, I Chr 23:24, Ezra 2:59, Job 8:8, Prov 17:6, Rom 1:3, etc.). The father determines both the sex of the child and it’s ethnicity/nationality. There is none of that 100%, 50%, 25%, 75% nonsense. For those that say “they don’t believe in the Bible” or “the Bible is ignorant”, do you believe that still using terms like “nilotic” or “1/16″ are enlightening? Lmao. Black people should think about the doctrines that enter into their brains and come out of their mouths because it sounds ridiculous and it shows how destroyed not just black people, but all people are due to the lies they’ve been made to believe are true (Matt 15:17-20). White men sat around a table prior to and during slavery and concocted ways to categorize the different types of black people to cause division and confusion amongst the slaves and determine which states would have the most power based on population and possible voters (Psa 64:2-6, Psa 83:2-5). They continue to do it today in concocting different methods to infiltrate and destroy the black community at their European Union and Bilderberg Commitee meetings. It wouldn’t surprise me if black votes are still counted at only 3/5 the amount of caucasian votes, if they’re counted at all.
The controversy between “nationality” and “ethnicity” is one purposefully caused so that people would associate themselves more with what “country” they’re from more than their racial lineage. To cause confusion, the term “nation” was changed from what race a person was to what land mass they were from or moved into (Prov 22:28). If someone calls themselves an “American”, you don’t know what race they are until you see them. When the Lord gave the caucasians the power to systematically conquer the different races (Dan 4:17, Rev 13:4-8), they renamed the names of the races, their lands, and the different landmarks within those lands (Psa 49:11). Even the caucasian actress Charlize Theron calls herself a “South African”, lol. Here in America, they teach all the races that are here that their own history and culture doesn’t matter and that all they should worry about is uplifting American “ideals”. Keep in mind that Satan rules through confusion (II Thes 2:8-12). In history, nationality and ethnicity were the same thing because all races traced their lineage after their male progenitor. The caucasians know that if they dissuade the other races, particularly black people, from embracing their history or can make them forget it outright, they can then assume the notable people of that race in history and exalt themselves in their movies and television (Job 9:24, Mic 2:1-3). They’ve been able to transform so many people in history who were black into caucasians and get away with it that it’s ridiculous ( i.e. Shakespeare, Beethoven, Christ, etc). Basically, almost every great black person that lived prior to the photograhic age has been made into a caucasian, or damn near to the point where blacks have no knowledge of their history (Isaiah 5:13, Hosea 4:6, Jer 17:4). That’s also why so many sisters comment on some of these threads saying, “how come white people or white women are the standard of beauty…”, so on and so forth. It’s because the caucasians have used their television and print media to establish their IMAGE as the standard (Rev 13:15).

In regards to the difference between blacks and Africans, it has nothing to do with “the white man raping black women”. The Lord is the one that set the difference between our people and the Africans (Ex 11:7, II Ch 14:12, Ezek 30:4-9, Zeph 2:12). The white man did rape many sisters during slavery but he also breeded the slaves like cattle. There were brothers that produced 40-50 children through 6-7 different women. The Africans are the ones that sold us into slavery in concert with the Arabs to white people (Deut 28:68, Joel 3:6,7). You can look at black people and see that we have a totally different spirit, facial structure, and phenotype from the Africans, for the most part. Honestly, and the Africans know this, they don’t like the blacks that were brought here on slaveships and they have as many derogatory names for us as the white man and the other races do (Deut 28:37, Psa 44:13,14). They try to blend in now because it’s popular to associate oneself with being “black” because we’re so influential on pop culture.
The blacks brought here on slave ships are the only race that can gain fame worldwide with the phenomenal talents that the Lord has blessed them with, go to any country or continent, and be worshipped as god-like figures (Psa 82:6, Zeph 3:19, John 10:34,35). A naysayer will say that the white celebrities can do it, but once again, they have the TV and movie images to promote themselves. Blacks have become icons DESPITE the coverage in the media due to us being the Lord’s chosen. No other race could overcome the systematic obstacles that have been consistently put in front of blacks. If we’re the same as the Africans, then the Africans should be even more influential than the blacks of the captivity because they still have their language, culture, and religions.
As a matter of fact, black people are pop culture and entertainment. The young black man and woman of the captivity is the most precious natural resource on the face of the earth, by far (Lam 4:1,2). Far more valuable than gold, silver, or diamonds combined (Isa 43:3,4). When you have a race of people; the blacks of the captivity, that spend 700 billion dollars per year ( the no.1 consuming race), will sell the illegal drugs that the government imports, basically single-handedly sustain the entertainment industry, will feed the multi-billion dollar prison industrial complex, will kill each other thus taking attention off of the deeper source of the corruption, and then on top of that, join your army and win wars for this land, and yet only control 0.05% of the American economy, what more can you ask for? You have something even better than slaves, you have zombies. Slaves might rebel, zombies will not.

