Crazy Britney Spears is back with her new single, “Gimme More,” produced by Nate “Danjahandz” Hills, who has been responsible for large contributions to Nelly Furtado’s Loose and Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveSounds. From what I’ve heard about Britney’s project, the vast majority of the material will sound like this – sexy, pop, techno Euro-influenced dance beats that require little-to-no vocal ability. I’m eager to hear what else Britney’s got in store for us this time around. I know that she’s worked with The Clutch, as well as Danjahandz. I’m just waiting to see what Britney’s going to come back looking like.

Blah blah blah who wants “more” of this trash? Not me for sure. Something fresh and good would have been great – or at least something more spectacular than this. I can’t stand the sight of her anymore or her weird crazy crap that doesn’t even pass for eclecticism. She’s gonna go the way of Michael Jackson – her erratic and irresponsible behavior is going to nothing but alienate the general public. I just really don’t think that people really even care anymore – she’s trashed her life, publicly and apparently with no shame. She definitely needs to get her personal life together before attempting this “comeback” – most are viewing her as a joke these days anyway. There’s far more talented people in the world to pay attention to.

The beat is on point, but there are chicks around the way that coulda made this joint pop. There was never a doubt in my mind that she was and is going to make a gigantic comeback. That’s what the continuous coverage of this girl has been about for the last 3-4 years even though she has not done anything as an artist. The media was trying to make sure that she stays in the minds of the people until she learned how to cope with that demon that Madonna passed unto her when they kissed at the MTV awards. That was a Kabbalah witchcraft ritual to symbolize that Britney had been chosen to carry the torch of establishing a standard for whoredom for the young women in America from Madonna. That whole Disney channel nonsense was a training ground to groom young, white pop stars to take some of the attention away from the infinitely more talented young black stars here in America. The white man deals heavily in idol worship and it offends his sensibilities to walk into little Timmy’s room and see him with his hat on backwards with a poster of DMX on the wall. Thusly, they have to generate the Justins, the Britneys, and the Christinas because the level of talent in the black community is so overwhelming.
I hate Brit, but I must say that I like the first part of the song. It starts off great, but then falls apart at the end. It has a great beat. When that guy starts speaking, it make it sound awful…

The beat is okay but it sounds too Euro club like CL said she was going for. I guess she’s trying to be sexy but it sounds kinda funky and not in a good way. I’ve seen photos from her new video and she looks so nasty. She was wearing underwear and swinging on a pole. Britney is just so trashy. I used to like her but now she sucks big time. Britney is trying to do the hip-hop thing like every other white pop artist but I’m glad she came out with straight pop/dance for the first single.
I heard this a while back. I don’t know if I can call it a comeback—-it sounds like all the other songs she’s done but it is catchy. Can she grab all her fans back? Possibly. But the road she took 2 publicity was the rockiest road I’ve seen. Can she make money off of her new album? I emailed CL and asked them to post this song b/c I thought it would get it big reaction. I do not know if my email prompted Brian to post the clip (I won’t flatter myself), but it looks like I was right. Britney’s comeback single did get an overwhelming response.
As far as whether it is appropriate for CL to post this…who basically created, continually reinvents and validates pop music? Black people. Since Britney is synonymous with all that is pop, it is not a stretch at all for her music to be on this site. Besides, nobody complained about her pictures and stories being posted when they were negative, so why can’t something of a positive, productive nature be poasted?
As for the song-it’s pure ear candy! Some people may not like her style of pop or singing, but music is in the ear of the beholder. Alot of people think she sounds good on this song, and I am among them. She’s no worse a vocalist than Gwen, Fergie, J. Lo or Rihanna. Some people say Christina’s voice is annoying. Some people say Beyonce’s voice is annoying. Even skilled crooners get criticized, so just b/c some people find Britney’s voice “annoying”, that in no way diminishes her overall talent.
If she tears it up at the VMAs-the pop game is gonna be a wrap! People might never have been infatuated with Britney b/c of her vocals, but alot of her appeal stems from her bar-raising performances. Her MTV gigs have helped redefine what it means to be a pop star-whether one thinks that is a good thing or not. Of all the young celebs, she is the one who is least likely to be forgotten b/c everything she does evokes strong emotions in people: love, disgust, envy, hatrad, obsession etc. Almost no one is completely indifferent to Britney Spears. In the words of Kanye West (somewhat) “Everybody feels a way about her… but at least they feel somethin’!”

She did great and although her songs may not have gone number 1 who cares, alot of people were still listening.
