“MISS TINA” CLOTHING LINE
Monday, August 20, 2007

It is not a game with the Knowles family. The ladies have pulled another clothing line from under the threads and its coming from straight from Momma Tina…or “Miss Tina” that is.
Tina Knowles’ new clothing line debuted this past weekend on HSN (Home Shopping Network) and I was able to catch glimpses of it. I can say it actually looks pretty good and very stylish for her target audience:
Tina on her clothing line:
“I love the fact that the sizes go all the way up [2 to 24],” said Knowles in a statement. “There’s a forgotten woman who wants a pencil skirt, too, or a blouse that’s a little lower cut.
“Beyonce has backup singers who are full-figured women. Being a woman over 50, I try to think about the things I have going for me and the things I want to hide, like my arms. I’m giving them options with shrugs. I’ve been a stylist for so many years, I know how to accentuate the positive.”
“Accentuate the positive”…I like that…
Here are some looks from her line, that include shoes and accessories. The prices are pretty affordable as well, ranging from $69 jeans to $200 handbags.

The Knowles are smart people. They are all able to start businesses on the strength of Beyonce. They’ll be rich forever.
It is also a good thing that Tina is catering to all types of women from small to big, older to young.

Wait I just looked at the line, no still not interested in any of it. And I wish she would not pimp her stuff as couture or a taste of it. To be couture you actually have to study an Italy and receieve some special acknowledgment as a couture dress maker, you cannot say you are couture just because you want to sell your threads at a major price. There are less that I think 100 couture designers in the world and Miss Tina aint one of them (using aint for emphasis). The one… has spoken.

The Knowles were rich before Beyonce and before Destiny’s Child, I thought they were already millionaires from the parents two businesses and that’s what helped them set up their DC boot camp training thing they had going on for the girls to develope. My point is these people have always known how to make money and do business and capitalise.. Its not like Beyonce just came and made them rich. I think i remember reading they almost went bankrupt putting everything they had into creating and launching DC and Beyonce’s careers. Now they’ve got a higher platform to springboard theirs shit.. Only black people try to bring their own down when it comes them showing these types of smarts. Its like we don’t realise this is what white people do to create wealth. Why can’t we just see it as anything other than smart??

I hate when people dilute the word couture..Couture pieces are of the finest material, finest of cuts…putting an expensive price tag on an outfit does not make it couture.. the clothes for me seem very dated…it feels like she is trying to recreate fasion pieces from 4 seasons ago… + this woman SCARES the hell out of me.! But hey somebody will but it…

Watched the show lastnight and her clothes are really cute. Tried to order a few pieces but they sold out in my size. Really like the jeans, but they are cut a little bigger than normal, so I’d need a 2 and she doesn’t carry that size in the jeans. Was able to get the red jersey dress and will be interested to see how the quality is once it finally arrives (it’s on extended delivery). Must say that I much prefer this line than the HOD or Dereon lines. Those lines seem to cater to teens and twenty somethings who want to look like they’re in a music video. The Miss Tina line is definitely something I would rock. Good luck ‘Miss Tina’.

I never understood why Black people are so quick to down talk one another. Which is very sad for a race of people. Blacks need to celebrate the fact that black designers are trying to come up in businesses in general. The black race is a disgrace. It will never prosper:( I applaud Tiny!

As #9 and #21 stated Miss Tina’s stuff ain’t couture, and she’s abusing the word by associating it with her HOD lines. I’m not gonna knock cos i love seeing black people do well and this line ain’t as bad as i thought it would be, but she needs to leave the word alone.
I study fashion and i know that to be a couturier and for your clothes to be considered as haute couture you have to be based in France (although there is one couturier in america, and 1 or 2 in Italy) and use the best of the best when it comes to fabric. you should only have a certain number of staff that hand make the clothes-couture is NOT mass produced.

@27 and 20, NO ONE SAID MISS TINA COULDN’T MAKE MONEY, my issue is with the quality of her clothing line. It is not couture nor should she say it is or a replica for the poor masses. Hell I am sure no one in here could or would be stupid enough to spend 10,000 and up on a dress, I would not and I make a good living.
If you want to get black and politic, we need less new threads and more in our heads.
How about launching a publishing company that promotes black writers and gives voices to spoken poets who cannot get published in America because less then one percent of publishing companies are owned by our people.
Same old same old, in the black community, lets make money off the poor by selling useless overpriced cheap clothing shoes and purses. God forbid we do it by diversifying our product to build our communties. How about you launch a housing community development project where you build affordable beautiful homes for the working class instead of the super rich or poor which is more then 60 % of our community, we do work as you like to tell us, no one is hating on Mrs. Knowles, but damn do we need another clothing line. I cannot wait for Solange to come out with her teen line, or Mr. Knowles with his Kat-Daddy threads, wow that is just what we need.
Let me get off my soap box..the one has spoken.