@ 213 dayaum…!!British isnt a race its a f****** nationality, know the difference between race, ethnicity and nationality before you come up on here.
Yes your daughter is part of the black race, but her ethnicity is MIXED and finally her nationality is American. Who give a damn about the FYI?
I agree with whoever said African americans need to remove the African from ‘African american’.
It will help to remove the segregation that you people have between the whites of America and will also clear up the confusion, because in reality many of you are far removed from African roots considering that alot of you have so many races mixed in DNA that if you would have to go hundreads of years back to see true African genes. Im not being rude here or trying to say that Africa isnt apart of your history( because it is) but due to centuries of race mixing black people in America and black people in Africa probably share such a small percentage of the same DNA that they are a not African ( if this makes sense) and the way you mix up race ethnicty and nationality in the language you use( which cannot be helped), some like Kimora causes confusion because you compare Kimora who is half black to someone who is African (Alek Wek) and say that they are not he same, they are the same race( black) but not they have different ethnicity and even moreso different nationalities (Kimora is American, Alek Wek is African).
Do u understand!!!????……..
Let me give you another example…
Naomi is black( race), ethnicity: jamaican, chinese etc. Natonality:British !!
I do realise however that the english language causes great confusuion when we talk about people of the world.
For example, ‘Race’ is classified in to the following black, white hispanic Asian etc..
Do u realise that black and white really describe general skin tone whilst hispanic and asian describe ethnicities. It wold make sense if it was: Black White Yellow, etc… but then wait it just gets even more confusing because several black people or those of other races could just as easily fit into these catergories. Can u see what im getting at? Society has constructed language that makes it difficult to describe what it is we really mean..think about it…it’s jus the way it it is.. because we have need a system of catergorising peole as simply as possible. If we didnt we would have just as many races as we have people that would be ridiculous.
Could you imagine the amount of paperwork there would be whenever you filled a form.
Even if God made us all the same colour society would have made up a way of telling us apart. That why we have names so our lives can be seperated from anothers life.. Anyway let me go now this is turning into some philosophy type essay…
All of those women up on there deserve to be on there because they are part of the BLACK race, and are all sucessful… The others that didnt make it have already had their absences explained by the editor above so thats pretty straightforward.
As I stated earllier Alek Wek doesnt exemplify natural African beauty…maybe natural Sudanese beauty because she was born in Sudan… the same can be said for all of them up there. They represent themselves…

#216 Judah says:’ The young black man and woman of the captivity is the most precious natural resource on the face of the earth, by far (Lam 4:1,2). Far more valuable than gold, silver, or diamonds combined….’
No race is superior to any other in this world are you quoting from the same bible that says ‘all man was created equal’ it’s over analytical, self righteous so called ‘religious’ fanatics like you that breed and falsely justify the racist mindset.
Take away the ‘black’ from that sentence and you should find it makes more sense to you and everybody else
Ive seen many of ur ridiculous posts on here before but never had the time or energy to respond to you outrageous comments. Are you a pastor or training to be one? #’s 203-EBZ01, 209- AYCH, 217- KENYANPEBBLES, 218/219- TBERRY & 222 MOCHA BUTTERFLY.
I AGREE WITH YOU ALL WHOLE HEARTEDLY.
I WAS CONFUSED IN MY EARLIER POSTS AS TO WHAT QUALIFIES AS ‘BLACK’. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE ONE DROP/ 1/16 THEORY. I’M A DARK SKINNED 2ND GENERATION AFRICAN IMMIGRANT FROM THE UK. I’VE LIVED IN THE US FOR 2 YEARS AND THIS HAD NEVER COME UP TIL I MOVED OUT HERE. MOST OF MY BI-RACIAL FRIENDS PREFER TO BE CONSIDERED JUST THAT- BI RACIAL. BECAUSE THEY FEEL THAT THEY EQUALLY BELONG TO EVERY RACE THAT COMPLETES THEM. I BELIEVE PEOPLE SHOULD IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS WHATEVER MAKES THEM HAPPY. I HAVE NO COMPLEX ABOUT WHAT I AM. IT WAS ONLY WHEN I CAME TO THAT STATES THAT I WAS BOMBARDED WITH COMENTS LIKE ‘YOU’RE REAL PRETTY FOR A DARK SKINNED GIRL’… I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW I WAS CONSIDERED DARK!LOL. BUT FOR REAL PEOPLE POST ON CONCRETE LOOP FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT TAKE ON THINGS DEPENDING ON WHERE THEY’RE FROM. AND FROM MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE IN THE UK BI RACIAL PEOPLE ARE CALLED BI RACIAL. SIMPLE AS THAT. BECAUSE THE VAST MAJORITY OF BI RACIAL OR LIGHTSKINNED PEOPLE IN THE UK ( INCLUDING MY NIECES AND NEPHEWS) ARE MIXED WITH BLACK AND WHITE. WE CALL BLACK PEOPLE BLACK. BUT IT’S GENERALLY NARROWED DOWN TO WHERE PEOPLE ARE FROM EG- JAMAICAN/ NIGERIAN/ ETHIOPIAN.
I RECENTLY WATCHED A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT BIRACIAL TWINS WHERE ONE OF THE TWINS IS BLACK AND THE OTHER IS WHITE. THIS ISN’T AS UNCOMMON AS YOU THINK. I FEW YEARS AGO IN THE UK A YOUNG ‘BLACK’ COUPLE ( BOTH HAD WHITE MOTHERS AND BLACK FATHERS ) HAD TWIN GIRLS. ONE WAS WHOTE WITH BLONDE HAIR AND BLUE EYES THE OTHER WAS DARKER THAN BOTH OF THEM. MY CURIOSITY WAS WHAT WOULD THE ‘WHITE’ TWIN IDENTIFY HERSELF AS WHEN SHE GETS OLDER? CONSIDERING BOTH HER PARENTS AND TWIN SISTER ARE ‘BLACK’.
AND THAT WAS REALLY MY QUESTION. HOW DO PEOPLE IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS BLACK. TO ME BLACK AND WHITE ARE JUST COLORS. I DONT KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE BLATANTLY BI-RACIAL ( EVEN THOUGH EVERYONE TRULY IS ).
I DONT MEAN TO OFFEND ANYONE BY THIS POST I AM GENUINLY INTERESTED IN PEOPLES OPINIONS.
@ #199- ‘COONS WITH A COMPLEX ARE DESTROYING BLACK AMERICA’
YOU RESPONSE TO MY POST CAME ACROSS AS IGNORANT. I WAS SIMPLY ASKING A QUESTION. YOU CAME AT ME WITH AGRESSION AND PROFANITY. THIS IS AN OPEN BLOG, SO I RESPECT YOUR RIGHT TO SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT TO SAY. JUST- RELAX. IT REALLY ISN’T BIG OF YOU TO COME ON HERE AND DISRESPECT PEOPLE. BUT I HOPE YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF AND HAVE A WONDERFUL BLESSED DAY.

