DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT: AQUAPONI

August 31st, 2007
COMMON IN AQUAPONI DRESS AND BAG BY AQUAPONI

This week’s spotlight goes to the boho-urban label AquaPoni. Started by Theresa Michelle and Kelli Marie of Los Angeles, AquaPoni delivers a innovative appeal to the hoodie and apparel game with vintage pieces combined to make modern styles for both women and men:

crw_0342.jpg Providing a fresh melee of rare vintage and repurposed clothing, ethnic jewelry and Boho-chic accessories, and undeniable couture style, AquaPonis unique selection affords reasonable prices for the most high-end shopper to the fashionista on a budget. We want to attract eclectic customers who arent afraid to stray far from the norm; people who can actually appreciate one of a kind pieces, says Kelli, co-founder and designer for the fresh new line AquaPoni, who totes the burgeoning boutique as an environment where buying is fun. Planting its first seeds with mostly friends and close acquaintances as customers, AP quickly branched out its accessories line throughout the Atlanta area.

Recently being highlighted on BET’s The 5ive, the exclusive clothing line has also gained quite attention in the Atlanta, being sold in local boutiques. They also have the support of many celebrities and entertainers including Common, Michael Knight, Keri Hilson, and Janelle Monae.

    I Support My City

Big Ups to the designers and the A. I have been living here all my life. I haven’t seen these around. Maybe I ought to get out of the house more. LOL!

But the negative side is- I need to start designing clothes if this is what’s supposed to be hot.

Miyoko (#12) – I’m sorry to see that you are my Spelman “sister”. If you don’t like our city, then take your black ass back to where ever the hell you came from – assuming that you are black. I bet you don’t have any friends. Transfer to another school. We don’t need ya!

P.S. Your experience is what you make it. It is a reflection of what resides within. If your experience is wack, then guess what?

First off–Common is so FINE!! Just seems to get better and better as he ages.

As for the clothing I’m not into wearing quilts and patchwork but to each their own.
