HURRICANE KATRINA: TWO YEARS LATER
Thursday, August 30, 2007

Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29, 2005 and the rest is history. Yesterday marked the two year anniversary of this environmental and governmental disaster. Our hearts go out to everyone who was effected by Katrina’s wrath.
After the cut, I attached a two clips from Spike Lee’s Emmy Nominated Documentary, When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts. It premiered to critical acclaim on HBO last year. This documentary was EXCELLENT and if you haven’t had a chance to view it yet, you need to. Check out HBO.COM for more info.
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE VIEWING THE VIDEO:
This video may contain content that is not suitable for the faint at heart. It contains graphic images of the victims of Hurricane Katrina’s wrath. This video is very powerful and I just wanted to make that clear to those who wanted to view it.

Yeah N.O. been crime infested for years. The reason why I like where Kanye was coming from is because he told how they were blaming blacks for looting, but white people were doing whats necessary to survive. Yeah the video is sad, but it showed the truth and reality of the country we live in.

Wow, if that video doesn’t shock or bring some kind of emotion out of you, i don’t know what will. I can’t even imagine being in that situation and said “Oh my god” when i saw the dead bodies just lying around. I’ll have to get that documentary ’cause this was my first time seeing that footage. My prayers are with all of the victims and their families. To the survivors, stay strong ’cause you are in my prayers too.

I remember reading somewhere in Essence how there was atleast $840 million in Aid money donated from Foreign countries to help Katrina Victims and only $40 million was used. Now if NO was predominalty rich white folks, every cent of that money would have been used. Its f*cking sickening. I f*cking hate America at times. This whole damn country is ran by f*cking serpents, devils, and homos. After watching that entire clip, my heart was full of anger and rage and hate, that I could have a damn heart attack at this very moment. I swear one day on my ancestors graves, these white f*ckers gonna pay. I want all of them to burn up in holy smoke. Its funny how they could make Michael Vick out to be such a monster over some damn dogs but when white people do all types of sh*t to Earth, they dont see it as THEIR fault, Its probably mother nature just acting up. Wrong you stupid bastards, Mother Nature unleashing her fury for wrecking the damn planet. White people have committed the most heinous acts of history and slowly but surely they are brainwashing everybody to forget about what they did.
*Calms Down*, Im more mad about this situation than anything else and Im not even from New Orleans, I from Nyc. After venting out my complete hatred and frustation, I must say the people who live in New Orleans are some strong people. I highly doubt us people in New York could come out as strong and brave as you guys were. Hell, us people in New york will pass out when the storm dumps about 3 inches of water and the subway stations shuts down. I hope and know that slowly but surely New Orleans would come back out on top again. You guys have to. Your city needs you and I know that even though times seem so hard right now, you guys will rise through it. Dont give up to those who feel lost. After the storm comes sunshine. Much love to everybody.

This is just as sad as the day it happened. It just makes it even worse when I think about how much incompetence there is on a national level and that all those people suffered and died and just floated away. All those people in that Super Dome…and then I flip the channel and see Lil Wayne and Birdman with all their ice and grills and cars. I am sure they probably helped and contributed, but it just gets me that with so much wealth between all those celebrities that those cities haven’t been repaired. You could change someone’s life with the sale of one of those pinky rings…God that video just made me so very sad…

I recently visited New Orleans and feel in love with this city. It was heart breaking to go through the Ninth Ward and see that little or nothing had changed. However, it also hurt that most of the repairs needed for these families to come back to their homes were to expensive for them to afford. We all need to band togethere to help revitalize this city and bring back all the people that once livied here…WE HAVE TO SAVE N’ALWINS

I mean not to go on, but where’s Oprah? Jordan? Cosby? Diddy? Jay? Like I said, I’m not saying that these folks have not done anything, but just imagine if all those folks got together at one time and went down there and publicly gave like $500 million and stayed to oversee it for a few months to make sure it went where it was supposed to go?

I live in Mississippi. I live about an hour and 45 minutes from Gulfport,MS and we felt the effects of Katrina. Trees and light poles were tore out of the ground, roofs blown off homes and trees fell on homes. It was scariest day of my life, because hurricanes never came that far inland. My family were fortunate enough to make it out of New Orleans before Katrina actually made landfall. Thanks Angel for posting this, because it definitely makes you stop and look at life a whole lot differently.

