Janelle Monáe - Violet Stars Happy Hunting!

This week, Janelle Monáe releases the first suite of the epic story, Metropolis, her debut album, titled The Chase. Metropolis is a concept album, a futuristic take on 1927’s silent film, Metropolis, by Fritz Lang. Monáe, who has worked with on the acclaimed Idlewild album from OutKast, as well as Big Boi’s Got Purp, Vol. 2, has taken a new approach to releasing her album, in the form of suites. The Wondaland Arts Society will release a suite every three months, and a full length LP after each suite is released. The material from her debut is exciting and very high-energy, and is definitely a breath of fresh air. The album will available in select stores, in the official store and on iTunes.

Make sure you log on to the official store and order your copy of Metropolis, due out Friday, August 24 and log on to her MySpace for more releases and upcoming events.

Yo this is FIYAH! I love the whole concept album idea of basically telling a tale through different chapters and songs. This particular song is so hot to me though. I have been listening to this track back to back. Get into it!

Well to the ones who are like, “She’s weird; this is wat kids listen to these days?” Yes it is wat we listen to. why? because we’ve obviously evolved from th 1960’s, 70’s, 80’s, & 90’s. We’re in a new era and to me Janelle Monae is introducing that new era to the world. Her voice is beautiful, her image is different from other typical artists now-a-days. Also to # 35, you can tell this music is completely Janell’s style and from the heart; way more so than the noise Kelis makes. OPEN YA MINDS PEOPLE. TIMES ARE CHANGING!

I think that Janelle Monae will change the world of music. This is the first song/single in her conquest to do so….

So, she works with Big Boi? Hmm I guess that explains why she sounds like the female carbon copy of Andre 3000. DOn’t believe me, check out Andre 3000’s cartoon soundtrack. I still like the song tho. Lol, maybe because I like Andre 3000 and his soundtrack…

I think this will be one of the artists that either does very well commercialy (meaning they’ll Brand the crap out of her because she’s cute and different) or we won’t see at all in 3 three years. Let’s be honest she doesn’t have a great voice, it’s ok to say the least, it’s not that different than most singers on a stage show in college. The style is basically Andre 5000 from outkast put in a girl. True she says some outspoken statements to match her over the top character, but that doesn’t make it original. I’m not sure if people are just so use to seeing what we think is normal on tv so when an artists steps onto it that they find unique for one second they start calling them ORIGINALS, this girls is not an original, she’s a make up of several strong factors in the entertainment industry, Grace Jones, Andre 5000, and James Brown’s dancing (not by any means her singing) still vocally she doesn’t compare to any great singers, and thats just being honest.