WHEW!
GOD SAVE AMERICA!
MIND SLAVERY IS STILL ALIVE AND KICKING. IN AMERICA! THE ONLY PLACE IN THE WORLD WHERE THE BLACK MAN IS STILL NOT AT PEACE WITH HIS SOUL. MASAA TRULY DID HIS JOB THOROUGH WORKING YOU ALL UP.
2007 AND THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN IS STILL RUNNING AROUND LIKE LOST SHEEP WITH NO SHEPHERED TO GUIDE THEM TO THEIR SOULS “HOME”
IN SOUTH AMERICA THE BLACKS STILL PRESERVE AND HOLD THEIR CULTURE AND ROOTS HIGH AND BEAR IT WITH PRIDE.
IN THE CARIBEANS THE BLACK MAN DOES THE SAME (MAJORITY)
IN EUROPE, BLACK PEOPLE DON´T EVEN USE NATIONALITIES ANY MORE TO INTRODUCE THEMSELVES. TO THEM THEY ARE SIMPLY “AFRICANS”
IN AFRICA THEY MINGLE AND CO-INHABIT WITH EACH OTHER AT A FASTER RATE THAN IN THE PAST THAT A UNITED AFRICA IS SOON “INEVITABLE”
THEN THERE IS AMERICA………….THE ONE PLACE WHERE THE BLACK MAN THINKS HE HOLDS THE LAST SAY AND IS THE TRUE REPRESANTATION OF ALL THAT IS BLACK AND AFRICAN.
THEN THERE IS AMERICA………THE ONE PLACE WHERE THE BLACK MAN EVEN THOUGH HE FEARS AND IS ASHAMED OF HIS BLACKNESS THINKS HE HAS THE RIGHT TO EVALUATE WHO HAS THE RIGHT TO WEAR THE “BLACK” BADGE OF HONOUR.
THEN THERE IS AMERICA……..THE ONE PLACE THAT THINKS IT´S THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS SUFFERED MASSIVE BRUTALIZATION IN THE HANDS OF THE WHITE MAN AND THEREFORE ANY OTHER BLACK PERSON IN ANY OTHER PART OF THE WORLD CAN´T FATHOM THEIR PAIN AND THUS THEIR OPINION IN ALL THAT IS BLACK AND “BLACK SUFFERING” DOESN´T MATTER.
THEN THERE IS AMERICA……..THE ONE PLACE THAT HASN´T LEARNT TO LET GO. TO LIVE AND LET LIVE. ERASE THE “THEMS” AND “US”, THUS FURTHER SUBDIVIDING THE “US” BY THE WHITE MANS SCALE OF LIGHT AND DARK SKINNED.
THEN THERE IS AMERICA WHERE ONE IS BRAINWASHED TO BELIEVE THIS AS POSTED BY A TRUE MASAA BRAINWASHED GOON LIKE #216 JUDE
“The blacks brought here on slave ships are the only race that can gain fame worldwide with the phenomenal talents that the Lord has blessed them with, go to any country or continent, and be worshipped as god-like figures”
SO THE WHITE MAN PIMPS YOU IN THE REAR HOLE WITH TRICKS LIKE “BLINGS”…..BLOOD DIAMONDS, FAME AND POPULARITY BY PIMPING YOUR OWN WOMEN TO THE REST OF THE WORLD…..MASAA IS “RAPING THEM AGAIN” AND YOU ARE PROUD OF THE REWARDS.
BLACK EXPLOITATION IS STILL RUNNING RAMPAT AND MOST OF THE PEOPLE ARE PROUD TO BEAR IT LIKE IT WAS PRADA AND GUCCI.
AM HAPPY WHENEVER AM IN JAMAICA AND SEE MOST PEOPLE DEFIANT TO AMERICANIZATION.
AM HAPPY WHEN IN BRAZIL AND CUBA AND STILL SEE ALOTTA AFRICAN CULTURE AND BELIEFS UPHEAVED SURPRISINGLY EVEN BY THE WHITES.
AM HAPPY WHEN IN AFRICA AND SEE ALL THE BEAUTIFUL CULTURES, THE CLOTHES, MUSIC, LIFESTYLE, SITTING ON THE VERANDER WITH THE ELDERS AND HAVING FOLKLORES TRANSLATED TO ME.
LORD KNOWS I “CRINGE” EVERYTIME I SEE A BRAINWASHED AMERICAN WANNABE GOON PASS MY WAY WITH HIS/HER IGNORANCE.
BUT MOSTLY AM HAPPY THAT ALOTTA AFRICANS IN AFRICA ARE STARTING TO EMBRACE AND BE PROUD OF THEMSELVES, AND ARE PROUD TO SPEAK THEIR OWN LANGUAGE WHICH WAS MORE OF A “HOOD” THING IN THE PAST.
AM PROUD TO COME TO EUROPE AND SEE NOT ONLY BLACKS BUT WHITES STARTING TO EMBRACE AFRICAN CULTURES,
IT´S SAFE TO SAY THET EUROPE IS ONE OF THE FEW PARTS OF THE WORLD WHERE A WHITE MAN / WOMAN CAN BE AFRICAN WITHOUT GETTING A BEAT DOWN.
I ONLY PRAY THAT AFRICAN- AMERICANS FIND THEMSELVES SOON.
MARTIN LUTHER KING DREAMT AND FOUGHT FOR IT.
MALCOM X DID THE SAME.
MARCUS GARVEY WARNED US TO BE UNITED AND ORGANISED FOR IT IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN BE KINGS IN OUR OWN RIGHTS. DIVIDED WE FALL.
NELSON MANDELA GAVE UP HIS FREEDOM FOR HIS PEOPLE (ALL SOUTH AFRICANS NOT ONLY HIS TRIBE)
THE MAUMAU WARRIORS FOUGHT AND DIED FOR NOT ONLY THE KIKUYUS BUT KENYANS AS A WHOLE.
I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT AFRICAN FREEDOM FIGHTERS FROM ALL PARTS OF THE WORLD TIL TOMMOROW BUT IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH.
ALL THE TRUE WARRIORS ARE GONE. BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOW WALKING BLIND BEING FOOLED AND TRICKED WITH MONEY AND FAME ALL THE WHILE WE ARE SLOWLY BEING EXTINGUISHED . WE ARE A DYING “PEOPLE” WE AIN´T EVEN PUTTING UP A FIGHT.
HELL, WE ARE OUR OWN ENEMIES NOW.
IS THIS WHAT IT HAS COME TOO?
I CAN SEE WHY BEING WHITE WOULD SEEM LIKE AN ATTRACTIVE OPTION RIGHT NOW.
BUT WILL I GIVE UP? NO!
I REFUSE TO HATE ON OTHER BLACK PEOPLE!
I REFUSE TO LET OTHER PEOPLES IGNORANCE PREVENT ME FROM WALKING BLACK AND PROUD.
I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE LESSER AND HIGHER BLACK PEOPLE!
I REFUSE TO GIVE UP THE FIGHT COZ I KNOW SOON THERE SHALL COME A BLACK LEADER TO GUIDE US INTO THE LIGHT ONCE AGAIN.
I KNOW THAT SOON THE WORLD WILL HAVE ENOUGH OF THIS SO CALLED “BLACK PIMPING” “BLACK SEGRAGATION” FOR YOU CAN ONLY RUN AWAY FROM YOURSELF FOR SO LONG BEFORE IT CATCHES UP TO YOU.
BLACK PEOPLE IN AMERICA, WHY DO YOU HAVE SO MUCH HATE AMONG YOURSELVES?
ISN´T ENOUGH THAT THE REST OF THE WORLD LOOKS DOWN ON US? DO WE HAVE TO BEAT OURSELVES DOWN TOO?
WHY DO WE HAVE SO MUCH RACE AND COLOR ISSUES IN AMERICA AMONG THE BLACK COMMUNITY? WHY?
WHY?
WHY?
SOMEBODY GET TO THE BOTTOM LINE OF THIS PLEAZE!