What did people expect when they re-elected “No Bus” Nagin? It shouldn’t have suprised me since these are the same folks that thought they could out run a hurrincane even though 3/4 of it’s citizens had already bounced. Its actually the local Government that is slippin’ on distributing the funds. When is it time for peole to be self sufficent. We can’t expect the Gov’t to come wipe our noses everytime we sneeze.

PPL DIDNT KNOW IT WAS GOING TO BE THIS BAD. IT AFFECTED MY WHOLE FAMILY. NEW ORLEANS CARRIES A LOT OF SENTIMENTAL VALUE TO ME. ITS MY HOME. ITS MY LIFE. AND OUT OF ALL PLACES IN THE WORLD, WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE MY PLACE? I AGREE, CRIME HAS GOTTEN WORSE, ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE RIVER YAY. AND THE SAME APT I LIVED IN BEFORE THE STORM, THE RENT HAS SINCE THEN DOUBLED. I AM CURRENTLY LIVING IN NC. BUT AFTER 2 YEARS, I AM FINALLY GOING TO MOVE BACK TO NEW ORLEANS, MAYBE THE COVINGTON OR METARIE ARE AND MARRYING THE LOVE OF MY LIFE, ALSO FROM NEW ORLEANS WHERE HE LIVES NOW. GOD BLESS EVERYONE AFFECTED BY THIS. WE ARE TRUE SURVIVORS YA DIG!

ANYTIME I THINK OF HURRICANE KATRINA AND THE MISTREATMENT OF MY PEOPLE BY THE GOV’T I SWEAR IT MAKES EYES WELL UP WITH TEARS
FOR ANY HUMAN TO BE TREATED THE WAY THEY WERE WAS INHUMANE-ALTHOUGH I DIDN’T WATCH THE DOC THAT SPIKE LEE DID ON HBO-I HOPE WHEN DAY I CAN BRING MYSELF TO WATCH IT
JUST FROM WATCHING THE NEWS BROADCAST ALONE I BECAME VERY ANGRY AND DEPRESSED-I DONATED MONEY THROUGH RED CROSS BUT IT WASN’T ENOUGH TO FEEL AS THOUGH I HAD ACTUALLY MADE A DIFFERENCE
THE RACE ISSUES IN AMERICA ARE SO BLATANT AND MANY BLACK PEOPLE KEEP SINGING THIS “KUMBAYA” NONSENSE AS IF “WHITES” MORESO THE “GOV’T” REALLY ACCEPTS US AND VIEWS US AS EQUALS
IT’S NOT THE REALITY AND THAT IS WHY I DON’T BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE ARRIVED AT THE POINT THAT WE SHOULD BE DATING OUTSIDE OUR RACES AND MOVING OUT OF THE INNER CITIES-IT’S OBVIOUS TO ME THAT THE ONLY WAY BLACK COMMUNITIES ARE GOING TO GET THE HELP THEY NEED IS IF WE DO IT OURSELVES
I KNOW MANY MAY DISAGREE WITH MY VIEWS AND PERSONALLY I DON’T CARE-DATE WHO YOU WANT, MARRY WHO YOU WANT, BUT OUR PEOPLE ARE IN A STATE OF EMERGENCY AND EVERY BLACK PERSON SHOULD BE FOCUSING THEIR ENERGY ON IMPROVING OUR SITUATIONS-BY MARRYING BLACK, INCREASING HEALTHY BLACK FAMILIES, THUS CREATING HEALTHIER RESPONSIBLE BLACK CHILDREN TO CARRY ON OUR LEGACY
I’M NOT ANTI-WHITE I’M JUST PRO-BLACK AND I DON’T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT
WHITES CAN HELP IF THEY LIKE, BUT THE RESPONSIBILITY NOBODY ELSES BUT OUR OWN-

