The emotion in her delivery. You can always tell Alicia BELIEVES what she is singing, it is not just a gimmick. I’ll be purchasing this on November 13th!

I love Alicia she is very soulful but she is very nasal and she screams. This song isn’t hitting on anything maybe it will grow on me. But right now it sounds a hot mess, like she wasn’t done with the song and they just threw it out there anyway! I still love her though.

Now back to the song. I love it, but I can still see why some may not like. To me, this is very different for Alicia and the song brings her to a newer level because the sound isn’t a easy to classify as far as fitting in a particular genre. However, it’s not as undeniable as YDKMN, IIAGY, or even Fallin.

i like da melody… its very natural and has a live feeling to it… like she wants it to feel raw and real.. i think shes prolly going for a more natural and gritty feel.. love is intense .. and it isnt perfect.. so i can see why she didnt wanna have everything so perfect and soo comercially seemless.. she wanted to capture the moment of desperation and yearning.. it’s captured beautifully.. i did have to listen to it a few times before this feeling came over me.. but with listening and reading the lyrics.. its a beautiful groove.. ppl will gravitate to because its real and refreshing.. the new unique keyboards she used.. are different refreshing.. the vid shud capture the same energy i hope..

Anyways, after a first listen, the song is nice but that’s about it. I’m an AKeys huge fan but in all honesty I’m not that impressed. But hopefully this is not the best she has to deliver for this 3rd album and the 2nd single will be on a whole ‘nother level. The instrumental is better than that of the snippet though. The way she sings is RAW and that was purposely done, which is why it gives a Bob Marley vibe, if you knew anything about singing you’d know that this type of singing makes the emotions stronger and deeper. The thing about this song is that it’s very catchy so before you know it, it will stay in your head. The more you hear it, the more you love it, so believe it or not, it’s a certified HIT. Plus, if the video is hot, people won’t be able to deny it.

Ive always loved Ms Keys, but she sounds like she is straining to reach certain parts of the song, it doesnt do her the justice that she deserves! We’ve all heard better in terms of vocal and production from the beautiful Aquarian, but i think for first single, it will be a long shot. The entire song was flat, the music was dry and empty and the lyrics are simple and boring. I feels like the entire song is dragging you under a bus until it finally kills you.

I’m going to need Alicia to come to grips with her vocal limitations and sing material that is more sutiable for her voice. After I listened to her butcher “If I was your woman” on her unplugged album, I realized she doesn’t know her own limitations. And for a muscian she has a really bad ear , she’s constantly singing off key. Who let this song be released. Did anyone at the label listen to it? Anyone with a minimal amount of music knowledge can here how bad this song is.

I love Alicia. I’ve listened to her since her first CD. I love her energy, I love her spirit and I love her positve vibe - but I’m just not feeling this. And for those of you complaining that there’s no real music out right now, there is - Angie, Chrissette and Jill all have new material out or coming out. Now THAT’s SINGING!

Also, this isn’t “new” or “interesting”, it’s nothing but a “Where is the Love” remix. Alicia please give us something else a little better!!

The lyrics are simplistic, her vocals are sub par, and the production is the worst part of the song. She has so much potential, “You don’t know my name” is classic in my opinion, but she never lives up to all of the hype. You have got to be as tone deaf as she sounds in this song to think this is hot. Somebody at her record label needs to convince her NOT to release this as a single, or she is going to be in the same boat as Kelly Clarkson, with a horrible first single and lackluster sales.

I mean, I understand why she sang it so rough, it was her way of bringing some emotion to the song.

But, her voice sounds a bit too harsh, and it has nothing to do with developing a different sound. The vocals need to compliment the rest of the song, and I don’t think that they do.

It just sounds like she’s trying to push herself, and that can’t be good for her vocal chords. And if she has to sing this song, in this way, for each performance, the poor child won’t have a voice left.

I’m an Alicia stan and to be honest, I wasn’t feeling the snippet of this song, but I’m feeling it now that I’ve heard the entire song. It is catchy, just not the expected catchy we’re used to hearing on the radio–and Alicia has never been radio-friendly. I can’t wait for the album.
