In September’s Essence magazine, Jill Scott (featured on the cover) speaks with Terry McMillan about her divorce and how she is dealing with it. As stated on the cover she admits that she isn’t broken in anyway.
If you didn’t know, back in June AOL Black voices, gave the exclusive news about her impending divorce from husband of 5 years, Lyzel Williams. Williams was the inspiration for one of Scott’s most memorable songs, ‘He Loves Me (Lyzel In E Flat)’.

#44 are you serious! just becasue you don’t have someone all the time it is bad. wow you must not like yourself that much or maybe you don’t have good friends and family on your side. there is nothing wrong with being in love and wanting to be loved, but you should be happy with yourself and be ok with being alone. why do you think the divorce rate is so high? people rush into marriage so they won’t be “alone” and the next thing you know they are running to get out of it or realize that they settled for the wrong one. there is nothing wrong with figuring out who you are and what you want before you get with someone. being single might be lonely, but it is even worse when you feel alone and you are in a relationship. and #59 she was saying that in a article in Vibe magazine a few years ago.