wow, I was curious to see how this discussion is going. All I can say is their past was ruled by actions in their present, and our future will be ruled by our actions in our present.
As a mother who is Asian married to a man who is Black, we will teach our child about both his Asian and Black-African-American heritage. I don’t see him as only Black, and I hope that he doesn’t see himself as only Black. He is both, but that doesn’t make him not one race or the other. He is BOTH, Black and Asian- just look at his parents(both mom and dad)- it’s in his blood.
Do you really need to be quoted text from the bible or a book to understand that? Is it that hard to comprehend that if you are of mixed race then you are made of those races? I’m trying to see this from the other side of the argument and I can’t. If Kimora says she’s Asian then what I can’t say about it, of course she’s Asian. Her proof is in her blood lineage. If you are mixed with French, Creole, Jamaican, African, etc. Then you are made of ALL those races. You are French, Creole, Jamaican, African, etc. It’s just that simple, you don’t have to get techinical. If it’s more complicated than that to you, then it’s because you make it that way.

everyone looks nice. however, tyra is not positioned properly. everyone is close together except her. she’s off to the side as is if she’s not with the rest of the group. the photographer should’ve positioned them better.
i think they should have referred to them as colored women. the word colored basically refers to everyone who is not caucasian, such as african-americans, latinos, hispanics, etc. kimora should not be excluded because she is half black, however her overall look is asian. so most people would not relate her to being black. as a matter of fact, most people wouldn’t even know she was black if they weren’t told so. so the word colored would have been a better choice. as far as african-americans are concerned, i think we should go back to calling ourselves colored. we have color unlike caucasions who do not have color. however, we are not black. we are different shades of brown. black is a word related to evil and darkness. while white has been a word related to being pure. i.e. angel’s food cake is white, and devil’s food cake is black, black market meaning illegal market, etc. that’s why white people have referred to us as black b/c they want to refer to us as something that is related with negativity. we don’t refer to latino’s as orange or indian’s as red when we fill out information on standardized test and other documents. so why should we call ourselve’s black when we are not black? we are so many different beautiful shades of COLOR.

