Ms. Monae just won herself a new fan. After that Omarion and Bow Wow bullshit I started listening to this song with pretty low standards. I was pretty amazed though. Not only does it not sound like anything else I’ve been hearing recently (in a very good way) but if the rest of her material sounds like this, I can see her doin big things. Can’t wait to hear more from her…

I can understand where you are coming from, but maybe you should check her out on some of her more contemporary cuts, like the El Debarge cover that she did on Big Boi’s Got Purp? It’s called “Time Will Reveal”.

Not Feeling this AT ALL! voice is pretty but it seems as if she’s trying to be the Female Andre 3000 at least that’s what I get from it.

I really like this song. Its fresh and I like the fact that its something different but not trying so hard to be different. Its still has a very contemporary sound to it. If the rest of the album continues to sound like this song I think it could be a contender for a Grammy.

Ummm…yeah, I usually like non-mainstream and contemporary artists but I thinks she’s trying toooo hard to be different. I am the biggest supporter of “different” and underground music but her style seems forced, almost like this is a major gimmick. Her voice isn’t bad, I’d have to hear more before I go cop the whole CD.

I actually like janelle song and voice. Although I do think at times on her myspace bulletins she goes overboard with this outerspace/1950’s stuff. Wonder what ever happened to Kina (from Brownstone) who made steps into the rock arena a little while back. Like Res, this sister was giving it original, but didn’t really catch on.

I guess it’s hard to break out the black alternative with the current state of black radio.

I am totally into different types of music especially trip hop/down tempo (Masssive Attach, Zero 7, BJORK ), but this didn’t catch my ear at all. As a visual artist, I think she is stunning, but I haven’t heard anything of hers and moves me. When I first saw that poster the first thing that I thought of was Bjork (All is full of love video) I think she wants be be the black bjork.

yeah her and kelis are both different but janelle can actually blow and even though i love kelis she is not as good of a singer as janelle…love this song…it sounds so much better in the car.