LOL I was watching it last night. At first when I say “Miss Tina” on the schedule, she immediately came to mind but I was like “naw that can’t be her” but then i was flicking through channels and saw her sitting there.
I don’t understand why she wouldn’t just promote HOD because it looks EXACTLY the same but at a MUCCCCCCCHHHHHH affordable price-point *well not really after you consider the tax, the shipping and the handling—— u may THINK u’re buying one of her shirts @ 79.00 or sumthin’ but at checkout, u’re looking at $100 spent on one item*…. Some of u mite not consider that so cheap.
Either way, they all look the same. Kelly even called in @ one point and kinda claimed for Tina that all her stuff were oh-so-authentic and well made cuz she was with her thru the whole process of preparing for the show… I don’t kno if I believe all that but she was doing a good job of vouching for her..
Maybe Miss Tina will finally get some credit for this line… Good luck to her…

I think this line has more to offer “grown and sexy” women. I really wish Haters would fall back. U have the right/option not to buy the clothes, u have the right to an opinion. But u do not have the right to call someone names, demean their apperance or make “assumptions” about her motivation for making money. Tina NEVER said she wasn’t Black, read the whole interview. She said being of Creole Heritage influenced her life in lots of ways. That is the equivalent of saying “Im from the Boogie Down or Im a Southern Shorty”. In no way at all does that take away from a persons RACE. It gives props to how you were raised. Stop Hating on the Knwoles and study their business sense, come up on a come up and then prepare urself for all the HATERS u will encounter.

Please check the facts b4 u make a statement. The Knowles, Beyonce and Kelly both individually purchased 2 apartment complexes in Houston to house Katrina victims (all living expenses paid while waiting 4 FEMA to come thru). When Food Banks were depleated in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, the Knowles quietly made TREMENDOUS donations thru their Church and did not do any publicity around it. Several Boys and Girls clubs in Texas have updated equipment and computers courtesy of the Knowles. Proceeds from DC concerts have benefitted these foundations;, Ronald McDonald House, Dress for Success, Komen Foundation, Unicef, United Negro College Fund. Matthew and Tina employ lots of African Americans in their various business ventures. Get it together people! You never see Immigrants or Whites downing their own or not supporting the businesses of their own kind.

Thanks for setting the record straight. Why should blacks not hold one another up to the same high standards that whites hold themselves? Bless the Knowles for their obvious business acumen, but I do believe they get as much praise as they do criticism. That’s part of the game.
As another post stated, Tina’s use of the word “couture” smacks of blatant ignorance. That offense ALONE makes her suspect and I applaud the posters on this board who called her out.
@#27 LOVEONE

Smart decision. “Miss Tina” collection will do real good. Her collection belongs on QVC, HSN, Oprah Magazine, Style Network and Life Network. Her marketing targets are for the working class. I have nothing but “good” remarks to write.

Tina Knowles did not ask to be creative when she landed on this earth.
She was born with this gift and clearly she is using it.
Now nothing is new under the sun and what she did was put alittle spin on dated fashion.Think about this, people are rich today only because of their creativity and passion for whatever talent they have invested in.
Think about what your passion is and start to invest because it will make room for you.

The clothes are cute, I actually would order a few pieces when they go on sale, just like I would with any other designer.
Quick Question
Why has this post turned into a white/black/creole issue? It’s no different than any other post on this website about other celebs on the come up. Tina has her hand in HOD, Dereon and Miss Tina. It seems that people take things way too far, especially this issue of her promoting her new clothing line. If I were given the opportunity to start my own clothing line, I would jump at the opportunity. And I’m sure some of you would do the same. People know her, and associate her with designing unique clothing, and that’s what she is doing. Now it would be a different story if she was droping a new album or starring in a movie role. You are entitled to your own opinion, BUT please pump the brakes on the hating….

I respect Ms. Knowles for being a business woman first, but this is same stuff Lane Bryant was selling back in the late 90’s. It’s not fashionable. I can’t even wear this to work. DITTO #20. Didnt’ read any past yours :o)
CONGRATS! HOD WAS HOT (SOCIALITES LOVE IT), DEREON IS KILLING IN SALES AND THIS WILL DO THE SAME.
FOR THOSE THAT DON’T KNOW WHAT COUTURE MEANS - IT’S BASICALLY THE FIT AND THE QUALITY. IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE EXPENSIVE “MATERIAL” (BUT, OF COURSE, EXPENSIVE MATERIALS ARE USED IN COUTURE ITEMS) AND CAN STILL BE COUTURE BECAUSE COUTURE IS MORE ABOUT THE FIT THAN THE MATERIAL ITSELF.
“HOD” IS A HIGHER VERSION OF COUTURE THAN “MISS TINA”. THEY ACTUALLY SHOULD CHARGE “PRADA AND GUCCI” PRICES (WHO YOU’LL SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH) FOR THIS LINE BECAUSE THE MATERIALS ARE EXPENSIVE AND UNIQUE ASIDE FROM THE FIT.
I THINK THIS LINE WAS CREATED FOR THE “BIG GIRLS” BECAUSE THEY WANTED HOD AND DEREON TOO AND NOW THEY’LL HAVE IT.
GREAT BLACK FAMILY DOING GREAT THINGS.