#138, Hi Tammy, if he chooses to put a race down, I’m hoping that he’ll write in that he’s Black/Asian. That’s how I fill out his paperwork now, when he was a newborn I had to take him in for some blood work. I wrote in Black/Asian because I wanted to make sure that when they looks at his blood result that they knew he is both. On a medical level- there are some diseases that are more prevalent within the different races. On top of that, he is both.
So as a mother, I want him to embrace both mine and his father’s culture. Not to see himself as just one or the other but that he is both.

My mom is white and my dad is black. You can tell that I have a white parent, but when I look in the mirror I see a black woman that goes out into the world and is treated as such! I am very much into black culture and I can’t see my life otherwise.
White and Asian mothers are doing their kids a disservice by having them carring on with this mixed B.S. My mom is still white and I love her, but the reality is that I am black and she can’t change that.
I am not choosing to be black over white because I am not white. My mom understands that and has no problem with it.
I have a friend and a friend of a friend who are biracial and they look white. They don’t go around blacting that they have a black parent, so why does my identifying with my blackness should mean that I am denying my white parent?
Also I find that black people are too preoccupied with color. Let us work on getting together and solving the problems in our community and in Africa.
A lot of African Americans feel that they are black and Africans. But there is a Diaspora out there of black poeple.. From India, Australia, the Caribbean, South America, etc.. Blackness is not how kinky your hair is or how dark you.. It takes strength to be black - to be that which everyone hates, and still survive!! I am my brother’s keeper and always will be!

@241- You can’t say that parents are doing their kids a disservice about this “mix BS”. I would be doing him a disservice to only teach him 1 race. My job as a mother is to teach my child everything I can to prepare him for life. When he becomes old enough he will learn to make his own decision and be prepare to handle the situations that he’ll face himself, I hope that I did my job by teaching him ways to help make those decisions.
Let’s say I forget that I’m Asian and only have him embrace the Black culture.
He will never know the struggles that his mom’s family went through to leave a country during a war to get to the US. He could learn about the Khmer Rouge through books but he’ll never know how that story is part of his story. He’ll never hear his granparents tell him about how they had to walk through fields of dead bodied carrying his mom and uncle on their back. That during this walk you only steps on the areas where the dead bodies are because you knew that the land mines have already blown there.
On a brighter side, he won’t know what the Harvest Moon Festival is and won’t know all the different kinds of food that are cooked for this festival. Or that when I was a kid in the Fall; instead of Halloween- I looked forward to Harvest Moon.
That is just a snippet of my life story that I will share with him so that he understands where his mom came from and why I am who I am.
We will also teach him that he’s from a family of Share Croppers/Slaves. We can trace his dad’s side to slavary. Books will teach him what slavery is and what is did to people but he’ll know first hand how slavery impacted his family and made them stronger. The choice his great/gg/ggg/gggg-grandparents made, what they had to face and what bigotry is.
So you see the mixed BS isn’t so BS when you start to think about it in regards to your family’s makeup. I want my son to know that we work hard for everything we have and that he’s from a family of resilent and strong people.

WHY you may ask? I believe you spoke the answer: Not willing to let go.
Not willing to let go of the past of Slavery, not willing to let go of the self-hatred that was fed into Black people by American Society and ourselves, not willing to forgive and let God take the wheel of life. WE ARE OUR OWN WORSE ENEMY. We are so cruel and disrespectful to one another that it is disturbing. This is nothing but the devil.
And the sad part is that some of us don’t know the damage we are doing to ourselves. This comes from pure ignorance and lack of self respect in some people. We should be happy and praising God that this young lady Kimora is doing something positive with her life. But instead, few disapprove of her for her ethnic race…some people you can never please.

This is crazy. I knew there would be some race wars going on when I saw Kimora on the cover. I guess I have to speak on this now. Um, she is half black and read some books so some of you can learn that children DO take race after their father. Naomi and Tyson are of Asian decent. Biracial is NOT a race, it is more of a color thing and I don’t even feed into that crazy hype. It’s not cool to make people of mixed race feel like they should come up with their own heritage. I agree with everyone who said we most of us are not 100% of anything. Also, Naomi’s attitude is pretty bad and I don’t care what she has done for the fashion world, she did not deserve to be on the cover. One last question, WHY does any of this stuff matter. All we had to do was comment on the magazine and then here comes the slavery stuff. Stop it with that slavery talk, you were NOT a slave and it is not important anymore. Get over it. I would also like to support the educated people speaking on this. I tried to let it go, but some people need to start paying attention to history and in school; BIOLOGY to be exact. But I still give much love to everyone. Don’t get your panties in a bunch if you are one of the ignorant. It’s only a post LOL

why is it so bad to say bi-racial? who cares if a person chooses to identify with both groups instead of just one? more power to the bi-racial kids who choose to identify with one side. who cares…. it’s more of a personal choice and we can’t force anyone into a category. if kimora considers herself black why do you care? if she wants to be cablasian like tiger woods then that’s her business. people get so caught up in categories instead of just being happy that we are all different but still people. the outside doesn’t define the inside. it’s just a shell. get over it….