BAILEY, I COSIGN DAT TO DA FULLEST. MY FIANCE”S BROTHER MARRIED A WHITE GIRL, AND WE THINK SHE PUT VODOO ON HIM. SHE WONT EVEN WORK, JUST TAKIN AND TAKIN FROM HIM. ITS LIKE SHE IS SLOWLY KILLING HIM. THEY HAVE 2 BOYS AND HE FEELS SO TRAPPED. HIS MAMA BEGGED AND BEGGED HIM NOT TO MARRY THAT GIRL. WE ARE NOT RACIST IN THE LEAST BIT. BUT I DO BELIEVE THAT WE ALL SHOULD PULL TOGETHER LIKE U SAID. NOW I KNOW EVERY SITUATION IS DIFFERENT, BUT BLACK PPL ITS IN OUR NATURE TO BE STRONG. WE SURVIVED ALL THE SLAVERY AND EVERYTHANG THE WHITE MAN TRIED TO TAKE FROM US. JUST FOR THE COLOR OF OUR SKIN. BUT YET WE TOO BUST TRYING TO COMPETE AGAINST ONE ANOTHER AND TEAR EACH OTHER DOWN. IN NEW ORLEANS, THE WHITE PPL ARE SCARED OF US, THEY LIKE US, BUT THEY ARE SCARED. THE CRIME IN MY CITY IS OUTRAGEOUS! ITS NOT THE WHITE MAN KILLING US. WE ARE KILLING US. WE ALL NEED TO PULL TOGETHER AND BE STRONG AND EMBRACE ONE ANOTHER. AND IT ALL STARTS IN THE HOME. BETTER FAMILIES BUILD BETTER COMMUNTIES AND BETTER CHURCHES. ME AND MY FIANCE ARE REALLY GOING TO TRY TO TOUCH AS MANY PPL AS WE CAN. BECAUSE WE WERE ORDAINED BY GOD AND HE HAS REALLY SHOWN HIMSELF TO US. WE AS BLACK PPL MUST FIRST HELP OURSELVES BEFORE WE CAN HELP OTHERS AND INVITE THEM INTO OUR WORLD. RACISM STILL EXISTS TODAY. AND ITS NOT GOING ANYWHERE NO TIME SOON. A FAMILY THAT PRAYS TOGTHERE STAYS TOGETHER. AND WE AS BLACK PPL MUST DO THAT BEFORE WE CAN HELP ANYBODY ELSE. NEW ORLEANS IS A VERY SPIRITUAL CITY ANYWAY, SO I’M UP FOR A CHALLENGE……..

Anytime this situation is bought up tears well in my eyes. I saw that this was posted yesterday but didn’t have enough courage to post because I didn’t want to be crying at my desk at work. I know alot of people who have suffered and I also have family members who actually died. I am so pist off the way the President handled this situation. He can spend billions on this pointless war but he can’t even help his own (or should I say our own). I am pist at Ray Nagin for not letting the residents know as soon as he was aware of the fact that they needed to evacuate. I am pist that they didn’t send enough transporation for the ones who didn’t have transportation so they can get the hell out of N.O. too. And I am pist at the fact that it is 2 fucking years later and the N.O. is still in shambles. There are alot of things I am furious about. Too many to list here. I just want to say God bless everyone affected by this. And in the words of the Late Great Tupac….Keep Your Head Up.

what’s really sad is that ppl don’t care…
this blog has like 90 something replies when a blog about beyonce, rihanna or ciara would have about 200 in a matter of hours. we don’t care. the world makes me sick. it just goes to show how our minds think. It’s not just “bush” its everyone. I’m from mississippi and alot of the new orleans and southern mississippi victims came to northern mississippi. alot of them didnt know where their families were or friends. it was awful. whats even worse is the treatment that alot of them got when they went to different areas. Especially TX. My family and I used to go to New Orleans and the Coast for summer vacation. It was beautiful down there. Ppl have this image in their heads that Mississippi is this rural heck state when its not. The gulf coast was amazing…wonder houses, businesses, beaches, everything and now its gone. I think back on the ppl that I met while visiting and I just want to cry because they might not be alive anymore because ppl don’t care. I cried every single day that this was happening, I honestly couldnt watch anything else. I remember seeing that guy on there who couldnt find his wife. Over 1700 ppl died in Hurricane katrina… over 800 ppl are still missing. we can spend over a million dollars every 3 days in a pointless war but we couldn’t help a city that made more money than the state of New York and Washington. Ppl say it wasn’t a racist thing, yes it was. Believe me, let this would have happened to an un urban area….shit would not have went down like that. we need to open our eyes. we care about the wrong things. its cool to have fun but just know its other important things exist. How much time have you dedicated to helping? How much money have you spent in? Not just with hurricane Katrina but other important issues has well. Have you signed the Jena 6 petition? Are you a member of the NAACP? We need to get it together ppl…we’re so lost as a race and as a country as whole.

