Don’t get me wrong - Alicia Keys is TALENTED and is very skilled at what she does. BUT her vocal ability is not up to par - - which of course her other talents (writing, composing..etc) makes up for. Just because something is unique don’t make it refreshing….sometimes unique is fuckin up something that was good to begin with. Hell, sometimes unique is down right ugly. I see she hooked up with Linda Perry , must be from Christina’s team since they’re label mate. This is definitely new sound for her. Linda Perry always will brings out different sounds to her new collaborators.

I think in the song her voice has that raspy, raw sound reminiscent of Pink of her M!ssundaztood album and considering she is working with Linda Perry who worked with Pink on that album it is somewhat undestandable. I am not crazy about it but I think that in the generic marketplace that the music industry has become it is fresh and different. Kudos to Miss Keys for trying to be different!

i like da melody… its very natural and has a live feeling to it… like she wants it to feel raw and real.. i think shes prolly going for a more natural and gritty feel.. love is intense .. and it isnt perfect.. so i can see why she didnt wanna have everything so perfect and soo comercially seemless.. she wanted to capture the moment of desperation and yearning.. it’s captured beautifully.. i did have to listen to it a few times before this feeling came over me.. but with listening and reading the lyrics.. its a beautiful groove.. ppl will gravitate to because its real and refreshing.. the new unique keyboards she used.. are different refreshing.. the vid shud capture the same energy i hope..

Anyways, after a first listen, the song is nice but that’s about it. I’m an AKeys huge fan but in all honesty I’m not that impressed. But hopefully this is not the best she has to deliver for this 3rd album and the 2nd single will be on a whole ‘nother level. The instrumental is better than that of the snippet though. The way she sings is RAW and that was purposely done, which is why it gives a Bob Marley vibe, if you knew anything about singing you’d know that this type of singing makes the emotions stronger and deeper. The thing about this song is that it’s very catchy so before you know it, it will stay in your head. The more you hear it, the more you love it, so believe it or not, it’s a certified HIT. Plus, if the video is hot, people won’t be able to deny it.

Ive always loved Ms Keys, but she sounds like she is straining to reach certain parts of the song, it doesnt do her the justice that she deserves! The entire song was flat, the music was dry and empty and the lyrics are simple and boring. I feels like the entire song is dragging you under a bus until it finally kills you.

I’m going to need Alicia to come to grips with her vocal limitations and sing material that is more sutiable for her voice. After I listened to her butcher “If I was your woman” on her unplugged album, I realized she doesn’t know her own limitations. And for a muscian she has a really bad ear , she’s constantly singing off key. Who let this song be released. Did anyone at the label listen to it? I love Alicia. I’ve listened to her since her first CD. I love her energy, I love her spirit and I love her positve vibe - but I’m just not feeling this. First - She does not sound as if she is straining her voice or attempting to “hit” notes that are not within her reach…she’s going for a different sound (What’s so difficult to understand?)

Second - Some of it I like, some of it I do not like. The part(s) that is/are least favorable are when you catch glimpses of the old (vocal) AK. Then she reverts (if you will) back to the new way she’s attempting to lay down this track.

Third - There definitely is an attempt to “channel” a reggae vibe!

Finally - Interesting track! I’ll wait until I hear the final version before saying whether or not I’m really feelin’ it. Should be an interesting release!

This song is one of the best (if not THE best) songs to come out this year. The lyrics are beautiful, as is her voice. It’s a little different to how she usually sings, but I think that’s what gives it that raw vibe - A lot of soul and reggae artists sing as if they’re ’straining’ their voice, but that’s the style they intend. I think Alicia K has done it excellently… It’s HOT! I hope it burns up the charts to number one…

I LOVE THIS SONG! For those who dislike it, well to each his own of course, but I think this song shows her vocal range and power. i love your song

I LOVE this song but she sounds like she’s hoarse or something. It’s like she has vocal damage and she’s tryin to sing through it. She is also flat most of the time and it kills me that the music industry lets songs out there like that. I DO love the song though, but not her voice in this one….something happened…..something bad.

I can’t claim to be a big Alicia Keys fan, but I must say that she sounded good in her first album. I think her new song, “No One”, is not in the right key for her. First off, as many have already mentioned before, it’s a bit too high for her voice, which made her sound like she’s struggling to hit those high notes. Second, because of that struggle for high pitches, her sound production sounded very nasal, like she had a cold or something. From what I’ve seen in the past, a lot of singers try to compensate for being able to hit high pitches (if they’re not used to them) by producing a more nasal sound because to many it’s more comfortable to hit those high notes that way. I think the song is great, except that it’s written too high for her. They should have considered transposing it to a lower range. (I’m surprised they didn’t.) Overall, I think Alicia Keys is a good singer, but not in this song.

Big up! to TANISHA SCOTT she brought the best out in Alicia Keys. Alicia has so much swagger now that Tanisha is doing her Choregraphy. Lori-ann can get the boot she can’t move. The proof is in the pudding for Lori-ann just watch “Honey” her moves SUCKED! maybe age is catching up with her or Osteoporosis.

Tanisha created such a light for Alicia Key, I have to be one of Alicia Key’s biggest fans and I can honestly said Alicia couldn’t dance eeewwwww… NOW she has attitude with all her steps and such a glow when she moves. I was at the concert and I think it was amazing to see Alicia Key on stage dancing, singing and play the piano….. She is so blessed and Tanisha Scott is crazy talented and blessed!