so i have mental issues bec I pointed out the truth based on FACT. You are born of two races, isnt that a fact. I was not trying to be combative with you just stating the fact. I dont see how a biracial person is black or white or one category (this is the case only based on the one drop rule designed whites). It makes sense to me that they embrace all of their races and ethnicities. Halley Berry is not black anymore than Mariah Carey is white. Neither are black or white but BOTH. Kimora is not black, FACT. Kimora is multiracial, FACT. Therefore she shouldnt have been on the cover as inspirational black women.

oskana–so are you saying that mix people have to wait for someone to write a story on multi-racial moguls for Kimora to be on the cover? If the story was about successful Asian business woman that Kimora shouldn’t be considered either because she’s not Asian?
I mean really, this doesn’t have to get into political correctness and all that jive. It’s just a matter of what it is. She is BLACK and she is ASIAN.
ok, I’m done. It’s safe to say that many of us should just agree to disagree.

Yes mix people should have to wait, blacks have waited so why not them. Should she be considered on the cover of Asian magazine? maybe, well I am not asian so i dunno about that one. That depends on how the asian community feels about having a black-asian woman representing them. I suspect though they would prefer seeing an asian woman represent another asian woman not a biracial woman representing asian women. I am a black woman and I would prefer to see black women on the cover representing other black women not mix/biracial women representing black women, btw which white media has already bombarded us with.
yes i will agree to disagree.

The reason why Tyra, Kimora, Iman, and Alek are on the cover is because they are major business women in the fashion world. That’s why Naomi and Liya are not on the cover. Each of these women have MAJOR, successful fashion-oriented businesses.
Naomi and Liya do not have fashion-oriented businesses. Naomi has a purfume and she has a successful marketing/event planning company and Liya has her contracts, but these ladies on the cover are “movers and shakers” in the industry.
All you have to do is read the full caption under the picture and it tells you.
And Kimora is half Black/half Korean. She always calls herself and identifies herself as Black. And she was a highly successful haute coulture model. She has done tons of Chanel runway shows and was a favorite of Karl Lagerfield, who praised her “Afro-Asiatic” beauty as he called it.
I think the cover looks great!

i dont understand how people can say kimora is Black. when shes not black beause shes made by two people who were black and asian. this makes kimora half black and half asian.
im not a hater and i love kimora (always sporting baby phat) but her being mixed race, bi-racial what ever you wonna call it is true.
Alot of people didnt even know she was half black including the media, alot of people only found out because she said the N word on camera on at a fashion magazine and everyone was calling her a racist. then she said she was half black.

I think we know that the person maybe “biracial” but we just they are Black. Just like some Asians and Korean Americans will say that Kimora is Asian.
It’s just wording. Lots of biracial black people have made strides and great acheivements in our culture. Lena Horne, Eartha Kitt, Jasmine Guy, Shekara Ledard, Shemar Moore, Cassie, Amerie, Lenny Kravitz, Tracy Ellis Ross, Melanie B., Halle Berry, W.E.B DuBois, Chili, Salli Richardson, Mario Van Peebles, Barack Obama, Naomie Lenoir, Giancarlo Esposito, James Blake, Fredrick Douglass; all of these people are biracial and calls themselves (or called themselves) Black all the time, but we know they are biracial and they know and acknowledge that they are biracial. And they represent us in their chosen professions and chooses to identify with being Black.
What’s the big deal? We used to not have a problem with this issue. As long as they were part-Black, they were fine. Now, for some reason, we are getting up in arms.
We are all Black. Part of the African Diaspora. Let’s embrace the cover and send congrats on their acheivements. Because being a Black model in the Fashion industry is not easy!

SOME OF THE COMMENTS ON THIS BOARD ARE SO FUCKING REDICULOUS! FIRST OF ALL, IF YOU GO TO EBONY’S WEBSITE THEY SAY THAT THEY WANTED THE TOP MODELS WHO ARE ALSO MOGULS ON THE COVER! THAT IS WHY EACH ONE OF THEM WERE PICKED. THEY ARE ALL TOP MODELS THAT ALSO HAVE OTHER HUGE BUSINESSES! NAOMI DOESN’T HAVE A HUGE BUSINESS AND THAT IS WHY SHE DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT! KIMORA WAS THE FACE OF CHANEL AT THE AGE OF 14 AND WALKED FOR MANY FASHION HOUSES BEFORE AMERICA EVEN KNEW WHO SHE WAS! SHE HAD HER OWN MONEY AND TO ALSO BE HONEST, RUSSELL DIDN’T GIVE HER ANYTHING. HE HAS SAID IN INTERVIEWS THAT SHE FIRST STARTED OFF AS THE FASHION ADVISER FOR PHAT FARM AND BECAUSE HER INFLUENCE LED TO THE COMPANY BECOMING EVEN BIGGER, THAT IS WHY SHE FORMED BABY PHAT! RUSSELL HAD AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HER COMPANY THAT IS ALL HER! HERE IS THE VID AND IF IT DOESN’T PLAY, JUST GO TO http://WWW.ebonyjet.com.

——————————————————————————————————————–
The big deal is we took the whole one drop rule for granted and we shouldnt have. This drop rule was designed by whites and we accepted it. We screwed ourselves up in the process with categories such that anyone with a drop of afro blood then they are black, NOT. Biracial people are just that biracial not one thing or the other but multiples. Another big deal is the fact that whites will often elevate those who are biracial and putting them in black categories rather than elevating those are one category black. Hence they get preferential treatment, hence they are not black or “better versions” of black. Ofcourse colorism is also at play but thats another story. Yes lots of biracial people have chosen to identify themselves in a mono category, this social identity not biological obviously, however this was in many situations forced upon them to “choose” because white society can not handle such complications. So thats the big deal.