WOW, YALL HAVE REALLY TOOK ME BACK, ALTHOUGH I WASNT THERE IN THE STORM WHEN IT HAPPENED, MAN I CRIED AND CRIED WHEN I HAD TO GO TO THE AIRPORT AND PICK UP MY MAH MAH AND PA PA AND LIL COUSINS AND THEY HAD ON A BRIGHT YELLOW T SHIRT THAT THEY HAD GOTTEN FROM THE SUPER DOME. ALL OF THEM. I WAS LIKE OH MY GOD! THEY WERE INVITED INTO OUR HOUSE AND I REMEMBER WHEN IT WAS LIKE 15 PPL UNDER ONE ROOF. WE ALL WENT THROUGHT IT TOGETHER. AND I AM DIGUSTED BY THE IMAGES WE SEEN ON TV OF US, LIKE WE ALL WERE JUST LIVING FOUL AND NASTY AND GHETTO. WE ARE NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL. BUT THE IMAGE PORTRAYED US TO BE ANIMALS. TEXAS PPL DID NOT LIKE US, I DONT CARE WHAT THEY SAID, THEY DID NOT WANT US THERE. I HAVE FAMILY THAT HAVE BEEN CAUGHT AND JAILED IN TEXAS AND WERE TREATED WORSE JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE FROM NEW ORLEANS. MY HOME IS TRULY SPECIAL AND I AM GOING TO DO EVERYTHANG I CAN TO GET IT BACK RIGHT. NEW ORLEANS PPL ARE SO SPECIAL AND WE ARE SO FUN AND ALIVE AND CAREFREE. IT REALLY IS THE PARTY CITY, WE ARE ABOUT FAMILY , AND GOOD FOOD AND GOOD COMPANY AND GOOD MUSIC, AND WE WILL WELCOME U INTO OUR HOUSE WITH NOTHIN BUT LOVE. NOW, ON THE OTHER HAND, ONE THANG I DO LOVE ABOUT MY NAWLINS FOLKS IS THAT WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT, OH WE CAN SHOLL NUFF FLIP THE SWITCH BABY. WE ARE SOME REAL GENUINE PPL. I REMEMBER JUST WALKIN UP THE CORNER, AND OLD MEN AND OLD WOMEN JUST SITTIN ON CHAIRS OUTSIDE SELLING PEANUTS AND HUCKLE BUCKS. AND I HAVE FAMILY THAT STILL CUT CHICKEN’S HEADS OFF AND JAR THEIR FRUITS AND VEGATABLES. MAN I LOVE MY FAMILY! I CAN’T WAIT TO GO BACK TO MY CITY, I OWE THAT TO MYSELF, MY DAUGHTER, AND MY COMMUNITY. I AM NEW ORLEANS!

It’s unfortunate what happened to those brothers and sisters but it will continue to happen and it must because black people don’t respect the Most High and they damn sure don’t respect each other. Our people are too fearful and that makes them unable to commit to a thought process, much less what it takes to build up a community. Some of the same people that post on a topic like this and act frustrated are the same ones that get angry when you say anything about the white man (James 1:8). Whatever. Sean Penn could be a CIA agent for all we know so all the people celebrating that man are only making him another idol (Prov 12:20). How the hell does the man go from Iraq to Katrina unless the government allows him to (Job 1:7)? That’s a national security risk to have a high profile man jumping to all these highly sensitive virtual warzones, acting like Rambo, and the government not be involved or cosigning this man in some way. Most of these actors are being used to deceive the people and introduce new doctrines believe it or not. For those who think that the government does not shut down the actors that are really against them, think again. Once Charlie Sheen tried to make the rounds with his belief that 9/11 was an inside job, all of a sudden the story leaked that the man likes to sleep with crossdressing male prostitutes, lmao.
Katrina was a government sponsored destruction of that entire area for the purposes of cleaning that area out and making it a city for the white elite, a port for the oil that they plan to smuggle from Venezuela after they invade and conquer that country, and a satanic sacrifice. They chose the name “Katrina” for the storm because August 29 was used throughout Greco-Roman pagan worship history to commemorate a celebration for the goddess of WITCHCRAFT (which New Orleans was reknowned for) Hecate/Diana/Isis/Ishstar/Ashtoreth/the queen of heaven, etc (Judges 2:13, Jer 7:18, Acts 19:21-41, etc.). The name “Katrina” comes from the name of the goddess “Hecate” which means to “purify through torture”. That’s exactly what happened to that land and the inhabitants of that land. As a matter of fact, in the celebration of Hecate/Katrina on Aug. 29th, the custom was to sacrifice black dogs. Look it up yourself. These people in power are practical jokers and one only gets satisfaction from a joke if certain people understand that they organized the whole thing.
The government used that HAARP weather modification program to increase the eye of the storm to wipe out the damn city, in conjunction with the bombs that destroyed the levees planted by the government’s black ops military units. Contrary to what’s believed, these people at the top worship Satan at a high level and still keep their pagan practices from the Greek and Roman times because they know who they are in history, we don’t.
Hurricane Katrina is something that we’ll never fully know the truth about until the people that are responsible for it are dead (Eph 5:12). That’s the only time the white man fesses up and acts like he will hold himself responsible for his heinous crimes. Like someone touched on already, Trump and all the other land developers were already waiting in the wings to gulp up the lands left desolate by the storm so that they could reap the massive benefits (Jer 22:13,14, Hab 2:12). The Lord brought that storm to New Orleans and allowed the white man to exacerbate it in order to cleanse that place because of how our people were destroying each other (Jer 16:4-6). The Lord controlled that storm and brought that death and destruction so that our people could wake up (Job 37:10-15, Psa 83:15, Isa 28:2. etc.).

