Venus & Serena Williams put their game faces on at Opening Night of the US Open, held at the Arthur Ashe Stadium last night. There was a special guest performance by Aretha Franklin and a pre-game ceremony honoring black women in history including Althea Gibson, the first African-American woman to be a competitor on a world tennis tour. Also honored was the first black female astronaut Dr. Mae Jemison, Olympic medalists Debi Thomas, Jackie Joyner Kersee and more.
The Williams sisters went on to win their matches and are advancing to the next round. I recommend that everyone read these great articles at yahoo.com & newsday.com about the event. Black Star Power at its finest!

Kanye West feat. Chris Martin - Homecoming (full) - listen
It’s drawing closer and closer to the release of Kanye’s much anticipated Graduation album - so you know it’s time for tracks to leak. “Homecoming” is the latest to be found. It features Coldplay front man, Chris Martin, whom the hip hop community has taken a liking to. I really like the song, I’ve been listening to it over and over again. The production, of course, is tight and I just like the overall vibe of the song. Don’t shoot me, but it sort of reminds me of Elton John. It’s the piano. Anyway, Graduation is out September 11!
Omarion feat. Kat DeLuna - Cut Off Time (full) - listen
I’m a fan of dance music, and the production on this song gives me that all day long. Although I can’t say right away that I’m a fan of either Omarion or Kat DeLuna, but there’s something about this song that I like. But where is it coming from? I know Kat’s album had a limited amount of songs, and Omarion is working on the Face Off with Bow Weezy… I don’t know, we’ll see.

Honestly, I wasn’t even going to make a post about this. If feels like a waste of time since every time someone “Makes The Band” the damn band ceases to exist. I really hope Diddy doesn’t hoe these guys. Not to mention, we got crazy emails from their fans asking why we didn’t make an update post, chill people chill. Anyway, congrats to: Wille, Qwanell, Brian A, Mike, and Robert for Making the Band. Donnie got a solo record deal because he was the fan favorite.
Oh and on the rumor tip we have some alleged relationships building. Word has it that Making the Band member Qwanell and singer Jojo might be an item and we also have word that D.Woods from Danity Kane is dating Yung Joc. Just peep the info after the cut.