Why do you have a problem with it?
If the dominant gene is black and the person is black what is it your business? You are a champion for biracial folks now?
Mind your business! I am black, it has nothing to do with who I chose.. That is just the way it is.. If you have a problem, go on a biracial site and mingle with other confused people..

Yeah but some people would argue that some of these “biracial” people are Black, because of biology. I mean there are various theories on this subject but what it comes down to is this, they are part-Black, they are half Black. They are not colors. This is not a Crayola factory.
Regardless of what a person may choose to “call” themselves, it’s what you feel you are the most connected to, on the inside. Kimora embraces her African American identity, so let’s celebrate her along with the other fab ladies on the cover.
It seems that when a biracial person claims or say they Black, sometimes we may say, we question their “blackness”. But then if a biracial person say there not Black and they are half-Black, then we are up in arms.
Since we got these people choosing to identify with their Black racial heritage completely, again, that’s why I say what’s the big deal?

Blacks are more accepting than any other race when it comes to things like this. But when you lie and put down the black race but still try to use blacks to sell things then ther’s a problem. Karl Lagerfeld and Russell Simmons and so many others “dropped” her ass because she is a bitch. I don’t see people who wear “Baby Phat”. Kimora only wears her “tacky creations” when she wants to promote that “mess”. She lies about everything and who she is. Before Russell, Kimora was a Prision Guard in Missouri do your research on her! She spent all her “Modeling” money on “vanity”. I don’t understand why she is even on the cover of this magazine!

————————————————————-
looks like no matter how you cut it they are all black…
Also,
After reading more of these posts, I think I understand the reason for the differing view’s over “who’s black enough” it boils down to preferential treatments. Mix blacks(lighter blacks) are seen as the preferred group over people who see themselves as 100%black (darker coloring). Which goes back to the light skin/dark skin debate that always pops up. I’ve been reading CL for a while now, even before I started posting and the different shades always comes up. It’s probably not so much that the person is mixed but that most mix kids are light skin. A person like Tyson/Naomi/Kelis doesn’t get put in the same category as Halle/Kimora/Mariah because even though they are bi-racial/multi-racial they “look” black.
I know a child about 8 yrs old, who looks like she’s mix, her hair color is honey brown, eyes are hazel, and skin is high yellow but she’s not. Her mom and dad are both darker complexion- like Kelly Rowland’s shade. But parents have albino great-grandparents, which explain why the baby has the coloring that she has even though her parents are darker. Add that as another caveat into your discussion.
Why should you play into that trap, it’s a trap that every race faces. Fair Asians are seen by the media outlets as the preferred group of people, if your darker you’re not as pretty/”good” not matter who you are. Every race is mix, that’s been said before too, just like most Blacks are mixed, so are whites, asians, latinos, middle eastern. Even if they aren’t mix 10 generations back, they are geography wise. I don’t need a geneologist/anthropologist/biologist/seimotologist(I know this one can’t be right–but the people who studies earthquakes and faults lines), to tell me that at 1 time we were 1 land mass, which explains why in every race you see simliarities. Not all white people have small noses, they get their nose fixed. Not all Asian’s have double eyelids, they get that fixed, not all middle esterns have green/blue eyes, they wear color contacts. BUT there are people in all those races who have all those features, there are Africans and Asian who swears they aren’t mix but have color pupils.
I mean, my son had blue eyes until he was about 6 mos, and there’s no way. One of my girlfriends told me that her daughter had blues eyes too until she was about a yr old and both her and her then fiance are darker skin blacks. It just tells me that we all have similarities and people 70/90 yrs ago didn’t want to see that because they were egocentric and saw themselves as better. Not to put this on Whites- Europeans- but for some reason they though that the Bible was their card to go out and conquer/kill/enslave people according to their Bible. I don’t take the Bible literally because it’s been translated many times over by MEN (Europeans) and the version that most of us use was translated from Latin. I take it as a book of stories, Jesus story is perfect for the plight of the African slaves, Jesus was crucified because the Romans feared him. African slaves were crucified also because (some) people feared them and who they are, same goes for Native Americans. The lesson hearned here is that fear is powerful and (some) people will do anything to “kill” what they fear. That’s where racism comes from, they fear what they don’t know and don’t want to know, they only think to destroy. If we break their spirits then we don’t have to fear them.
Kids mixed with Black are Black, to tell them that they aren’t Black enough and will never be Black is essentially trying to break their spirits. You aren’t one of us, don’t try to be one of us- your’e not a purebreed like us and will never be.
I know I wrote a lot and there’s probably a bunch of grammatical and spelling errors..also I probably went on a couple of tangents but I hope it’s coherent.