Im pissed that the government hasnt done more to assist financially with the rebuilding of NewOrleans. Here it is 2+years after the levees broke and the tragedy occurred nearly wiping out NewOrleans and most of the city ,with exception to the French Quarter still resembles a war zone. Many of the native residents couldnt return of they wanted to because its still a disaster zone. The insurance companies are giving the home owners a hard time with their claims so ,that they can rebuild. Then we have this azzhole of a president acting as if they have done as much as they can,and making more meaningless promises to the city. Funny how he has no problem going to congress to try to get more money for the war whenever he feels like it,but he cant ask congress to set aside more $$ to rebuild the Gulf coast and newOrleans! Damn shame!Cant wait until his azz is out of office.he should have never made it to office!

I watched the documentary “When the Levees broke”by Spike Lee 2 times ,and it was very informative. I have been to NewOrleans before but unless your a resident you dont get the full impact beyond the occassional news coverage of what happened in Gulf Coast and newOrleans until you watch this, and see the actual people effected by this tragedy! It was so sad to see people revisitng areas that they once called home and not even being able to recognize where they once lived, because it was so tore up. When Katrina occurred I said “give it a year or so and they will have it back up and running. 2 years later the tourist area is up and running but many of the other areas (9th ward ) are still tore up. They stil have people living in Fema trailers, though the number has decreased some since Katrina (and according to latest coverage of Oprah Winfrey show last week many in the trailers are getting sick, because they werent meant for long term residency. I just wish that the government woukd step up more. This is why we as people have to vote, stop making excuses abd take your azz to vote .Numbers are power and these poliicians need to realize that charity begins at home ,andbthey work for US ,because oftentimes we put their azz in office .When the tsunami occured it was tragic as well.I think about alo the people from our country who donated funds, clothing etc to that country ,even our government and heer we have a tragedy in the USA and everyones shrugging their shoulder and acting like they dont know what needs to be done.

Ok I said enough but 1 more thing. I hope that the Crime rate in new orleans goes down because in times like this the last thing that black folk or any folk need to be doing is contributing to the already high crime rate and making a bad situation worse. This is a time to rally together as a show of support for oneanother and as a show of love for the city!

Who gives a shit? Blaming the gov because they “Hate black people”….come on now that gets old after awhile. you can only blame others so much. Yeah they were late going to new orleans i was in Alexandria at the time and the streets were full of people from there as well as an abandoned wal-mart in pineville. Face it shit happens and this time it happend to a majority of blacks so it’s time to throw out the old race card. This is exactly what spike lee wanted. Every one of his films are geared to pump up black people. I would glady punch that crybaby in the teeth if i saw his beanhead lookin ass. As for blowing up the levee’s? Come on now i know even with new orleans schools being below national average you CAN’T be THAT stupid. What about the black people looting each others houses? What about the ones robbing each other in the streets? Way to stick together! How about the ones firing at the helecopter trying to airlift the people from the hospital? Oh, and i suppose you all forgot to mention the fact a white guy stole a school bs and loaded it up with people of ALL races and drove it out of new orleans. Honeslt yhwy would they want to rebuild the 9th ward? DO you DESERVE a brand new house when most of the places there were already Hud and Gov projects? You would want to rebuild one of the most drug ridden neighborhoods in new orleans? Face it black people your fucked so do like the whites and work your ass of for something. I don’t see a free ride coming this time you may have to sweat for it. Before you call me omg a RACIST just remember you have said the same in your above posts so i guess we are all racists in the world to some extent. RIP The people that died should have swam a lil better. The people that didn’t should work a little harder. Btw obama most likely isn’t going to get into office black people are too lazy to vote and white people will actually vote mcains old half dead ass in before they vote obama in even if he is becoming a nice little uncle tom.
