New York City based photographer Taj Washington will be casting models of all ethnicities and sizes for KRAVE Magazine’s double holiday issue (The New York Issue). KRAVE is looking for models that represent one of the five boroughs the best. Models will receive magazine tears as they appear in KRAVE, as well as a copy of the magazine, and first consideration for future projects. All clothing, hair, and make-up will be provided.
KRAVE magazine speaks to the needs of today’s man of color while embracing all aspects of his life. The magazine also delivers relevant stories, award-winning photography, and cutting-edge design focused on fashion, lifestyle and entertainment. You can see more about this wonderful magazine at www.kravemagazine.net.
Please note that all models must show valid photo ID when they arrive at the shoot, as well as sign a Model Release Form.
Please continue reading for the full guidelines and contact info to send in your photos.
The submission guidelines are as follows:
* All entrants must send at least one clear well-lit photograph showing their face, as well as a full-length photograph showing their body (clothed). DO NOT wear any hats, glasses or scarves or anything else that could possibly obscure your face in the photographs.
* Only one person should be in the photograph(s). No photographs of multiple individuals will be accepted. This means, no photographs taken at cookouts, baby showers or other various family functions showing extra and unnecessary people in the background.
* All photographs must reflect your current look/hairstyle. Do not send photos that you claim are current with your hair down to your waist, when you currently have a military Caesar haircut (this goes for men and women).
* Understand that this is a model search; not a contest. You will not win a prize. You will not be paid. Instead, you will get the chance to be featured in the upcoming Double Holiday Issue of KRAVE Magazine.
* Please note that while this model search is open to everyone nationwide, KRAVE Magazine is not responsible for any travel arrangements made by hopeful models attempting to get to NYC where the photo shoot will take place. Any costs that you incur is solely your own.
THE Deadline for ENTRIES is September 30th!
Please email all submissions with your measurements (height, waist size, dress size, inseam, collar size, shoe size, etc) to taj@tajwashington.com

Taj is doing a great job for giving opportunities to upcoming models in the not-so-easy-to-get-to industry. He should be commendable for his attempt at uplifting his fellow brothers and sisters.
Good luck to all that will be sending through their profiles/photos.

I thought the search was open to all ehtnicities and sizes why is there a height requirement???
I wish I was in NY damnit!!! But good look to all the models
WHEN YOU GET A CENTER DOWN IN DC…COME HOLLA AT ME.
IF THE CASTING IS OPEN TO EVERY SIZE AND HEIGHT, WHY DO YOU HAVE HEIGHT AND SIZE MEASUREMENTS? UMMM
Thank you #29 at least someone is paying attention this morning i’m waiting on the same answer
Why would anyone want to do this model searching ?
Yeah, I understand it’s for people who want to get their face out there…but seriously.
No pay?
Not even a small amount?
I guess all of those models must be extremely desperate for exposure. That’s all. I’ve never even heard/seen Krave magazine before.
#29,. #30
I’m not even trying to be rude, but are you seriously asking that?
Would you rather see a woman with an average height, and average body build?
Or a pudgy, 4’5″ tall chick squeezing herself into denim jeans, rolls all over? It’s not cute, nor marketable.
I remember when KRAVE first hit the scene keep doing your thing Will,,,,Loving the work!!!!!
Thanks @ 32 I was wondering that ,but I didn’t want to seem rude. Even though I fall into all of the requirments Im not in NYC nor Im I into modeling but do your thing Taj!
#32 yeah, i seriously ask that….i rather see beautiful women of all shapes in sizes model. full figure, small, thick whatever you want to call it. whose 4’5 and modeling…. maybe you got the circus mixed up with modeling. because i never seen a 4’5 model. either way, i ask because it speciffically states at the top all ethinic and sizes are welcome but taj the photographer gives out measurements and height requirements in a post. i’m paying attention are you…. thanksssssss
FIrst of all …no one said anything about average height or average body build we clearly know that this is a model search which means you have to have the LOOK of a model and not necessarily the height. There are a lot of models who are under 5’5 who would easily blow a lot of the 5’9 and above models out of the water with much better talent and better looks. There are different categories of modeling and if i’m not mistaken this is for a magazine which is print and a lot of print work has no height requirement which is why I asked why is there a height requirement but thank you for your input #32
greatly appreciated
agrees with #36
Even though he said all shapes and sizes, one has to be realistic. They are seeking men who are 21-28, 5′8″-6′3″, 32-38 waist, any race, and women who are 19-26, 5′6″-5′10″, size 6 to 12, any race. Meaning, that it is pretty much open to all. Also, you have to understand that for the clothes to have the right fit and look good, the models have to at least fall into the aforementioned height/weight range. Keep in mind that most of the clothing will probably be pulled from showrooms that have very limited sizing.
So instead of you all making negative comments, be happy that there is a photographer and a new, young magazine editor/creator out there attempting to do something positive, instead of tearing them down. Don hate because you can’t fit the criteria or don’t have the nerve to enter. Besides, very few models who start out get paid for tearsheets. Then again, if #32 was a real model, they would know that…
To the person who asked why there had to be a height requirement, I can’t believe you are complaining! I’ve done some modeling and these are some of the most lax requirements Ive ever seen. Usually we have to be 5’9-6’0 and no bigger than a size 4!!!! I’m grateful to photogs like TAJ that give more people a chance to model because it is sooo difficult to maintain those requirements. I am 5’1’1” and a size 4 and although I am too tall and too thin for this campaign, I am not complaining about TAJ’s ad because the sizes are far more realistic.
MAN iM ONLy 15!