Where does the Bible say that “all men were created equal”? Lmao, you’re a complete idiot. That bullshit is from the Declaration of Independence. It’s good that you’ve never had the “time or energy” to respond because you would’ve exposed your stupidity alot sooner. I can’t stop laughing, straight up. Ya stupid ass quoted the Declaration of Independence (written while blacks were in the cottonfield) and attributed it to the Bible. The Bible says in numerous verses that the Lord has a chosen people above all people (Exodus 19:5,6, Deut 7:6, II Chronicles 17:21-24, Matt 10:5,6, etc.). You probably too stupid to read that, lol. You made my day homie.
@234
If you have a problem with me sis, then address me like an adult. The Bible is above your level of comprehension so you need to take a woman’s word for the Lord’s Word. You’re just offended by me because you don’t know what you’re talking about. Now listen to what you said, “you don’t need the Bible to preach the Word…” Lol, you sound stupid as hell. That’s like saying, “you don’t need to go to law school to be a lawyer.” If you’re not going to quote from the Bible to talk about God, then you’re talking about god, just not the God of the Bible. By the way, no one can “wipe me out”, lol.

#289 even if Naomi for example is of Asian decent. At the end of the day when I see her I see a BLACK women. The cover of Ebony reads: Top BLACK model. The only person that looks out of place to me is KIMORA becasue at the end of the day it does not matter that one of her parents is black, she still looks like something other than BLACK. Just becasue you have 10%, 15%,25% or 50% black blood in you it know means you are BLACK? Since many have stated that it is least likely that you would find anyone who is not of mixed race, when I am walking down the street no one looks at me and says hey check out the black female with a drop of jewish blood, what they see is a BLACK female and at the end of the day that is what I am and PROUD of it. Ebony made an error in judgement if you are going to run am issue that reads BLACK MODEL then they by right should have models who are actually BLACK and look BLACK. Naomi Campbell 1st black female to grace the cover of Vogue, if I am not correct, Beverly Johnson, Beverly Peale. What about them. Those are women I relate to becasue when I see them I see ME, not KIMORA.

“Prior to the period that I’m referring to (14th & 15th century) the people of the world were not referred to by their color. Therefore, the concept of a white people is a creation; the same is true of black people, of yellow people and brown people. The concept of race that now plague the world is an artificial European invention. Professor Ashley Mortagu has referred to it as man’s great myth. While the word race and the concepts around it are aritificial, the effects of its creation are real. The application of this concept has affected the lives of most of the people of the world.” Excerpt from Yurugu Introduction by John Henry Clarke

I GREW UP IN A FAMILY WHERE MY DAD LOOKS BLACK, HE IS BROWN SKINNED, HE ALWAYS BRAGGED ABOUT HIS DAD BEING LIGHT WITH RED HAIR AND BEING PART CUBAN, HE ALWAYS BRAGGED ABOUT HIS GRANDMA BEING HALF INDIAN, 25 % WHITE, HE USED TOM MAKE US STAY OUT OF THE SUN, MY MOM IS OF A MIXED RACE, PUERTO RICAN AND BLACK, HE WAS IN LOVE WITH MARIAH CARREY, HE DOESNT ACCEPT MY CHILD BECAUSE SHE IS HIS COLOR BUT LOVES HIS OTHER GRANDCHILD WHO LOOKS MIXED BUT ISNT, HEIS ALWAYS TELLING ME TO KEEP HER OUT THE SUN, HE THINKS THAT WHEN SHE ACTS UP ITS BECAUSE SHE IS DARK, HE THINKS LIGHTER PEOPLE ARE MORE GENTLE, HE STILL TELLS ME TO STAY OUT THE SUN, THE WORLD DOES PERCEIVE LIGHT AND WHITE AS BETTER, MY DAD MADE SURE I KNEW THIS, MARIAH CARREY IS MIXED, SHE IS NOT BLACK, KIMORA IS MIXED AND NOT BLACK, I AGREE THAT THEY CAN REPRESENT A BIRACIAL SOCIETY BUT NOT BLACK SOCIETY, THEY ARE MORE ACCEPTED BY WHITES AND BLACKS, I HAVE SEEN HOW I AM TREATED IN COMPARISON TO DARKER CO WORKERS WHO DEFINITELY HAVE TO WORK HARDER, WHITE PEOPLE THINK LIGHTER BLACKS ARE EASIER TO TALK TO SO THEY GET HIGHERED OVER DARKER BLACKS, THEIR IS A LOT OF RACISM IN BLACK SOCIETY AMONG BLACK PEOPLE, MOST BLACK MEN MARRY WHITE WOME OR LIGHT OR MIXED WOMEN, DARKER BLACK WOMEN GET PASSED UP, BLACK WOMEN ARE MORE LIKELY TO BE SINGLE PARENTS, THEY ARE THE LEAST MARRIED, MAIA CAMPBELL WAS DARK AND BEAUTIFUL, TYTIANNA ALI WAS DARKER AND BEAUTIFUL, STACEY DASH IS BROWN SKINNED AND BEAUTIFUL, LARK VORHIES WAS BROWN AND BEAUTIFUL, NIA LONG IS BROWN AND BEAUTIFUL, THANDIE NEWTON, ETC. HOWEVER SOCIETY WILL PASS THEM UP FOR MARIAH, KIMORA, JORDAN SPARKS, ALICIA KEYES, ETC. I DONT THINK SOCIETY PUTS A HIGH VALUE ON BLACK WOMEN, BLACK WOMEN HAVE TO TRY HARDER TO REPRESENT THEMSELVES , BLACK WOMEN STAY STRONG AND REPRESENT, MAKE SURE YOU TEACH YOUR DAUGHTERS TO REPRESENT AND BE PROUD, AND HOLD THEIR HEADS HIGH, GOD MADE US SO SHOW THE WORLD HOW BEAUTIFUL WE ARE.
