Michael Vick plead guilty to his dogfighting charges earlier this morning in a Virgina Court House and shortly after he made a statement apologizing to everyone for his actions.
“I’m totally disappointed in myself to say the least”, said Vick. “I want to apologize to all the young kids out there for my immature acts and, uh, what I did was very immature so that means I need to grow up.”
“I totally ask for forgiveness and understanding as I move forward to bettering Mike Vick the person, not the football player.”
Vick also condemned his actions, “Dogfighting is a terrible thing and I didn’t reject it. I found Jesus and I ask Him for forgiveness and I turn my life over to God.” [SOURCE]
Vick will be sentenced on December 10th.
Ok this dogfighting thing is way outta of hand! I DO NOT CONDONE HIS ACTIONS, however the people have just blown this story outta whack. The dude didn’t kill anyone! I don’t think he should go to jail maybe pay & stiff @ss fine & probation for 5 years. Some people that commit major felonies get less time. And the NFL should not suspend him either. Where is the clause in his contract that states dogfighting is cause for suspension?!?!? I hope this teaches these young brothers that come into fast million dollar contracts that you have to have some common sense. @70 Mena, I agree with you on that point. He did have a stank attitude, and he may be sorry he got caught, not for the crime itself. You’re right, but I was not saying it was okay for what he did, I was simply stating that PETA is contradicting themselves. I though they were for animal life.

If he is giving his life to god, good for him. I remember our preacher saying,” Parents, bring your kids to church, even if they don’t pay attention in church as kids, they will know where to turn in their time of trouble as adults.”
I feel conflicted about this in so many ways. I think there was a campaign to bring him down anyway, I think that he was stupid and callous for his actions, I think life is life and it shouldn’t be compromised whether it’s an animal or a human, I think people have a right to support him or hate him if that’s what they choose to do, I think we should all move on with our lives and make sure that we don’t get caught doing some stupid shyt ourselves. LOL
On the serious note: I’m a dog lover to the 10th power and it really unnerved me to see the dogs fighting and know how they were killed unmercifully.I wouldn’t wish that type of treatment on anyone or any animal (unless the animal or person tried to kill me:)

Sorry Vick, but you just couldn’t leave it alone. It’s a shame how many people are trying to side with Vick on this issue, the responses on this board are amazing. Don’t let being from the hood justify your ignorance. Vick is in an economic position most of us can only dream of reaching, and he chooses to use his resources to engage in illegal activities. Is that what we really stand for growing up in the hood? No. It’s definitely NOT what being black is all about, but according to some this is a sub-culture afforded to us from the hood. Life is all about choices, and the more we [blacks folks] come to that realization the better we will be as a community. Vick made the choice to participate and now he has to suffer the consequences. Whether you like dogs or not, dogfighting is barbaric and we must not defend those in our community who participate in this activity.

Way too many of we black folks have the “victim’s mentatlity.” I get so sick of hearing that “they are out to get us.” What about the windows in every innercity home having bars on the windows? Is it “they” we are afraid of breaking in and taking our stuff.
What about the young folks being killed daily in our innercities all across America. Is it “they” that are firing the guns. I know about institutionalized racism, but I am talking abou the harm we bring to self. Within your own family, if you don’t take responsibilty when you do something wrong, you can grow up this way.
Parents, it’s recognized that your children have talent, at an early age, keep them grounded in the real world. If not, there are many examples of stars like Vick, who lose their way, and think they are above the law. Black doesn’t have as much to do with it as it used to. It’s more a class issue now.
Vick’s main problem was how he brutalized those dogs. If not for that, he would have walked with a fine and community service. You can’t brutalize any of God’s creatures.

The more I sat back and thought about the situation I began to realize that the sentencing was handed down by GOD, not man. I think that Vicks’ punishment is an act of GOD. Like he took everything from those animals, GOD took everything from HIM. I personally don’t think he should’ve lost his career over it but GOD has spoken and if GOD see fit, he will give it all back to Vick, but first he must repent. GOD has love and mercy for all of us so Vick will definitely survive this and hopefully come of this as a better person. I’m not trying to preach or anything but that is just how I see it. I think we all have had a wake up call from GOD before and because of HIM we are still standing.
